Lovely, classy yet subtle hotel. Very modern, not an old hotel which has been refurbished like a lot of others in Singapore. Great location (next to the convention centre, and very close to the Singapore Flyer), and importantly its away from the noisy bars and jaded and well worn tourist area of Clark Quay (but still close enough to be only a short $5 taxi ride away if you do want to go there, which I would recommend doing at least once if you haven't seen Clark Quay before).
From the concierge staff to the front desk staff to the housekeeping staff to the restaurant staff to the business lounge staff, I just cannot fault. The concierge staff were so very attentive and helpful in arranging day tours. The front desk staff upon checkin, personally escorted us to our room and explained everything we wanted to know along the way.
It was lovely to relax by the not crowded and large swimming pool in the Singaporean afternoon heat, and be able to order meals and drinks from the poolside bar and have these served to you whilst lounging by the pool. So very relaxing .......
We travelled as a family of two adults and two children, and whilst I get the impression that this hotel is not the first choice for families (probably due to its price), the hotel was still very accommodating for the children.
The only complaint I would make (if I had to make one) would be the speed of service in the lobby restaurant (Oscar's) during even the non busy times. Whilst the food was lovely, it was just too slow. For instance, we were booked in to do an evening tour and had one hour to have dinner prior to going out on the tour. We sat down and ordered. Forty minutes into the hour, the food had still not arrived (and this as before the dinner rush had even begun). After some reminders to the wait staff, the food did arrive with fifteen minutes to spare. So we quickly ate the food, so what was to have been a leisurely and relaxing dinner, turned into a worrying half hour or so as to why the food hadn't arrived yet, followed by a quickly eaten dinner in about 10-15 minutes, which was somewhat annoying (and which with young kids is often difficult to have them eat so quickly). But as everything else about the hotel was just so good, this one thing didn't sour our opinion of the property even in the slightest.
If we ever visit Singapore again, this will be the only place I will stay. Conrad Hilton would indeed be proud !
