“Reasonably good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2012

The hotel is very well located with easy access to public transport.Every other place is closeby and Orchard Road in itself is hip and happening. The rooms are clean and fresh. The housekeeping does a wonderful job and with a smile.Compliments to the young men and women for doing a great job.Rooms would be cleaned by the time we returned from our outings.Room service is reasonably good(S$5/= for extra cutlery per set isnt justified though)

The breakfast is sumptuous. We were there on the year end and so it got crowded during breakfast time. But the hotel arranged to cater to the rush by setting up a stall in the ball room on the first day of the new year and all was well. The fixed lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurants is pricey. In room dining is predominatly south asian with limited continental/no indian options.Pricey again(A la carte dinner for 4 @ over S$80/=)

The staff at the reception and cafe are efficient but could try and be a little more friendly.I believe they are stressed because of the constant flow of guests but thats their job, isnt it?

5 nights were nice. The a.c works well.No disturbance at the upper floors.A reasonably good stay.

A few things about Singapore i'd like to share : 1)Cabs , shopping and restaurants are costly , avoid if you can 2)Dont order for seafood which doesnt have a listed price on the menu. There is a likelihood of a ripoff there 3) Purchase an 'Express' pass for Universal Studios esp during the holiday season/weekends.It saves time and energy by helping beat the long queues , waiting time at the popular rides upto 90 minutes 4) Its a long wait for a cab at the Jurong Bird park at closing time.Try and leave a bit early. Not many cabs go that way in the evening 5) Indian food is available in the adjacent mall."D Indian Restaurant" is a nice place to have 'pratas'(paranthas for the uninitiated) and curry.Ask for Shaikk .He is friendly and helpful.Prices are reasonable.

Room Tip: As with other hotels , the rooms facing the road have a better view as compared to the ones at the b...

The Copthorne Millenium is generally a chain of 4 star hotels that provide value for money and synonymous with a good standard, especially in the Australasian region. The Orchard Singapore lived up to this expectations and we enjoyed our recent stay in their renovated Claymore wing. We chose the hotel as it offered a competitive price during a peak travel season, is on Orchard Road and has interconnecting rooms.

Travelling as a family of four with two teenagers in tow, we took two rooms in the Executive wing. Checking-in was slightly slow at the lobby as reception appeared to be understaffed despite there being an "express" lane for Executive Club guests. After some time in queue, we were whisked to the Club Lounge for guest registration which was completed in a quickly and efficiently.

Our interconnecting rooms, king and twin bedding, on the 14th floor were welcoming and clean. The beds were comfortable but request for firmer pillows if needed. Lighting in the rooms could be improved, as the air conditioning system which seemed to turn itself down during the wee hours of the morning thus warming the environment up enough to cause slightly frustration. Included in the room price was breakfast, snacks and cocktails in the Club lounge, internet connection, complimentary local calls around Singapore and a $20 laundry credit per room per day.

The buffet breakfast offering at the Lounge was adequate with a range of cold and cooked dishes and fruits. The Executive Club team are attentive and helpful with bookings and advice. Aside from breakfast, we had in-dinning service one evening. The room service menu was surpisingly extensive with choices from all the restaurants in the hotel. Although on the pricey side (average main was SG22.00 ++) our experience was good. Meals arrived within 30 minutes at peak hour even though we were warned that service could take between 45 minutes to 1 hour. Quantities were generous and the quality was good.

The hotel frontage is off Orchard Road towards the Clemenceau end. The hotel is connected to the Orchard Plaza which offers a shortcut to Orchard Road. The nearest shopping centers are Tangs and the Forum across the road with a short walk to Wisma Atria and Ion.

The hotel lobby setting is reasonably formal with limited seating. A pianist is featured in the evenings in the main area while a live band played in the bar. The hotel restaurants were geared up for the Chinese New Year celebrations which suggests a good local patronage.

Each of our rooms were $420++ per night but prices are generally around $380++ during the low season. Would we return? Most likely as the hotel offers value (especially at the low season prices), a good location anas friendly staff. Just as important for a family group, is that the Orchard Hotel is one of the few in Singapore with interconnecting rooms.

Room Tip: Higher level rooms are quieter and put in requests early for interconnecting rooms.

.Orchard hotel has a excellent location with neat & clean rooms, helpful & co-operative staff. The rooms were nice & had a good view to the city, i stayed in the new claymore wing. The only problem was of very limited vareity of vegetarian dishes since i am a vegetarian so had problems with the food, besides this everything was very good. The connection & Transport facility was very good, we need not wait for Taxi or any other mode of transport.

Room Tip: Opt for the new Claymore wing Rooms / Suites

The staff were extremely helpful. They went out of their way to accomodate me with a new room, after the last room they gave me had a smoking person in it. Please! If you are a smoker, please ask for a smoking room! Don't smoke on a non smoking room!
The breakfast was fine, but it is the same thing every morning! Get up early, it gets very busy! If you don't have the breakfast included, don't bother paying the $16. You can get breakfast elswhere!
The hotel is walking distance to the MTR, and it is not overally far from the shopping district. It is everywhere!
The room's are clean, but can be cleaned rather late at night. It's not a problem, if you come back late
I highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: If you want a non smoking and don't get it. Just go and ask them to move you!

We stayed a week at this hotel with Children during school holiday. Good location, easy to access to anywhere, near Botanic Garden, nice walk after Dinner, manmade lake, with swans I think. Back hotel, the room is clean and concierge are very infomatic. We will come back!

We chose this hotel due to its location (Orchard Road) and because there was some sort of special deal for staying more than 3 nights. On check-in date, the affable duty manager Mr. Quam immediately attended to me when he saw that the normal check-in queues were getting very long, being Dec. 23 and very close to the peak day of the year. In addition, most of my room-related requests were all accommodated. Our rooms were done in very classy taste- one in ming blue, and the other in celadon green. Very comfortable and pleasing to the eye. Warning, however: if you stay on the 17th floor, make sure you DO NOT get a room right below the Signature Lounge. One of our rooms was unfortunately located below the lounge (on the 18th) so I, being a light sleeper, would be awakened as early as 6am by footsteps clack-clacking on the wooden floor above my ceiling. If only the lounge floor were carpetted, this would not be a problem; however, I was told that the design of the lounge calls for a carpet-free flooring. I was also told that other guests have complained about the noise as well. Other bad things: they charge a "service fee" of SGD 5.00 if you ask for a bucket of ice. On Dec. 26, they forgot to replace my bath towels and I had to call 4 times before they finally brought new ones. On Dec. 27, we waited 1 hour for our luggage to be brought down to the lobby. This is very undesirable; one could actually be late for his/her flight with this kind of slow service. One of the Filipino bellhops at the driveway had an irritating air and pretentious accent but the other Filipino bellhop was very pleasant and amiable so he was the one who got a generous tip from us upon checkout. Other than these, we had a nice stay (overall). Location is very convenient and in a quiet area of Orchard Road, but is beside restaurants, drugstores and groceries.

Room Tip: Do not agree to a room located right below the Signature Lounge because the lounge has no carpet and...

Was in Singapore for business and stayed here for 2 nights - this a very average hotel located near one end of the shopping belt and off the main road. The lobby, pick-up/drop-off areas and elevators all look rather old and tired but the room itself was pretty well-appointed and looked recently refurbished. I checked in pretty late but there were still local crowd hanging around the lobby area and the music (from the bar?) was quite loud.

Given the choices available would probably not stay here again.
