“Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We are a family of 4 adults and 1 3yr old and we decided to spend Christmas in Singapore. We chose this hotel at the early part of the trip because of the relatively good price we got. We got 2 adjacent rooms near the elevators - which my son liked going up and down in.

Pros:
-The staff were very friendly in assisting us with inquiries on our sightseeing itinerary, getting cabs, and arranging transport.
-An attached Mini-mall with late night convenience store was very handy
-Very near Orchard Road and shopping malls.
-The breakfast buffet was average, but cute that they had a little kid's corner.

Cons:
-The restaurants weren't that great. No one was at the reception at their Chinese resto so we ended up at Melting Pot (same place where they serve breakfast). Average food and a tad pricey.
-Not much to go to walking around the hotel.

Basically, considering how 4&5 stars are priced in Singapore, the deal we got was worth the overall average experience.

Room Tip: Check every now and then at their website for good deals (they change from time to time).

I've stayed in this hotel a number of times over the past few years, but unfortunately will not be able to stay there for my trip to Singapore next week. It appears others like this hotel as well, as they are fully booked for some days. Like other Singapore hotels, the rate fluctuates from day-to-day and you can get a really good rate if you purchase in advance for your full stay.

So, the lobby in the hotel is big and open to the top, hence the Atrium name. The rooms aren't huge, but they are modern, clean, and have everything you could need (universal power plugs, flat screen TVs, mini-fridge, safe, and water boiler). I haven't eaten breakfast here nor have I accessed the lounge, so I can't comment on them.

There is a convenience store, massage parlor, and high-end KTV place attached to the hotel. You will see some beautiful cars parked there on weekends when the high rollers go into the KTV place. Also, this hotel seems to be frequented a lot by flight crew, and you will see them in the lobby often as well.

As far as location goes, this would be a hotel for someone that wants to travel mostly by taxi. There are some tourist shuttle buses that stop here, but I never used them. It's a bit of a walk to the nearest MRT station, so I wouldn't recommend that. Getting a taxi can be hit or miss here, and sometimes on weekends there is a queue and your'e better off phoning for one. The one good thing about the location is it's right near the CTE entrance, so getting around via taxi is pretty easy as you can get on/off the highway with ease.

Room Tip: If they try to tell you the room type you reserved is not available (e.g. only Queen bed not the Kin...

This is my second long stay in this property in the last 2 years. Stayed for 7 nights this time with my spouse. I am a Platinum Member and a loyal fan of IHG. I ranked Holiday Inn Atrium and Crowne Plaza Petra as the two IHG properties I have used that deserve a much needed make-over, soon.

We like this Holiday Inn for its central location - we drive, so its accessibility to the major highways and free parking worked well. The beauty salon and grocery stores in the building are useful and friendly. The business center at he ground floor is user friendly and printer service for last minute printing is free of charge. The laundry service at the 6 floor is a welcomed function. They used not to have detergent and you have to pay a small pack yourself. Now, it comes with auto-dispensed detergent, power industrial washer and dryer that does the full 10kg load you have in half the time you would expect at home.

Some minor improvements must be made though -

Other than Jasmine at the reception desk, Xiao Qi at the 4th floor restaurant and their Caucasian GM, most of the service staff were not the friendliest hotel people I have encountered at IHG. Not that surprising considering SIngapore's hospitality standards are a mark off what we are familiar with in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The reception seemed to be perpetually busy all day long and calling them from the room was frustrating - you get disconnected repeatedly after they try putting you through. On one occasion, I had to leave my 26th floor room to take the elevator just to talk to them at the desk.

The 6 elevators looked grand and pretty, that is until you used them. Works at a snail's pace, door takes a delayed few seconds to open and maybe only half of them are functioning.

The breakfast buffet was satisfying with good variety until weekends - food were not topped up prompted this morning. Had to request for fried rice and sausages twice before they did something about it, after 15 min. And the seafood fried rice only had peas and rice. Maybe a shortage of staff? Disappointing.

If you are a platinum member looking for an upgraded room, chances are slim and the upgraded rooms are just slightly bigger than the standard. But for the rate we paid, we are quite happy overall.

I would love to come back again to this property (if I have a more decent upgrade) and I wish we would see positive improvements. Come on Holiday Inn Atrium, you can do better!

Room Tip: Ask for the newer refurbished rooms. The old ones have faulty switches and retro thermostats that se...

We stayed at the Holiday Inn with our two sons- ages 2 and 5. We booked a deal through their website that included breakfast and free internet. The hotel was very accommodating. We had booked a smoking room but they were able to easily change it to nonsmoking. They also arranged a rollaway bed for our older son at no additional cost. The hotel staff was great with the kids! Everyone always came over to greet them and play with them. The waitresses remembered them at breakfast and would bring them hot chocolate. The breakfast was good with a large selection of food. We also enjoyed the Chinese restaurant in the hotel. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. From the hotel we were able to access all the sights we wanted to see. The hotel is located about a 10-15 minute walk from the MRT station and we were also able to get taxis from the hotel. The concierge was very helpful and answered all of our sightseeing questions. There are shops attached to the hotel that include a couple of minimarts. The minimarts will also exchange money. Overall the service we received was great. We would definitely stay there again.

I was able to sleep from 6 am till 10 am without being disturbed after an overnight flight. Clean tidy and friendly staff. It took me 10 minutes to walk from Outram Park MRT along Outram road and 10 minutes to Chinatown MRT. Taxi was S$10 from Orchard Rd. My room included breakfast and Internet. Breakfast was what I would expect at a buffet style all I wanted. I did not see any Gluten free options. I ate dinner in the hotel having been in India for a week all I wanted was a burger and chips, the hotel choice was better than I have had in the USA the home of the burger. Dinner & drink S$36. The coffee in the ground floor bar was the best tasting I had during my stay in Singapore, at S$9.40 I would guess so.

Stayed at Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium for 7 nights. We first got a room with a queen size + extra bed, even though we had ordered a room with a kingsize bed. After two nights we were moved to the new room, and received a compensation.

The BIG plus was the breakfast. You had your tradition English breakfast as well as Indian, Japanese, Malay and fruits bread and cakes. Double thoms up for that!

Tip for you: if you are in the area of Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer or Gardens by the Bay and you are getting hungry, go to the food court at the Marina Bay shopping mall (level -2). This was some of the most tasty food we had all week and we ate at different priced restaurants.

All the best

Location is alright, walking distance from China Town.

Couple of clubs in walking distance, saves taxi money.

Attached to hotel are few shops, you can get water etc.

Breakfast buffet i tried was very nice, although a bit pricey (30 S$) but well stocked and good quality food.

In room internet is charged separately, 9.99 S$, which is not nice when you are paying more than 200 S$ per night.

Room is alright nothing great nothing bad just average, one good thing was well stocked toiletries , including shower cap.

One thing i disliked about the hotel was, your room door is visible to every one, no privacy at all.

Staff was helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for room with river view, it is better than city view
