“Stay just for the breakfast experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

Stayed here for a couple of nights 12/13th November.
Quick appraisal - staff very good - welcoming and genuinely pleased to help.
Room small but spotless - great location. Easy stroll to MLT.
Breakfast - best in Singapore - seriously superb.
Thoroughly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Try to get a high front bedroom ...

We come when hotel upgraded out side. It's look like a construction...
Every thing in this hotel are old. But you can stay with 4 person and drink every thing in refrigerator because it's free mini bar hotel (value ~ 30 USD?)
I like a deep small-pool, It's amazing.
Finally, so much candle on hotel lobby look like for your birthday...

Room Tip: Ask for near orchard road room

This is a hotel that was built when smaller room sizes were the standard. The views from the room aren't great either; mine was facing a blank wall. Nevertheless, if the traveler does not care about views or room sizes, this hotel has one great thing going for it, its location. It is right on the nexus of Scotts and Orchard roads which means easy access to great shopping, restaurants and entertainment.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor so you won't have to face a blank wall.

The first impressions of this hotel are currently not good, the front is being renovated and the noise is so loud you cannot hear the check in staff. We were also served by a trainee who had no supervision and managed to have three of my credit cards declined several times, which was awkward and worrying for me only to find that this was a fault on the hotels end. Having said that she was very polite and it probably was not her fault she had been left alone.

The room was very clean and tidy and the mini bar was free and replenished daily, which is a good perk. Although do not get too excited there is only one beer, one coke, one diet coke, some water, an orange juice and some chocolate chip cookies. The room is not massive but we were not expecting it to be bearing in mind the city centre location but everything is nicely appointed, clean and modern.

Breakfast was excellent and the choice is huge, although it is heaving at all times and you do have to wait for a table, one morning we were put on a joint table, which was fine but there was no choice in this and for such an expensive hotel I think that should maybe be addressed.

The pool area seemed nice but is very small, we only used it for a quick shower before boarding our flight, although there was a queue in the mens so my fiancee couldn't actually use the facilities. There is one shower per gender so make sure you leave enough time before your flight if showering is important to you.

The staff were friendly, however, not as helpful as other hotels around Asia. Due to the construction work you often had to queue for taxi's and the whole front area was quite badly managed, which was frustrating. I think mainly the poor service was actually because you couldn't hear what each other were requesting and there wasn't enough space for the cars, taxi's and buses, which seemed to pass through the small area.

The hotel is well located and literally minutes from Orchard MRT station, which makes travel around the city very easy.

I would recommend this hotels location and rooms as long as your expectations are a city centre business type hotel as well as breakfast. But we should have been pre warned about the building work and although it's great to have showering facilities I do think these were slightly misleading!

This is an expensive hotel and I do think there will be other similar hotels around Singapore for a similar price, if I were to travel again I would stay closer to Marina Bay, this is not a reflection on this hotel but I think we could have improved our location for the same price.

I was very disappointed to hotel Royal Plaza on Scotts. Although the location is excellent in the heart of Singapore, everything else was disaster.
First when we arrived the hotel, the receptionist told us, that we won´t get a room with double bed, because the hotel was full. Ok, we accepted this, but we were very disappointed. The hotel is huge, including perhaps more than 500 rooms, so every time you want to ask something from reception, you need to wait for long time.
Hotel room was ok, but really basic, and surely not at all 4 star hotel, more than 2 star quality.
Hotel staff was really rude, and not at all helpful.
The best thing with this hotel was the amazing breakfast, but still you needed to wait for loooooong time for a free table, because of the huge number of the rooms.
Hotel pool was a joke.
I highly recommend you to choose some nice small hotel, and not at all Royal Plaza on Scotts.

The location is good, situated very close to the cheap and easy to use Metro. The outside of the hotel was not helped by the renovations that were in progress, which by the way were being carried out subtlety without impacting on the smooth running of the hotel, however the inside belied the ordinariness that the outside portrayed. It was tasteful with a hint of opulence, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff were very good, helpful and courteous. The food was good and well presented although not cheap. Overall a good stay.

Our experience sadly sits on borderline negative. I can’t fault the customer service, amenities and location they were all superb - however the renovations currently underway inconvenienced us highly.

My 17 month old son has a nap around 1100 however due to the drilling and hammering taking place on the floor and at times the room above us, it meant we could not be in the room during 0900 and 1800. We tried settling our son a few times however the noise was unbearable; at times he would wake up beside himself in tears. Reception kindly offered to move us however due to the bags and cot we had it really was an inconvenience to pack up everything.

Sadly we weren't warned of the renovation works when checking in nor given the preference of a quieter area of the hotel given the age of our son. A little bit of foresight would have made our experience slight more pleasant. Sadly we will not be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not noise affected by the renovations currently underway at the hotel.
