“Great facilities if you have time to enjoy them”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Great facilities (very nice outdoor swimming pool), restaurants (delicious breakfast) & service but a bit of a disappointment regarding the room (std one) which I found small and aging. The location is very convenient, quiet but still at a walking distance from the Orchard area. Unless I have time to relax by the pool or need to be very close to upper Orchard road, for my next business trip I will probably choose a more modern & better value hotel.

I stayed in the Valley Wing for a few nights and felt that the usual high standard of excellence in service was missed on this occasion. I find Shangri-la hotels to be the best throughout, but not this time. I've stayed in the Valley Wing before, and didn't find this stay as good.

Not sure if it was because I wasn't an "important businessman" but I didn't feel I was treated like a valued guest, and as I'm a Diamond Golden Circle member, this was particularly disappointing. Perhaps we are just too common in Singapore to worry about impressing?

Individual staff members were friendly, but overall, I felt there was something missing. Staff seemed to read from a script, rather than give heartfelt, genuine service.

The room was excellent, the champagne bar was great (staff were better there), and breakfast was good too. So it wasn't a terrible visit, I just felt they missed their usual standard of excellence. I hope it's back on track next time I stay.

When you are paying those prices, you expect everthing to be spot on - no excuses. That's why you pay that price.

I stayed at the Valley Wing for 3 days during my recent trip to Singapore. Shangri-la has always left a positive impression on me whenever I stay at any of their hotels in Asia. As far as the service goes, this experience at the Shangri-la is absolutely the best.

I must specifically mention the staff at the Summit Room. Their hospitality and warm is highly commendable. Each day while I was there having my meals/drinks, I notice them greet other guests with the same warm, care and sincere hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and shall look forward to the next visit.

I last stayed at the shangri-la in 1982 when it was relatively new. It was magnificent, with ochre balconies covered within lush hanging gardens. Now the balconies are white, and the entire hotel has had a face lift that has replenished her soul, so that you too can experience a rejuvenation of the spirit. I loved my two day stay at the shangrila-la, from being especially greeted at the garden wing reception by helpful staff who sat me down, offered me an amazingly refreshing herbal tea and an beautifully presented orchid while completing my booking. That was the beginning of some the best service I have ever experienced in a divine grand hotel tucked away at the quiet end of orchard road. It's close enough to be able to walk to the big shopping plazas but is in its own special secluded paradise. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the amazing Singapore and its contrast of old and new at the shangrila-la.

This was a return visit since the renovation and up-grading of the Garden Wing. We were delighted with the result The rooms were well to our expectation and the facilities were improved. A new reception area made check-in pleasant, the addtional facility of a complimentary cocktail hour and a new restaurant exclusively for the Garden Wing completed our enjoyment of the stay.Best of all the chef in that new restaurant produced the best eggs benedict. After many disappointments in the quest for this dish (even in the same hotel chain) we found breakfast happiness in the Waterfall restaurant!!
A completely satisfying hotel experience, we will be back!

We stayed on one of the Club Levels and it was so worth it! The breakfast and afternoon cocktails provided on the 24th floor with a view of the city made us feel so special. The staff were so helpful and our room was ready and waiting for us (our check-in at 1:30 am had us anxious). They made our arrival seamless and we were in bed, ready to sleep after our 24 hour flight from the states within the hour. The spa was heavenly and we definitely plan to return and stay with Shangri-La. The location of the hotel and the free shuttle to Orchard Shopping area was wonderful. Well worth the visit!

Room Tip: Club level (concierge) is worth the extra cost. The amenities and room location were wonderful!

We stayed in the valley wing in a suite. Delicious breakfast, extremely clean rooms and really friendly staff. Located just off orchard road and is walking distance to the shopping centres and a short taxi ride to clarke quay. The restaurants in the hotel are great quality, if a little pricey but the Shang palace is definitely worth it. Couldn't ask for more at the hotel and will be back.
