“Good but incredibly expensive late checkout”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

Nice hotel, we stayed three nights. Good rooms. Good restaurants and good food. Well positioned. Good helpful staff. Superb pool, health club, spa, steam rooms and sauna. Spoilt by front of house staff that are determined to extract extra money from the moment you check in to the moment you leave. A very expensive room upgrade was offered at check in. A three hour late checkout was offered for the rack rate price of a whole nights stay. I rejected both.

Traders was booked by our travel agent as a one night pre cruise stopover. Rooms were really good and we were greeted by helpful staff. However, restraunt was slow and poor service and breakfast was even worse...seemed to be no one around to advise or seat you. Buffet breakfast was okay, but lots of dishes were constantly running out. Was okay for one night, but would not choose this hotel for a longer stay.

Check in was quick and efficient with exceptionally friendly receptionist. Rooms are old and very small. I booked a room on executive club floor for 350 dollars, definitely not worth the money, and plenty of much better alternatives for same or less money in Singapore. Staff in the executive lounge would not be attentive, blow their nose in front of guests, and not able to offer a drink list (even though guest is paying for drinks). There was a strong solvent smell on the floor. Swimming pool is great, though. Breakfast not impressive, but o.k.

I recently spent 14 nights here and it was, frankly, too long. The rooms are OK, if a little basic. Bathrooms are very small and the choice of tv handles is extremely basic (annoyingly the football channel is only available in the bar). The pool area is nice and the breakfast and dinner buffets are impressive. Staff are friendly enough but the location, 15 mins or so walk from Orchard MTR, is a little too far away to be convenient. Perhaps time for a ale over for the hotel?

A middle-sized affordable hotel in a lush and green area close to the city center. We chose it partly because of its location at walking distance from the Singapore Botanical Gardens and the amazing national Orchid Garden, during our short stop over stay in Singapore. Our room was standard boring hotel room by style and equipment but clean and comfortable. There is an outdoor pool and several restaurants adjacent. Service was friendly but not very professional – a problem we detected in our room took a long time and several phone calls to correct and the correction was not delivered before some detective work by us revealed that the reception had got our room number wrong and had corrected the problem in another room (we got some compensation for this hassle). We really enjoyed the breakfast with wide variety of alternative cuisines from traditional English to Chinese, Indian and Malaysian. We would definitely consider staying again for a stopover, maybe not for a longer stay though.

B'fast with good enough choice for a 4-star hotel. However quite a disappointment for the fact during my 45 mins stay in the breakfast that many hot dishes are constantly running out and replenishing was simply not there. With so many Asian clientele, hot dishes should be better planned.
Feeling a little dumb going round opening the covers to find out empty dishes for not only once. Probably better to leave chafing dish covers opened to allow guests and staffs knowing the items to be replenished.
Would definitely try out the traders lounge breakfast if the varieties/choices is good enough tomorrow.

I spent 2 nights here. Its a nice hotel with very helpful staff, he location of the hotel is also very convenient. There is shuttle service from the hotel to Ochard MRT Station. I stayed in the Standard Room, the rooms were nice and comfortable as well but its abit noisy during the day due to a construction site which opposite the hotel. On food, Tanglin Mall is joined with the hotel, so if you don't want to eat the expensive hotel food, you can walk to the mall. It was a good experience and i would definitely stay at Traders again.

Room Tip: There is a construction site just across the hotel, so try to ask for a high floor and if possible...
