“bvlgari amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2010

We went here twice, We got 1 bedroom suite in excutive floors. The first time we stayed I noticed the bvlgari amenities were big as 200ml. the second time it was 100ml. perhaps cost cutting. well I loved it there, spectacular views, with 1 balcony. The Equinox restaurant and jaan restaurant was good, the bar was nice although smoking is prohibited in the country, so we smoked cigar in our balcony..
the hotel was very nice overall, connecting to shopping malls and convinient.

Checked in on a Fri for a night's stay at a Classic Harbour View Room (choice of King Size or Double Bed available). Had requested for a high floor during our initial reservation (we got 45th flr) but nothing special was setup (even though i mentioned that it was to be a night's stay to celebrate me and my then-fiance's marriage solemnization at a restaurant near the hotel). Well, we were abit disappointed but then my guess is such "reason for celebration" could have been a dime a dozen to the hotel.

We arrived at the reception at 1 pm and managed to get a room allocated (even though check in was mentioned as 2 pm). Queuing might seem a touch chaotic as the "reception" serves both checking in and checking out guests but with no distinction of a normal queue (e.g. the usual ones where you queue at a main line and get directed to an empty counter). It seems like a free-for-all at the reception.

Anyway, we were quite happy to get a suitably high floor (45th out of 68th). The view was superb from our room's balcony, overlooking the marina bay sands and esplanade. I would say this is the million dollar view to have if you intend to catch the new year's eve fireworks in Singapore (balcony can easily accommodate at least 10 pax). In terms of the room condition, i would say that much can be done to improve on the overall impression. Parts that can be improved: 1) Bed seems to be based on the "hard and durable" type, and in all my stay at the various hotels in Singapore or even Japan, this one has got to be the "toughest and hardest bed" that we have slept in. 2) The toilet flush seems to come out of a kung fu movie (the type where you have to deliver a "killer" punch in order to activate the flush system) and it would actually help to have a normal "push" button for flushing. 3) There was no "flexible" shower head (the type where you can unhook from the holder and maneouvre to shower different parts of your body). For the one present in the shower room, either you hope you are not too tall (as shower head is fixed quite low and my 1.8m frame almost knocked the shower head) or you are small enough to move around the bathtub for water jet to spray to your body. Keep in mind that there is no pressure system as well (just a knob to turn water off and on / adjust temperature) so you pretty much have to make do with the "default" water pressure. 4) The drainage plug seems to be damaged as well (you have to remove the whole plug to drain the water or let it "sit" sideways to create a partial drainage flow"). 5) The cupboard for hanging your clothes / safebox etc are located just beside the main door (i find it quite irritating to have to walk all the way to the front door area to keep items / hang my clothes when normally, it should just be a couple of steps away in the bedroom). 6) No free internet access is available and no WIFI connection as well (even if you want to pay for one).

Other than the grouches i have mentioned earlier, room seems fine overall and is quite spacious. There is a mini sofa which is quite comfy for watching the night sky, and they do pack some rather nice TWG tea packs for refreshment (as well as complimentary bottle of water). We requested for late check out at 2 pm (usual is 12 noon check out) and our request was acceded. The hotel is also located at City Hall MRT (which is the interchange station) which makes it very accessible to Orchard Road (Orchard MRT or Somerset MRT) or if you are looking to go to more other areas (east side to East Coast Park (Bedok MRT nearest) or Changi Village (Paris Ris MRT nearest) or south side to Resorts World Sentosa / Universal Studios (alight at Harbourfront MRT and take a direct monorail system into Sentosa at Vivocity Mall)).

Overall, i would go back for the view only (i.e. fireworks season).

We had a one night stay at this hotel and at the The Fullerton. The price we paid at each hotel was exactly same (yes, we had a great deal as we arrived in SG just on the brink of peak season) but boy, what a difference! We stayed on the 11th floor on what must have been the older building of the hotel. It was old, we had no view at all. Our room overlooked another building and a bit of the pool. We saw just a peak of the city, barely. The room was just a let down, not to mention reception was busy as anything, so there was no warm welcome or service other then a simple check in.

I wouldn't recommend it and would never go back again.

Dear EvaPerth ,

Warmest greetings from Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore!

Thank you very much for your feedback and taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

We would like to express our heartfelt apologies for your unpleasant experience in our guestrooms. Please be assured that the hotel is continuously refurbishing our guestrooms as well as furnishings to deliver the best lifestyle experience possible. However, due to the enormous magnitude of this 73-storey deluxe hotel, these upgrades are currently being carried out in stages. We seek your kind understanding on this.

Please also accept our apologies for the not-perfect arrival experience during the busy time at our Reception. We have clearly not met your expectations in this respect. Your experience is definitely not that which we wish to extend to our guests or that which is expected from our calibre of hotel.

This has highlighted that there exists an opportunity for more intensive training on our part.

We hope that you would give us another chance to welcome you back to Swissôtel The Stamford.

I stayed at Swissötel The Stamford with my family in 2009 during F1 GP on the 40th floor. Staff were helpful and friendly. We went in harbour view room which was the best for the F1.
The location is great, because you have everything on hand.
The breakfast was luxurious with a large range of dishes.
I highly recommended to stay at The Stamford, specially if you are travelling for an event like F1. Best choice!

We stayed for one week in the Stamford in Singapore. When you book a room in the executive floors (some floors around 60th), you have a private check-in in floor 60, where also the executive lounge is situated. The rooms are quite large and the bed is very comfortable. Really special and surprising was the possibility to use the open balcony (seperate for every room) - you have an outstanding view from there.
Breakfast is served in the executive lounge, which could be really crowded since it is not a very large hall - but the ambience is quite private. The choices of food is okay. In the afternoon (04.00-07.00 p.m.??) there is a happy hour with free drinks and some finger food - really nice.
The most spectacular view is presented in the Equinox-Restaurants and bars in the top floors of the hotel - this is by far the best way to end a busy day and relax with some friends (and some cocktails...).
The staff is friendly and helpful.
The gym is well and modern equipped and there are really a lot of treadmills and other execise machines.
One of large shopping mall starts direct in the ground floor of the hotel (Raffles City) and you can walk from the hotel underground to the Esplanade and to other shopping malls. Also Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are in walking distance (aboveground).
All in all a really good and remarkable hotel in a remarkable city!

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions, since 1998. Every time I stay I always have an enjoyable experience. The hotel is in a perfect location above a shopping centre and underground station, making it an ideal place for sight-seeing all of Singapore. The views from the hotel bedrooms are outstanding and generally the room decoration is very good. The rooms seems to get better as the floors get higher. I have used the club lounge many times and have found the breakfast and evening cocktails excellent, with prompt, personalized service. One evening I requested a DVD player for my bedroom and it was delivered within 5 minutes. The hotel has some great restaurants, especially the restaurant at the top of the hotel, with outstanding views I enjoyed a very memorable dinner. The swimming pool is nice and the spa is excellent, with a wide choice of services available. I have taken friends to this hotel and also stayed with my parents, all loved the hotel and had memorable stays.

I had stayed at the Swiisotel last year and had really enjoyed the rooms and views. However, this time, I booked a week's stay with young children and was given a room where the bathtub was chipped (in 7 places- am not exaggerating - has to be seen to be believed!). Similar to many reviews here, the room was old, drab and seen better days. I have NEVER been to a hotel where they will allow guests into a bathroom with chipped enamel. I rang to change the room and in their defence, the hotel very quickly changed our room and was very apologetic. It seems like the "luck of the draw" with Swissotel, as my previous stay I got a really nice room. There appears to be rooms that are newly furnished (which was probably what I got in previous stay) and rooms that are old. I think for anyone to call this 5 star and ask for S$300 (without tax) and hope and pray you get one of the newer rooms is really a pity. The pros of Swissotel are that the MRT is right downstairs, plentiful foodcourts, nice and friendly staff, GREAT breakfast buffet with Western,Singapore, Japanese, (one of the best buffets I have been to). The staff are also to be commended as being friendly and courteous. Taxis were so easy to get, right outside the hotel and guests have priority. Once we changed rooms, we had a really great stay as the hotel is actually really nice - just make sure you ask for the NEW rooms!
