I recently took a 15 day cruise from Singapore to Sydney and booked this hotel for a caouple days prior to the ruise and then again for an overnight on the way back.

The first two nights were great... arrived late on Nov 2nd and was provided a really nice room on the 54th floor. The room was spotless with twin balconies which provided a great view. The Internet connection, wired only, is rather expensive at $28 per 24 hours. Not really a great connection. No wireless offered in the hotel.

The return night on Nov 21st was a totally different experience. The room I received was on the 7th floor and totally minimal. Same rate as the previous stay and same booking but disappointing room.

Booked directly with the hotel website at full rate.

Will stay at another hotel next time I am in Singapore

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights.
Great welcome at check in, my room was not ready yet as I came ealier than the check in time.
Another room was provided to freshen up.
Once receiving my room it was on the 32nd floor, providing great views of Singapore.
The room was very clean and modern looking. There was a great view from the balcony and amenities were excellent.
The location of the hotel is excellent as it is near key areas Marina, Plaza shopping city, Raffles hotel and the MRT station.
Staff are very polite, and courteous. I would defiinteyl stay here again.
Got a cheaper deal through booking this with Singapore Airlines, as they also arrange transportation.

I frequently stay at the old sister hotel, the Plaza, but could not get in there due to a conference of Insurance firms being held. I was therefore put into the Stamford, my first visit here for many years. Both hotels are located at the Raffles City shopping centre and connected by a ground floor passageway which also enters the shopping centre The check in was good, and staff as ever helpful in the hotel. I had a 54th floor room with great views across both Boat and Clark Quays. The room itself was how the Plaza had been several years ago before they started refurbshing. As such it is a little dated but totally adequate and confortable. A good working desk is provided but the shower and bath combined is looking old. A glass screen to keep water in was fairly useless. I found two problems. The lifts to the guest floors are accessible during the day directly from the shopping centres second and third floors. I did not need my key card to use these, despite having slots available on the panels to use them. As a result I felt security of the rooms was loose as anyone could go up stairs without going through the lobby. Which dovetails with the second point - on my last night, also the last night of the conference, I walked via the passageway to have a nightcap in Raffles which directly over the road from the Plaza. I was approached by two hookers in what I consdiered hotel space, within a minute of each other. I raised it with a member of the Plaza staff as I passed him to get a response of "there's a conference on" but no other action. Likewise there were several hanging about outside the Plaza. This is a nuisance factor most travellers can do without and a big disappointment as I had not seen this before. Before going back to either Stamford or Plaza hotels in future I will ensure there is not a conference on.

We had booked a harbour view double room for our overnight stopover via the internet. When we arrived we were given an upgrade to a very large suite with two balconies, queen bed, writing desk (with high speed internet connection) and lounges to watch tv or read. Though the rooms are a tad dated, they are spotlessly clean and well-equipped with great views. This might be an Australian or English idiosyncrasy but it was good to find the complimentary tea and coffee with a kettle available in the room also.

The very helpful staff also gave us a room where we had the option of a late check out (til 2pm) as our flight was not leaving Singapore until 11pm the next day.

The breakfast was very good with an amazing variety of food to chose from the buffet. The staff were very efficient and helpful and the location is unbeatable (above Raffles Plaza and City Hall MRT station). There is also a pool that can be used as well as a pleasent bar downstairs.

my daughter and i stayed at swissotel the stamford singapore for one night in june this year on the way back from dubai and the uk. i stayed at raffles the plaza next door (i have written a review for this hotel also) with my husband almost three years prior, and as i was travelling with my daughter, thought i would try out the swissotel. my husband stays there regularly on business.
i was very impressed with the swissotel. check in, whilst there was a queue, was very efficient and polite. our bags were taken very quickly to our room, very welcome after a long and exhausting trip. my daughter and i had an enormous room with two queen sized beds in, and a lovely bathroom. although i had requested from the travel agent a low floor (i know how high this place is!) we ended up on the 43rd floor! my husband hasn't even stayed that high! anyway, we had marvellous views of the city and surrounds. the bathroom was lovely with nice toiletries. my daughter was very impressed with the size of the room, but i kept her away from the balcony!
the location of course is excellent with the shopping centre, chijmes and transport nearby. my daughter couldn't believe the shops were next door. sad to say we ate burger king for dinner, but it was quick, easy and cheap!
we had breakfast the next day, which had an enormous choice. we arrived during a busy time, but the staff were still very polite, friendly and helpful. my daughters eyes boggled at all the food, and although she didn't like some things she ate (she can be a tad fussy and it had nothing to do with the quality of the food) it was wonderful that there were so many things to try. the guava juice proved a hit! the coffee was lovely too.
the pool is shared with raffles the plaza next door, and a lovely cool retreat from the heat and humdity of singapore.
what i liked most about the hotel was however the staff., from the check in staff right through to the guy who hails the taxi (he even offered to be in my daughters photo, which left her very pleased!) they were constantly approaching my daughter and chatting to her, even the male staff! children can sometimes be made to feel invisible, or like nuisances, but they were so lovely to her that she shone every time they spoke to her! what made me laugh was that they were noticed her because of her blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin (so different to them, they said)! she had a doll which looked like her, and the staff found it hilarious (again, including the males) and asked her all about the doll! several of the female staff complimented her on her lovely hair, which was such a sweet thing to do.
there was a slight mix up at check out, but it was handled with humour and sorted quickly and efficiently. we were offered the use of a room and the pool at check out as our flight home was late at night. that was very appreciated.
in short, i would highly recommend the swissotel if you are taking kids, as raffles the plaza next door is really a business/couples hotel.
i loved it, and when travelling with my family will be my hotel of choice for singapore (raffles the plaza for just myself and hubby though). very reasonably priced too.
and thanks for being so nice to my daughter!
