“Good atmosphere, so so food and rather steep prices”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2012

Graze has a cool new outlet at 38 Martin Road behind Robertson Quay. The atmosphere is good – think London, Sydney or New York. However, food could be better and the place isn’t cheap. It was ok but we will probably not be back unless some friends insist on meeting us there.

“Started so well...fell apart at the end.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011

The sister restaurant to Graze @ Rochester, so we were expecting a fairly solid performance. The location is fairly isolated and it stands alone on this road opposite several new condo blocks. The ambiance is comfortable with tables well spaced and a good feel - homely bistro style. The evening started well enough - prompt service, well prepared entrees. There were four of us at the table and everyone was satisfied with the first course. Mains were mixed though - the lamb was tasty, but a little fatty and quite heavy in sauce/gravy. The mixed ham/turkey Christmas dish, was a little dry but ok.

Desserts were a disaster. The chef needs to look up "Clotted Cream" for a start - don't advertise what you don't serve. The chocolate 'whatever' was bland and tasted like it had come in a tin. The apple tart was soggy and unappetizing.

The wine list was reasonable in choice but not really in price - most of the decent wines were quite expensive.

The service.....fine to start, then vanished. For a customer to have to get up from the table to find someone to ask for the bill means the staff are either lazy or don't care. My suggestion is for the manager at Rochester to go to No.38 and do some serious training.

Overpriced for an average experience.
