First (and single night) I stayed there was a nightmare. I arrived late at night after a long flight and my reservation wasn't in their system. They took almost an hour to sort it out! The receptionists were almost rude in dealing with the situation. They gave me an awful room that was dirty and mouldy, very tiny and with no windows. i am quite allergic and asked them an upgraded room, which I had to pay about AUD40 extra to have a room with window (still mouldy). The bathroom in this "new" room was very tiny and had a weird design so the shower was just above the toilet, meaning that everything got splashed. I had to dry the toilet out with the towel to use it afterwards and had to get in a pool of water to use the bathroom at night. As if it was not bad enough, there is a massive construction happening at the moment just behind the hotel and the cranes woke me up around 7am with the noise and the vibrations from the machine excavating the ground. Oh my... I didn't even wanted to use the bathroom in the morning - packed all, dressed up and asked for a refund (you have to pay all stay upfront) - what took me about 3 weeks to get. After this terrible experience I moved to the Ibis on Bencoolen - little bit more expensive but what a difference! A normal and decent hotel at least. Then I could finally start enjoying my holidays!
