“Over Priced, Tiny Rooms But Completely Unpractical! MOSQUITOES!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

Well, please do nit waste your money here! Nicely decorated rooms but the practicality... OH MY GOD!! Electricity plugs in very stupid locations. No shower curtain in bathroom which means you have a swimming pool by the time ONE person has had their shower! The deluxe room is totally not recommended - its only okayish for 1 person. & I hate to imagine the size of the single room!

Not to forget the MOSQUITOES!! Yes, a few in the room so my legs were covered in bites!

Then you get greeted by a really grumpy waitress for breakfast! And what a let down that was! As a vegetarian, you have no hope but to eat bread! One day, they didnt even have any fruit! Apparently, they hadnt had a delivery that day! Surely, for charging me $150 per night, they out to have made a better effort! I felt like slapping the waitress, she was that rude!

The TV in the room didnt work properly either. There's hardly any space to walk around. Two people in this so-called deluxe room would be tripping over each other!

The Receptionist booked me a really expensive taxi to the airport... Luckily, something prompted me to hail a cab from the road when I went to get some cash and he turned out to be much cheaper!

OH MY GOD, what a nightmare!! I had a much better deal at $140pn at the Park Royal during the 1st leg of my trip!

Room Tip: Do not choose The Ardennes Hotel - Over Priced Deluxe room is too small for 2 people & definitel...

We stayed here in April 2012. We booked 1.5 months ahead through Agoda, and arrived late in the evening from the airport to a tiny room with no windows. We asked if they had another room, but apparently it was the only one left - we kicked up a bit of a fuss, but the girl said if we had wanted a room with windows we should have requested it (!) when we booked the room. She also told us that the rooms with windows were the same price as the ones without windows, just to get our backs up a little more. It was so late and we had a 6 month old baby with us, we didnt have a choice. I have never had to sleep in a room with no windows in my life, and my girlfriend is slightly claustrophibic, so we woke up in a pretty bad mood, feeling like we had been completely cheated out of our $150 (the most expensive hotel we stayed in during 3 months in Asia). We complained again, but the girl on reception said that because we booked through Agoda, she could not give us a refund and we would have to take it up with Agoda (which I did, and they also said there was nothing they could do.) They offered us a late check out free of charge, which we accepted - not as compensation but because it was the only thing we were offered. We left very annoyed with the whole experience and feeling completely ripped off.

Regarding the hotel itself - I personally didnt like the decor at all, but thats my taste - the room was well equipped (except for lack of windows), and the standard was fine, clean etc. Nice to have a little pool. There is no choice for breakfast - you sit down and they just bring you a full english breakfast - which might be great for some but is not what we wanted at all, a bit of choice would be great. The restaurant is cold and smells of grease, but luckily they have a couple of tables out by the street where you can sit if you ask.

Room Tip: Ask for windows!!!

The room was new and clean with free WiFi although the connection was unstable.Breakfast was terrible. I was thinking about eating at somewhere else. Moreover, one of the young hotel staff was quite rude and not helpful at all. I had a few issues with this guy. Location is OK but in the evening you have to walk in the dark for 15 minutes from MRT Bugis. It's definitely better to choose a hotel in the Orchard road if you don't mind paying more, say 50 SGD per night.

Room Tip: Rooms are clean but small.

This is a great small hotel in Singapore, and a fairly priced one. An old shophouse has been converted into a hotel with less than 20 rooms. Some of the rooms are located in a new annex. The room size varies and depends of course on the price you pay. We stayed in Aqua II, one of the three rooms by the glass bottom pool. The room size (18 m2) was ok in Singapore, the decoration was modern and both the room and the bathroom were functional. The windows opened to a narrow backyard so no view but very quiet, and having a swimming pool on your doorstep was nice.

Good, free wifi, boring breakfast but a breakfast does not cost much if you have it somewhere outside (tip: make a reservation to Raffles Sunday Champagne Brunch!).

The location of the hotel is very good, 5 min walk from Bugis MRT and you can walk to downtown in 15 minutes. You are already in Arab Street neighborhood and Little India is nearby.

The final nice touch: The staff let us take a shower in the pool's changing room which was super before a 19 hour trip back home.

Spent two nights here. Booked a suite but it turned out to be a large room, 30% of which was taken up by a see-through bathroom with a huge circular, 2 foot deep bath. The whole room was decorated in black and for the first night we thought it had no windows. Second night we found the switch which pulled back the blinds and revealed the room length dorma windows.

Breakfast was disappointing and the halls \ lobbies weren't air-conditioned. Against this the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to help. In nearly three weeks and 7 hotels, this was the only one that would post a letter for us.

15 minute walk to the MRT - no problem for us but may be a drawback for others.
