“Convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

I love this hostel because there are so many good eateries nearby! One in particular that i like is the Korean restaurant up the street called Togi. Large portions and delicious food for a good price! Ryu Shi Won (korean actor) ate in the restaurant before too! Chinatown, which is nearby has lots of good places to eat too plus its a good place to buy souvenirs for loved ones back home :)

Its easy to get to this hostel too because of the MRT services.

The overall design of the hostel is bright and cheerful. Cleanliness could be improved slightly.

Hi Christine,
Thank you for taking time to write us a review! And indeed, we are very glad to be located near so many eateries offering yummy food. You must be quite a foodie! :)

Looking at the photos you've posted, it seems like you stayed with us some time ago, am I correct? I say this because we have changed the layout of some of the stuff in the photos. :) Regarding your comment about the cleanliness, we have since stepped up on our cleaning routines, and we welcome you back soon to give us another try!

Thank you & have a good day!

We spent one night in this hostel because of a stop-over in Singapore. The hostel only has dorms. The rooms have lockers and AC. Bedlinen are provided but you have to make the bed by yourself (can be annoying if you arrive late). Like the name tells, they have free breakfast (toast with jam. coffee&tea). The hostel is clean and conveniently located in Chinatown close to the MRT (subway). So, it is a good starting point for sight-seeing.

Lovely and cute hostel.. love this place so much, i stayed for 8 days! they got lounge, hot shower, breakfast, tea&coffee, and the receptionists are so friendly! My personal favorite is Xian hahaha.. she's just so adorable and very helpful.

Room Tip: choose rooms that are not located heading the streets.

It's been a while since I/ve stayed in a Backpackers and for my partner it was a first, but after adding another country to our trip we were on a budget on the way back through Singapore.

Pillows & Toast is a lovely, friendly and very clean place to stay. It is modern and can I just say again clean! The shower and toilet area's were impecable at all times.

The Dorms are dorms... what more can you say. The matresses were rather soft; it was a bit like being hugged by a big marsh mallow, but in saying that I always slept extremely well.

The only addition I would like to see is some recyclying bins - but that's just me!

I highly recommend Pillows & Toast for a comfortable budget stay!

Affordably priced hostel with clean beds, good showers and polite staff. Love the free internet at the attic. Location is great with fast access to the MRT. Definitely my top pick if I drop by again.

Very nice hostel. Overall clean and well maintained. Very cheap, very central, well situated, right next to a metro station. Staff is super nice and super helpful.
It can get a bit crowded, though. I was in a dormitory with 6 beds and it was quite cramped. Fortunately the other guest were quite respectful, so we were not too disturbed during our sleep, but I cannot imagine how dreadful it could get if I had had less respectful "roommates". The bathrooms are mostly well tended, they get a bit swamped though at some point.
But on the whole, it was much better than the average hostel.
