We stayed for 10 nights, in the king suite room on the 3rd floor. The room was fantastic for value and space, being so close to Orchard Rd, and close proximity to a MRT station (still a bit to walk to, but at least it's only 10mins with children). Great area, a little noisy with construction noises during the day and night. Even when we asked for non-smoking rooms, the room stank of cigarette smoke especially the pillows. The down side to our stay was that upon arrival we were told that we don't have the room for the first night and if it's ok to be put up in an executive room. So it's midnight and we don't have a choice especially with 2 very tired children. The next day they said they'll swap our rooms from about 9am to 1pm, they moved us into a wrong room and I had to take it up with the staff at the front desk, who insisted that I was wrong and that was the room I booked. So after I insisted on moving into the room we've booked that they accidentally 'gave' to someone else after checking their paperwork, we were going to be moved again at 230pm. So almost a day is gone, especially when you have impatient kids hanging out to see their grandma. We were then promised a discount for the entire stay, that I agreed upon, and asked for an email as a guarantee for when we check out. But for the next 3 days, no one could give us that, and was told by another staff that it's all in the system. So upon check out they had a different figure to what was said to me, so another dispute was taken up with a very unfriendly and rude manager, who met me with a 'what's the problem?'. They should really work on their customer service relations.
The swimming pool was ok. There are smokers sitting in the cafe, which then the smoke drifts to the pool area which makes it smelly for children. And after a swim, you were forced to walk another way, past the heavy cigarette smokers to get to the lift.
We tried having breakfast at the cafe but there were smokers right next to our table. We ate at the Newton food court almost everyday and that was a big plus.
Beds are a bit hard but the sheets are fine and it's comfortable. Housecleaning is shocking. We spotted some miscellaneous brown stain on the face towel, and the other towels are not that great too. They didn't vacuum the carpets at all until I asked them to.
The balcony was very dirty, including the chairs and table, but I wasn't expecting much so it didn't bother me.
Overall good rooms for the price that you pay for. But don't have any expectations at all and it'd be more enjoyable.
The suites are much better for families with kids. There's 2 types, one with 2 queen beds and a...
