“Perfect stay in Chinatown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2010

Spotlessly clean and modern hotel. Centrally situated in Chinatown, only 10 mins walk to Outram MRT station. The service was excellent, free internet a bonus. Room with tea and coffee, free soft drinks in minibar, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, safe, bathrobe, slippers, nice rain shower. The breakfast was simple, but adequate and included eggs done to your liking. We could not fault anything and had a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

Stayed in Wangz Hotel for a weekend getaway. Overall it was a pleasant experience. Upon check in (which was very fast & fuss free), I was upgraded from the Deluxe Room to the Canopy Room. The room is spacious with ample amenities. The bed is probably the most comfortable one that I've tried and I've been to other boutique hotels in Singapore like Naumi, Quincy, & Capella @ Sentosa. The duvet & bedcover is very soft & the pillows are fluffy and nice. The bathroom is spacious with rainshower & a lighting magnifying mirror for easy application of makeup/skincare. The minibar items that are not free are actually very reasonably priced. In fact, I daresay it is around the kind of price you will get if you go to a Singapore supermarket. For example, the Toblerone (medium size) is about SGD2++, the Snapple is SGD3++. The staff are very courteous & friendly without being over-eager or too 'in your face'. Although the location is not really in the city centre but I kinda like it, there is a Cheers convenience store at the Link Hotel next door, it is near to the excellent Tiong Bahru food centre & literally next to the hotel (at the Outram Rd side), there are a few shophouse eateries incl. the famous Tiong Bahru Bao.

The hotel stay comes with these complimentary stuff:
-WIFI & wired internet access
-non alcoholic beverages from the minibar + coffee/tea
-continental breakfast
-Molton Brown toiletries

Just a few minor complaints:
-as there aren't many facilities like swimming pool or sauna/spa, there may not be much to do for locals who stay there for a weekend getaway. Although they do offer DVD selection & Playstation so that's something
-I personally would like it if I can connect my laptop to the TV but the TV is kind of bolted to the wall & there are no visible ports to connect to laptop. I asked the staff but there was nothing he can do & he apologized profusely for this, which I thought was very courteous.
-the breakfast selection is very limited. My stay included continental breakfast & when I got to the 'restaurant', there was not much pastries to choose from. Not sure if in the first place it was provided as I only saw wholemeal bread types.
-I could hear the sounds coming from the opposite room which was pretty close to mine. Seems that the guests invited some friends over & they were having some sort of celebration late at night. I have no issue with that except that the rooms are not as soundproof as I want them to be. The security guard somehow found out about the noise & warned them but I kind of expected that the rooms would be more soundproof. I stayed at other hotels before incl. the types where people like to have celebrations inside their room & I never had this problem

Overall it's a nice hotel, would have liked it if they have more facilities & offer more services especially for local getaways but it's not at all a bad hotel.

We booked Wangz Hotel after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. The hotel was very chic and well-designed, and the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. We booked a regular room but upon arrival, we got upgraded to a canopy room. As it is a very small hotel, there was just one restaurant (for breakfast) and one bar (Halo at the rooftop), but all in all it was a good deal. It is a little bit out of the way, though, if you wish to be close to the main tourist area. But as we've been in Singapore before and are just looking for a relaxing place to stay, this was the perfect hotel for us. We were happy with the rooms, the service and will definitely stay here again.

Ultra modern rooms. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Located walking distance to MRT and Chinatown. Bus stop out front. Breakfast adequate. As the hotel is fairly new, make sure you have address or tell taxi driver it's next door to Link Hotel. If you are going to the new Casino make sure you take your passport or strictly NO ENTRY! Room service is restaurant quality and affordable.

it is certainly one of the most fashionable hotel in Singapore. Instead of staying in a 5 star standard hotel, i chose to stay this boutique hotel, both for saving cost and traveling differently.

My room is superior style, which is ironically the cheapest one,and it is indeed a little bit small, though space is adequate. Design is good, especially the bathroom. As some of reviewer mentioned, Wangz room receives hotel music from it public speaker system. Of coz you can turn it off or down, but the music they chosen is indeed nice melody and quite good to accompany you to sleep. Location is convenient and people there are helpful. The Halo rooftop bar is certainly a best place to relax after a full day appointments. The large and crispy projection screen makes it the wonderful place to watch world cup.

The only con of my two days stay is the breakfast, choices are too limited.

anyway, it is a wonderful stay in Wangz hotel, one of the sexiest in town.

This hotel stands out just by the architectural design, it's round and made of metal. The hotel is very small and very modern. The staff were amazing, they all remembered our family name and were very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely with beautiful bathroom. We stayed in two rooms, the first one faced some small back street with outdoor eateries. The problem with this room was that every morning around 7 the bin collectors came and made terrible noise emptying the bins. First morning we thought it was just that one but when it happened the next morning we asked for another room. This room was very similar in design and on the same floor but faced the main road. No bins there :)
The hotel is a walking distance to Outram MRT, takes about 10 minutes to walk there. The breakfast was included but was nothing special, the usual toast, bacon and eggs, yoghurt...
Try the rooftop bar in the evening, it's very nice.
The best thing about this hotel is the staff and the free internet.

The Wangz is a new hotel, however it is not a new building, but rather a refurbishment of an old building with the resulting flaws that this brings. The staff provide an excellent service, but being a small hotel services can be limited. It is unknown to taxi drivers, yet too far to walk from the nearest train station in Singapore's heat or rain. Breakfast was poor. Considering that the price was not much cheaper than downtown 5 star hotels, and its poor location, the value for money is not worth the extra effort required to stay there, just to save a few dollars.
