This hotel is on the east side, near to East Coast Park, so is roughly equidistant between Changi airport and the usual concentration of downtown hotels (Marina City, Little India, Chinatown, etc). Although this makes it out of the way for downtown nightlife and shopping, it is beside or near many restaurants and bars, especially if you include the beach area (behind the McDonalds) which is only a 10 minute walk away (beyond Marine Parade, Marine Terrace). There are also attractive jogging and biking routes through the beachside (East Coast) park. So location for many purposes is very good except for shopping. The rooms are on the small side, about half of which do not have windows, but this is noted when you reserve through the hotel's own website. Prices, however, are attractive or at least competitive with many other budget hotels. From my experience, this one is particularly clean, well maintained (fresh paint, no signs of overdue maintenance), and has free internet access which worked well for me. Although breakfast is not included, it is available inexpensively just across the street. Taxis are incredibly abundant on both streets (East Coast Road, Telok Kurau Rd). After staying in dozens of hotels in Singapore for 20 years, from Changi all the way out to Boon Lay, this place was a pleasant surprise to me. For example it is well above the standard of the "81" hotels as well as being quite superior in cleanliness and room condition (although not size) to the Albert Court Village Hotel.
