“Bad Service in the Brizo”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2011

This is my only regret for my trip to Singapore in Jan11. This hotel room was nice but we got the worst service in the world. We took a buffet breakfast in the Brizo Restaurant & Bar. My son, a 6 years old being a responsible young man, tried to grab his own bowl of coco pop with milk and walked slowly back to his seat. A black-suit waiter, called Lun (or Fun I can't remember), blocked the way and my son stopped at his back without any choice. This guy stepped back suddenly and knocked off my son's bowl causing my son got completely wet with chocolate milk. You would expect a sincere apology? Never from this guy! What even worse was he kept saying not to blame him because he could not see his back and my son was too short, and it was not his fault, bla bla bla. I saw him even talked behind our back with other guests expressing how innocent he was. What a jerk was that?

I am very disappointed with this guy if he is representing the hotel. Don't consider this hotel unless you don't mind to be treated rudely by this guy.

Comfortable room, booked four nights via Qantas Holidays from 18/11/10.
Apparently refurbished 12 months ago - staff only too pleased to assist.

I stayed for 3 nights at the Park Hotel Clarke Quay. Check in went relatively smoothly although the staff is courteous they could use a little injection of warmth. The hotel has a clean modern decor. The room was nice but cramped with inadequate storage for clothing. I was traveling alone and only had one piece of luggage so I was able to manage. Anymore and we would have been hard pressed to move around the room without bumping into each other. The room also had inadequate lighting. During the day you can pull back the curtains and let in the natural light which helped significantly but at night I would recommend a flashlight if you want to see what setting the thermostat is on. The bed was also hard and uncomfortable although the cleaning staff did an excellent job keeping the room very clean. The bathroom was comfortable and the shower was large and tiled. There was no bathtub.

As for the hotel amenities, the pool area was beautiful and relaxing. The gym was small and offered your standard treadmill, bike and universal gym equipment. It was nice that you could use your key card to workout anytime you wanted. The bar downstairs was disappointing since it did not stay open late. Clarke Quay is a few blocks away but sometimes you just want to relax in the hotel bar and have a drink. I was surprised that it was closed by 12 midnight. There is no free internet and Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby which was a pain. It requires a password which the staff will not hand out and must key it in for you on your mobile device. I found this to be very inconvenient.

The hotel is located down the street from Clarke Quay. It is approximately a 10 minute walk along the Singapore river. The city is spotless and there are people out at all hours of the day and night so you always feel safe. Getting to the metro is a little bit of a hike taking about 15 to get to the closest station in Clarke Quay and it is not clearly marked so get directions before you head out.

Overall the hotel was clean, the staff helpful but could use a little more polish, the amenities were good with the exception of the wi-fi issue, and the location of the hotel was good. I believe there are other hotels in the area that can offer a little more for the same value. My recommendation is to shop around.

We stayed at this hotel in January 2011 for three nights. The location is very good as it is only a short walk to Clarke Quay.

The best part about the hotel would have to be the pool. It is a decent size with sunbeds located around the pool. There is a good view of the Singapore River and CBD from the deck.

Our room was quite small, but it had all the basics. The hotel has free wireless internet, however this is only available in the lobby and there is a tedious sign in process. The gym has all the latest equipment.

Overall this is a nice hotel, however it does not represent good value for money.

* Later checkout in clubclass
* Some of the decor looks very tired and needs updating some areas need TLC
* Fresh local flowers in the club class lounge should be standard
* Table cloths on the tables at breakfast time would improve the ambiance
* Soap is so thin it falls through the bars in the shower shelf ..... I think all the toiletries could be improved upon. We have struggled with one piece of soap in the shower for two days!
I hope this is helpful. We have enjoyed our stay mainly due to Evelyn and her teams attention.

Room clean, supposed to have a superior room. But it was small. Pool lovely, staff very nice, bus service the hotel provides around Singapore really useful.

We stayed for a 2 night stopover on the way home from Vietnam. My friend at first was disappointed in the hotel: No grand lobby area, very small rooms, no balcony (she's a smoker) and miles away from Orchard Rd! However, she was smitten by the end. It was clean, we asked for an ironing board and got it, our booking included breakfast which was really good (though you sometimes had to queue). Pool area is lovely but we had neither the weather nor the time to appreciate it. But the location is great - loads and loads of bars and restaurants in walking distance and only a short taxi ride anywhere else. In our short stay we managed a meal at the Indochine (Clarke Quay); coffee at Bella's Pizza (Clarke Quay); a morning shopping in Orchard Road; coffee at the Hyatt alfresco coffee on the corner of Orchard and Scott St (good spot); a singapore sling at the Raffles, a wander around China Town and great lunch at a market, a 1 hr river boat tour (Clarke Quary) and a night at the Ku De Ta bar on the 57th floor of the Marina Bay Sands monstrosity. Ku De Ta super expensive - $60 for 2 glasses of sauvignon blanc - but the view is to die for - well worth the investment. It was my first trip to Singapore and a great choice for a stop over - clean, safe and plenty to do. The only drawback is that it is so.... expensive to eat and drink...
