“Reasonable Japanese food, Clarke Quay area, service slow”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2011

The restaurant is located along the "busy" side of Clarke Quay. It has the Japanese style arrangement with low tables, but of course you are not required to remove the shoes. But I found the arrangement unconfortable. The service was slow at all times, and we had to wave several times in order to get our orders first, and then various items which were missing from the table. The food was good but not impressive. Location is of course very good if you pass by but that is all.

“Japan in Singapore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

Feel like you are in a izakaya restaurant in japan. Very crowded and noisy, seem to me like everyone and table is having a celebration!

“Lovely Food, Nicely surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2011

After wondering around for nearly an hour trying to pick a restaurant on the quay we went into Tomo. We ordered stewed pork, soft shell crab, beef wtih shitake mushrooms, whitebait rice and california sushi rolls, I have to say it was all so tasty and wonderful. We really enjoyed it. Service wasn't amazing, but sitting on the quay with a buzzy atmosphere more than made up for it. I would eat here again.

“Excellent Japanese food in the heart of Clarke Quay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2010

Had dinner here. They have sunk-in tables which comfortably seat you, like of which you can find plenty in other Izakayas (loosely translates to watering hole) in Japan. Very nicely done interior and an open kitchen.

Lots of Japanese clientele usually means the food should be good and it was indeed good food per my experience. Price is average for Japanese food, but definitely good for the quality. One of the best Edamame I've had in the region, just perfectly cooked.

Service is also consistent and we did not experience any problems. They stay open past midnight to cater to the clubbers I guess.
