I stayed in a family room which is very economical and good, but before checking in at 2pm , i was given a small room to fresh up which is literally a double room with only bed in the room and you cannot even open suit cases on the floor and they have charged 15dollars per hour,it was too small. But the family room which we had booking was good ,there is a indian restaurant which is very nearyby to the hotel which is of great advantage anand bhavan hotel i think .hotel is clean and good

Room Tip: Take a room with window only

I having stayed at another Hotel 81 I knew what to expect. Small but clean room. Clean and functional bathroom but small.....switch on the shower and the whole toilet gets wet. Nice comfortable bed but BIG pillows. There was broadband available and I used it on all three days. It said $10 per day but they didn't charge me. There are not restaurants attached to the hotel but there are plenty of eating options just outside the hotel. Location is excellent. Rooms need a little more sound proofing. You can hear people walking with the luggage during the night. If you are on a budget and you want a clean comfortable place, then you must seriously consider this hotel.

When i booked the hotel online, i thought that the pictures looked fantastic and that for the price of 129 Singaporean Dollar, it shall be good value for money.

However, when i got there, the room was so small and the staff were very unfriendly. The Chinese man receptionist told me "go and look la" when i asked him for directions. I am still wondering what la means in English.

Last but not the least, people were checking in for periods of two hours. I had trouble sleeping at night as there were plenty of noises in my neighbor's room. I just could not close my eyes at all and i was wondering when that woman or the guy next door will get tired.

That was my experience.

veeeery small rooms !! the window was shadowed and covered with a heavy curtain and can't be opened (I am not sure but it could be that some rooms are without window). aircondtion cannot be turned off by yourself, you have to call the reception. the staff is very unfriendly, if you want an advice for the city you have to be patient and ask several times. we stayed two nights, and the second night we could not sleep until 3am because it was sooo noisy: we called the reception twice but nothing happened. no breakfast, no internet available, no safe.
if you have a small budget and want to be in the center of singapore then I can recommend this hotel. but if you like a higher comfort and maybe spend some time of the day in your room - look for another place to stay.

Friendly staff (recognised us when we arrived), prompt service when we required it.
After reading the reviews it was pretty much what we had expected (apart from hearing so much noise from other guests ie. lift bell, doorbells, telephone ringing, doors banging and general chit-chat.
Yes the rooms were small but posed no particular problem.
Great location, would even stay there again.

Room very very small, not much floor space only the bed, however was clean and secure. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Free broadband internet with my laptop really worked although there was not really any where to put the computer apart from the bed. Convenient to walk to Little India and the Bugis and Bras Basah areas. Good price for a place to rest while stopping on the way from Australia to Europe. Pillows did not have real pillow cases but I always travel with my own pillow. Previously stayed in Hotel 81 Joo Chiat in a deluxe room. Much better, more floor and proper window. Will try to choose something a little bigger next time but would stay again if I could not find anything else.
