The older we get , the more taxing the flight to Australia, so what better way to split the journey than with an overnight stay at the most convenient hotel, at Singapore Changi Airport.
Situated next to the Arrivals Hall in Terminal 3, we were checking in within 30 minutes of landing.
The Crowne Plaza is splendidly modern in concept, understated and spotless, with efficient, friendly staff.
We were allowed complimentary use of the Club on Level 3, comprising Gym, Spa and beautiful outdoor Pool. There is also a wonderful Club Lounge with soft drinks and alcohol available, as well as snacks: sushi, canapés, cheeses to name but three, between 17.30 & 19.30 plus a lovely continental breakfast from 06.30, and all inclusive in the room price! Wi-fi is available free here, too!
The staff in the lounge were really friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble.
We dined at the Azur restaurant in the hotel: the food, which is very, very, good, is beautifully cooked and presented with myriad buffet choices, and desserts incredible in both choice and presentation. Pricey? Yes, but we were made aware of the buffet fixed price at the desk as we entered, so no complaints.
As the hotel is connected to the terminal and is between two runways, it does suffer a little from taxiing aircraft noise, due to the open balcony-type corridors, but the upside is that the rooms more than make up for this with their vast double glazed windows, glass walled bathroom, king sized bed and all the details you would expect in a hotel of this calibre.
Our Deluxe room was priced at £152 per night, arranged through Travel Counsellors, as was the whole trip. They take all the hassle out of travelling offering an efficient, friendly, one to one service. We would never use anyone else!
