“NICE BUT OVERPRICED”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The hotel provided 5 star comfort & facilities. Staff were very friendly & courtiousRoom service twice daily. Because were stayed over 5 nights 5pm checkout was offered and accepted as we has 10.30 pm flight. Buffet breakfast (thank goodness it was included in our package) was very enjoyable, excellent variety hot, cold all beautifully presented.Staff very attentive, 'egg service' no more than 4 min wait. Free shuttle bus every 2 hrs in Singapore till midnight.
Only complaint about resort food extremely overpriced. We are average people who save for holiday, and usually have what we want on a holiday, but these prices were exorbitant.Beer &18 per glass, steak $98, oysters $10 per oyster. Breakfast $38.
We actually ate at Sentosa Golf Resort (5min stroll over the road.Meals absolutely delicious and excellent variety. Staff welcomed us with open arms.
Would recommend Sentosa Island to anyone. So much to see and do.Public transport free on island as is monorail. very clean, punctual. Singapore itself beautiful, clean, safe(zero tolerance) so no crime / drugs, taxi drives polite, chatty and extremely informative. We were 4 seniors and would go back in an instant. Sentosa Island wonderful for families.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to be garden view. No beach view available, but stairway down to beach from pool ar...

My girlfriend and I went to Singapore Resort & Spa Sentosa for a 2D1N staycation at Level 1 (Room 130) on 11-12 Dec. We were pleased with the garden view and everything was lovely and great. Nice pool, nice environment, nice spacious room, quality live jazz at night, good service all round.

However, the next morning, we were horrified to see 3 adult cockroaches running around the room! We immediately contacted the housekeeping department and the staff came, armed with insecticide.

Having ordered room service for breakfast just before discovering the roaches, we had no choice but to eat our breakfast at the corridor to avoid 1)roaches 2)insecticide in our food. This of course was not what we expected when we paid a few hundred dollars for the room. Much to our chagrin, we noticed another dead cockroach outside at the corner of our door.

The housekeeping staff left after catching/killing the three roaches. Tied for time, my girlfriend called the duty manager to extend the checkout time since we had only started breakfast.
At this point, I must applaud that he was polite and prompt, allowing the extension to 4.00pm quickly.

Assuming that the coast was clear, my girlfriend returned to the toilet only to be traumatized by another live cockroach falling off from the metal flap while retrieving toilet paper.
Imagine her terror, as she ran out screaming and she was disturbed for the entire day.

We called the duty manager again to request for a change of room immediately as we could not stay a second longer. We definitely did not want a change to the same level, hence we waited at the lounge where coffee was arranged for us. En route to the lounge, guess what we saw - yet another cockroach (dead) along the corridor.

The manager arranged a room upgrade, late checkout at 6pm and informed us that they wrote off the room service bill during our checkout.

While we commend the manager for his efforts, promptness and professionalism, we were terribly disappointed with the experience we had. A 5-star hotel like Singapore Resort and Spa Sentosa, infested with cockroaches was unacceptable! We encountered a total of 6 cockroaches, 4 alive and 2 dead in one morning.

Our first experience has totally destroyed our confidence of having a comfortable stay at Singapore Resort and Spa Sentosa. From our trauma, we eventually went round knocking the toilet roll metal flaps and towels to ensure that there were no hidden cockroaches in the new room. Plus, the room upgrade seemed meaningless since we did not need the extra space.

If anyone from the hotel is reading this, I would appreciate a reply on what the hotel will be doing to rectify this problem.

Room Tip: Avoid low level as there might be cockroaches.

We stayed in this hotel on 12-14 December, we were 3 adults so booked a suite as this was cheaper than two rooms. The room itself was OK, there was one large king bed with a reasonably sized fold out bed, it was certainly big enough for an adult. The rooms are very dark and, disappointingly, didn't have a balcony where we could sit and relax. The view from the room was of a road where the delivery trucks passed. None of the rooms seem to have a balcony, the hotel is set up over two wings (East / West) rather than round a pool or facing the sea, which would have been better and is quite confusing to navigate around. The rooms were clean and provided the basics you will need (save for a sewing kit) and include free wi-fi which is good.

The breakfast buffet was disappointing. They have an egg station which has a good selection of fillings but is popular so order as soon as you get there, I asked for an egg white omelette which, after waiting for 20 minutes, turned up as a normal omelette but as it was 10:30 I was too late to order another one; they clear the breakfast at 10:30am sharp, at one point I was filling up a bowel with cereal when one of the waiters cleared the bowl from in front of me while I was still using it. There could have been more fruit and yogurts and fresh healthy food to choose from. The cooked food was only OK.

The pool area is spacious with lots of beds and helpful staff. The steps down to the beach were convenient and the hotel is conveniently located to get to the beach or walk down to Tanjong Beach Club. We did not use any other the other facilities.

Generally, the staff were all very friendly, the check in and out staff were very friendly, as were the ladies who cleaned the room.

The hotel is adequate, but, for the amount of money we spent on the room, room service, drinks, lunches etc. we were left feeling a little disappointed. I think for the same money there are nicer hotels you can stay in in Singapore.

Staid here two nights on company retreat.
None of our rooms had hot water. Internet did not work for one day. Hotel staff were impolite and never asked about our stay. Room was dirty, especially bathroom. They constantly asked for more money, even though we dropped +$10k

Can't believe they can charge $400 a night for this awful experience. Avoid at all costs

Nice place and love the rooms! Kids were jumping all over the bed! However there are not enough places to eat there and we had to go out for dinner!

I particularly liked the bathroom and we cld have the kids playing in the bath tub! It is big and spacious for 2 kids!

The best access option to the resort is by taxi from Changi Airport, ours was $25. Make sure you print out a copy of your hotel booking that way you avoid paying the Sentosa Island access fee.

The hotel is large with two main guest wings. Unlike most resorts the rooms are not based around the swimming pool area. Our room was in the west wing on the second floor (ground level). We booked a junior suite. The room itself was big with plenty of space, the location of the room was terrible. It was dark and the view was, well, non existent. There was two chairs and a small table outside of our sliding door but there's no way you'd want to sit there, especially as the resorts service vehicles are regularly parked outside. The bathroom had a great bath but the toilet was smelly (it reminded my wife of a public toilet). The TV was terrible, the colour quality was so bad that at times you couldn't make out what you were watching. The resort has a Spa that is a 5 minutes walk from the main resort, it's branded as a So Spa (by Sofitel) we didn't visit so can't comment on the service. The hotels gym is confusing to locate, our best guess is that it's located at the spa, we never found it. It wasn't just us that we're confused we spoke to other guests who had the same trouble. The pool area is nice but the choice to paint the pool midnight blue/black makes the pool unappealing, it's a strange look. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choices, nothing outstanding but was a good start to the day. The hotel check-in/check-out staff were nice and helpful. There was a western staff member that we came across on a number of occasions, she seemed to avoid guest interactions and came across quite snobby, perhaps she was new and unsure on how to interact with customers. The gardens of the resort are beautiful it's a real oasis with peacocks roaming throughout. Access to the surrounding attractions is easy. There's a bus from the hotel that takes you direct to Vivo City shopping centre as well as Bus 3 that takes you around the island. We chose to walk to Palawan Beach (5 minutes) and get the tram, it's a much faster option if you're heading towards Beach Station. Sentosa has plenty of things to do, you can easily fill 3 days here.

Overall our stay was enjoyable but the hotel itself seems a little confused. The resort is managed by Accor. I'm not sure what service standard they are setting out to achieve. There are suggestions of Sofitel, such as the branding on the towels in the rooms but this hotel is a long way from that standard both in service levels and the quality of the furnishings and rooms. I'd say it's more of a Mercure or Novotel standard.
