“Expensive and innovative”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

If you like to try a French restaurant with a twist and are prepared to spend, no harm trying this restaurant. The portions are small for the price tag. Service is friendly but facing the kitchen may or may not be one's preference. Perhaps a more Paris restaurant atmosphere is better than a tense formal setting?

“Great food but an awful service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

The food was really excellent, certainly one of the best meal we had in Singapore in a long time. The bread service is an experience in itself. However the service led by Rest. manager Guillaume was awful. No consideration for the guests(table of 9), blaming the chef for delays but refusing to acknowledge that he could have done a better job, the sommelier doesn't know that a Martini is served with a green olive! A pity when the food is so good.

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

While most of the dishes were ok, nothing really stood out except the really bad things - both in terms of food and service. Had the discovery menu (the create your own menu thing on the website is apparently only for weekdays - there wasn't any clear indication of this on the website so by the time you find out, you're already at the restaurant and it's kinda late to do anything but eat there).

The fish dish was a Sole with bone in - that's very usual in a european restaurant and it was also very bad. The fish was not properly cooked - it was still cold in the middle (which meant it was cut into already). Sent it back, and the chef insisted it was properly and fully cooked, but that he would cook it some more. That's the same piece of fish that was already cut into and been sitting in sauce - for all he knows, it could have spit in it and he's putting it back to cook and contaminating the cooking surfaces. While I might expect this from somewhere which charges $10 a pop, I certainly do not expect a chef at an establishment like this to (a) argue about whether the fish was cooked, and (b) put the same piece of fish that was already cut into back to cook. Even when the fish came back after re-cooking, it was still not properly cooked inside. In any event, the fish tasted so bad that it was not worth eating.

There were a few other dishes that were clearly misses as far as I was concerned, but nothing was as bad as the fish. However, nothing really stood out - the amuse bouche was probably the best thing I had the night, and that is how sad the food was.

During the course of our meal, they started adding table settings / seats on either side of us (hence making it quite cramped - the table mats were almost touching each other). And to take the cake, they asked us if we can move a seat down in the middle of our meal because one of the parties suddenly added an additional person. In any event, this was clearly untrue because when the people arrived later, it was two separate couples.

Overall, it was just terrible and I will certainly not be returning.

“Amazing food and good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

We had a lovely set menu at the restaurant with impeccable service. Unlike some reviews here, we were very fortunate to have staff who took the time to explain each course, and recommend great wine to pair with the food, although it was a busy Saturday evening. Would definitely recommend.

“Not up to par”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

Given the hype over this restaurant, I really think they could do much better compared to their other restaurants. Service is also a hit and miss.
