“Still good for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

The family rooms are worth it as it's so hard to get accommodation for four/five people. However as mentioned in other reviews, one of the three rooms we booked had a severely musty smell. The hotel gave us another but it was a nuisance all the same. We didn't check out the restaurants but there was a hassle with room service for some reason, despite paying in advance and leaving a credit card they refused us room service unless we paid cash. Lastly a booking for tickets at Universal Studios was stuffed up as they issued tickets for the wrong day. In general OK but needs a little work.

The location of this hotel can't be faulted and is perfect for Universal Studios, the attractions of Sentosa, and Vivocity for shopping. The rooms we had have a very convenient raised bed for a child and were reasonably appointed, but were spoilt by a musty smell. Overall, I felt it was very expensive for what we got and wouldn't choose to stay there again.

To start with, all hotels on Sentosa attractive a premium tariff in comparison to those located in Singapore. This hotel, I found, was the better of the cheaper range on Sentosa - due to the fact our choices were limited (staying within a budget) as we required 3 separate beds . In saying that, I found paying a premium is worth the convenience, as most attractions are very close to this hotel (and other RWS hotels, Hard Rock, Michael etc.) which saves the two way commute between Singapore (and Sentosa gantry fees??). Several places are even linked via a mall - Casino and Hotel Michael. Access to eating places, shops, Lake of Dreams and Universal Studios are all really close and very convenient. Even the access to Merlion, Impah lookout, cable cars etc is close and an easy walking distance (with escalators!!)
NB: After a full day of activities including Universal Studios, we were all relieved it was far to the hotel and not having to "get" all the way back into Singapore!]

Overall, the hotel is pleasant (inside and out), adequate and very conveniently located, and the staff are polite and helpful. Check in was fast and efficient (mainly due to pre-paid booking) and we were even upgraded. However, the new room that was offered only had a queen bed or two single options (no sleeper sofa) and thus a pointless gesture - though the thought counts, I suppose. As standard with a hotel of this rating, our luggage was taken upon arrival and ushered to our room (about 5-10 minutes max.)

Access to most rooms are via an adequate supply of elevators - presentable, clean and efficient. Our corridor to our room was on the narrow side and quite lengthy (hence lots of rooms), but still quite presentable and reasonably clean. (We noticed a few dishes / stainless bowl that hung around outside of rooms in excess of 24 hours....at one stage we joked about the fancy SS bowl as it was in the same place for well over 24 hours! - all these things were used, but had no visible food scraps nor smells etc.)

Our room was at the end of this lengthy corridor, and overall was small-ish for 3 people but adequate for our stay as we would be out doing things and only needing a place to sleep and shower etc. with adequate security and amenities. We had a balcony room (over looking the pool) with two single beds and a sleeper sofa, and an ensuite. The room was well decorated, clean and with sufficient furniture, equipment and amenities, and the ensuite was also clean, with a decent shower area, separate toilet cubicle (both have clear glass partitions) and a vanity area located between.
The single beds were comfy with large, fluffy pillows (very comfy), but the sleeper sofa was not. The bedding supplied (on request) for the sofa was not adequate as the blanket was not thick enough unlike the lovely doona/quilts on the singles. When the sofa bed was spread out (not a fold out style) the base of the sofa is hard / wood and runs down the middle so your just limited to the sofa's cushion on the ground - which is not adequate and uncomfortable. I would only recommend this sofa to be used by primary school aged children.
Overall the room was OK but a bit expensive for what you get. We had few negatives; 1) water pressure was low 2) flushing capacity in the toilet cistern was low and took awhile to refill 3) mini bar refrigerator has a set thermostat so drinks aren't chilly cold, only just cold 4) ice bucket but no proper drinking glasses - though there is a free ice machine located near the elevators (plus a vending machine for snacks) 5) and as mentioned before the sleeper sofa as a bed (OK as a sofa for sitting - quite comfy). Other than these mainly small problems and it's premium price (for the Sentosa convenience) the hotel is OK and we had a pleasant stay.

The hotel also offers a small cafe/restaurant in it's lobby area (no comment as we didn't use it due to the vast array of outside options within walking distances - but it didn't look too appealing) and a pool area with ample sun beds, towels and umbrellas and a small "kiddy" pool for the toddlers. Due to our day activities, and the early closing time of the pool, we didn't get to use this area, so there may have been more amenities / equipment on offer. There also may have been more to the hotel as well, but again we only really utilised this hotel as a sleeping / showering and stowage point.

The staff we encountered (front office / bell hops / concierge) we all very helpful and polite. At one stage we needed to print off a ticket to Universal Studios and although they didn't have a business centre we were directed to the Hard Rock Hotel (just next door after the convention centre) who were also very polite and accommodating. In fact they just printed it out off the front desk - so helpful. I originally planned to stay at this hotel, but when the third person joined plans had to be changed. However, we did eat at the buffet on our last night on Sentosa and it was really nice, but again a bit pricey as per Sentosa.

I think I will be returning to Sentosa again, but although this hotel was very pleasant and was reasonably faultless, I would try to stretch my budget to facilitate a better hotel. In saying that, I would recommend this hotel to others but emphasizing the fact about the sleeper sofa's inappropriateness for a bed.

I booked this hotel as a part of a deal package from Mastercard, as I was to spend 3 days in Sentosa and it did not make sense to stay at Singapore and do daily trips. Turns out, it was a great decision.
Located right in the center of Resort World, it was a walking distance from all key resort attractions like Universal Studios, Adventure Cove, and SEA Aquarium. Yes, the other hotel (Michael) was even nearer, but this served best since we booked the Deluxe Family room that had a queen bed, a sofa bed and a Loft bed - the kids just loved it! The bathroom was not small, and the the room comfy with a good balcony as well. Walking to key attractions was not a problem, and the mono-rail was not far too if you wanted to get to the beach or the vivo-city mall in Singapore side. The hotel gave you travel pass that made traveling through the beach tram and mono-rail free, and I would recommend using it to get to vivocity if you wanted a change of taste for dinner.
The staff was helpful, though it does get crowded at the reception at peak check-in time. We were there on the weekdays, so it wasn't that bad. It did take quite some time for housekeeping to pick up the phone (multiple times), though.
Overall, an excellent choice if you want to spend a few nights in Sentosa with your family.

Room Tip: Book a Deluxe Family room if you have kids in the age group of 4-10 - they would love it, and it wou...

spent 2 nights and 3 days in the hotel. Room wes big but did not have single almirah to put your stuff in so it was lying out in open . Bathrooms were dirty and dark. There was no options for availbility of food for vegetarian people like us. Cleaning staff was prompt in response but with average performance. with 250SD a night, either my expecations was wrong with the hotel or it should be ideally put in budget hotel category. Location was great, saved a lot of time for us. And yes it offers only paid Wifi.

Location is great, walking distance to casino and universal studio. Room was spacious but no minibar (they do provide a fridge in the room but it was empty). The front desk staff was rude, no smile. We has requested cutlery at night and was told that its chargeable at SGD$5. This is ridiculous!! Not worth the price.
However the operator was very helpful.
