“Excellent place for a short staycation.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

Stayed the weekend at RWS Hard Rock Hotel Singapore with my family. Great environment, excellent pool and good location. Only thing is the staff are quite sticky about check-in and check-out times. Late check-out request felt like we were being offered charity when this place gives a later-than-standard check-in time.

Room Tip: Note that there are rooms with and without a balcony. Know what to request for.

I am a very experienced traveler and I actually prefers 3 to 4 stars hotel when I travel.
I heard about HRC hotel in Singapore as a good hotel to travel with kids as the have a very good pool.
I emailed the hotel and the quoted me a very very expensive rate. For the same money I could stay in Raffles or Marina Sands.
I was planning  to stay with another hotel but then found a 50 percent discount on a Hong Kong website and I booked for 4 nights.
Still expensive but it would turn out worse.

Arriving to the hotel at 1300 there was 4 people waiting to check in.
We waited for 30 to 40 min before we were checked in. The lobby is typical 3 star with the HRC memorabilia here and there.
Also found out that the hotel will charge you 25 USD per night for Internet!
On the way to the room we went thru a corridor of garbage smell. My wife thinks its from the A/C but it could be from garbage in the area.
The room was standard with 3 posters of Sting. Not a bad room but absolutely not fantastic.

Found it very dirty around ventilation duct.

Baby cot wasn't there as promised but a few hours later and a few reminders it would be sorted out!

Went for lunch and there is no HRC restaurant it's a more standard hotel restaurant. The lunch was quite nice but pricy. Almost same buffet in the evening.  Who wants to eat buffet all the time? Very limited a la carte menue.

The pool is great but be prepared to take your sun beds at 0730 otherwise they are all taken.  Honestly this hotel  is a little scam. It's expensive expensive and expensive.  While some of the staff are nice this hardly compensates for the managements push to make an extra dollar here and there.

The hotel might be fully booked but the restaurants and bars empty. I think people just found it too expensive and headed to the close mall.

There is no soul here and the management is only gone rock your wallet
You can't go wrong if you go somewhere else!

I stayed at teh Hotel for 3 days and 2 nights at RWS Hard rock Hotel for management retreat. I like the set up and also the interior deco for the corridor and the room. But there are a few places that need significant improvement.

For the room, remote control has some volume control issues and I check with my collegue they too have the same problem which was hi-lighted by other users' reviews. Some Balconies cannot lock properly I had to help 2 of my lady collegue to forced closed it

Starz Restaurant. I have 2 lunch and a dinner at the Starz. Not a good spread, thing are not fresh and food doesnt taste good. Some things to hi-light: Wargu Burger are not properly cook (especially for some one that like to eats Medium Rare steaks and beef tartar this is still too bloody for me.). Sushi are cold and hard, Curry mutton only has mostly mutton fats in it and has nomeat.
The Chef or chef assistant were talking loudly to each other ignoring the guest which is queing for their food. Shortage of serving staff and also cooking staff though it was not very crowded.

Would not recommend anyone to go to the Starz restaurant.

Room Tip: Do not choose the room above the lobby Loungue as it will be too noisy as there is live band at nigh...

stayed 2 nights. not quite sure what to make of it. rooms were decently sized. bathrooms were clean. everything was decent. only issues in the room were that tv speakers in the room were faulty and the lack of a chair for the writing table. outside the room, on the other hand, was really bad. noisy neighbour kids running in the corridor (can't blame the hotel for that). Live act in the hotel lobby bar were playing at a ridiculously loud level. granted that the band were pretty good, but the sound level was just uncomfortably loud. the noise was so loud that the sound actually travels up the lift shafts, so if u were to stand in the lift lobbies of the various upper floors, you could hear very clearly the music that was playing in the lobby.

Was here for a staycation by the invitation of friends and it was also my second stay at Hard Rock Hotel. Rooms are big and nice, but we were unlucky this time round that the TV in our room was giving us a real hard-rocking time! The volume was already tuned to the lowest, but still the speaker was crackling and popping non stop, vibrating too loud and bombing us continuously. It was like a live Typhoon Theatre show happening right in our room, minus the water! The staff came to solve the speaker problem but it only lasted normally for a few hours before it came back to irritate us again!

Room is big enough for five people, but towels, toothbrushes, bathrobes and slippers are only provided for TWO. So, bring your own towel if there are more than two staying in the room. Shower gel was not refilled on the day we checked in, which I feel it reflects much on the service standards. Isn't it the norm to check if everything is in order and refilled whenever guests checks out and new guests checks in? During my first stay, after housekeeping, the towels, bathmat and toiletries wasn't replaced or replenished. We had to call Housekeeping to ask for this and that, when we came back to our room only to find that everything, even the bathmat has disappeared.

Besides the empty bottle of shower gel in the bathroom, there was also some problems with the toilet flush; no shower caps were provided. Had to call twice in order to get the shower gel come to our room. Called first time, waited and waited and no one came, so had to call a second time! Imagine if one is halfway in the shower and is stuck there waiting for the shower gel! Could have freezed while waiting!

The hotel is also very unique that they only have a one and only bottle opener, so we had to ask the staff to help us open 6 bottles of beer at one shot, because they cant leave their one and only opener with us, and we dont feel good if we were to call them up to our room to open for us each time we finish one bottle. It's so ridiculous that a five star hotel like this has only one bottle opener and according to the staff its their personal one, not hotel property. And also, they only have one remote control to adjust the settings of the tv speaker! Speechless!

Was also quite irritated that we were constantly being disturbed by staff who pressed on our doorbell and says they need to check/replace the doorbell, and another time to ask if we had touched anything in the minibar! So, what's the purpose of asking us if we had touched anything in the minibar, isn't it more appropriate that they come in personally to check after we check out? We also overheard staff saying he need to check the tv in one of the rooms when we walked past the corridor. Cant these things be checked when rooms are not occupied or during the transit period after check-outs and before check-ins? It can be a nuisance if guests just need a good rest or are doing some important work and do not wished to be disturbed.

Rooms facing the pool has a much better view than those facing the sea! And it is also bigger in room and toilet size, and with a balcony too! The bathroom in poolview rooms also has in-built shelves unlike the seaview rooms where we could only put our toiletries on the floor!

On the good side, we love how comfy and soft the bed is! We really slept soundly on the comfy bed! The gym and swimming pool was great too, very big and beautiful pool, which is a plus factor for families with children! We also enjoyed the 3 TWG tea bags provided, finally it's more than two!

Upon check-out, we heard the reception staff answering a guest query, that a room per night is around $450. If I were to pay this kind of money, its more justifiable to get one with much better service and better maintenance of rooms. We did enjoy our stay in the hotel but to pay $450 per night, It's just not worth it!

Room Tip: Ask for pool facing rooms, they are bigger with nicer views and with balcony.

Well placed for Universal Studios. Great pool area - lane swimming and 'beach'/kids area. Friendly staff but not at the level of enthusiasm that many other Sentosa attractions have - no sign of rock n roll. Wifi is expensive and charged per device not room. Bar is not in a separate room but just in the lobby which denies it atmosphere. We had a twin room for a family of four which was spacious and good views.

Am here on a staycation with my friends. Other than the amount of ppl that can all bunk in, the management should really do something about the maintenance.... the speaker crackles and thunder like sound kept coming out when the volume is a wee bit louder... (just like a typhoon theatre) shower gel was not refilled. Super duper cold air con. If u would like a nice view, do tell them that you want the pool facing rooms. Its bigger and with balcony. The sea facing ones are smaller. Toilet is smaller and without balcony.
