“Great Accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Received a recommendation to stay at the Reef Retreat from a colleague.

Reef retreat offers clean, tidy accommodation in a location handy to Bulabog Beach and 5 - 10min walk to White Beach. The rooms are quite simple and some would say basic however this does not imply anything negative and we felt added to the charm of the facility. It was constructed 4 - 5 years ago and is very well kept and presented. Hot showers, a balcony with seats, cable television, airconditioning and free wifi are all features. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the room was serviced daily plus the minibar prices are reasonable.

There is a kite surfing school at the front door and a windsurfing school next door where you can hire equipment or take lessons. Also there is a handy cafe 2 doors down who will deliver to your room at the Reef Retreat or serve you drinks and food on the beach.

You can order proper massages at the resort however if you are the type of person who expects full resort facilities ie pool, day spa, onsite bar etc and would be inconvenienced by their absence then perhaps stay elsewhere.

Ever since college, me and my friends badly wanted to go to Boracay. Unfortunately, we never really got the chance to plan a trip back then. While I was browsing in Groupon last August, I found out that Reef Retreat had a promo for their rooms. By impulse, I immediately bought a couple of coupons and informed my friends days later that our long-awaited Boracay escapade would finally come into fruition. Good thing I was able to buy the coupons, because our stay in Reef Retreat made our trip a vacation to remember.

Located a stone's throw away from Bulabog Beach, Reef Retreat is true to its name as it is a few minutes away from the bustling nightlife of Boracay's stations. Before our trip, we had already coordinated with the owners of the resort and they were prompt enough to reply to our queries. Despite the electronic exchange, we could feel the hospitality and the enthusiasm in each of their replies. Once we landed in the airport, we were fetched by one of the resort's staff. The staff was very helpful and she made every effort to ensure that our trip from the airport to the resort was smooth.

Upon arriving at the resort, we had to sort out matters with the front desk as the rooms we reserved were only good for six people expected to be part of the trip, which was only half the size of our actual group. Fortunately, the staff assigned at the front desk was very helpful and patient while our group was deciding on what to do. The front desk staff was even apologetic when she informed us that one room would be short of the extra bed because they did not want us to have an uncomfortable stay. Fortunately, we were able to fix the issues and all of us were able to stay at Reef Retreat.

The rooms were really nice and the staff would ask daily if our towels needed changing. Wi-fi was accessible in all the rooms we rented and the connection was fairly fast. The balconies had a great view of Bulabog Beach, and the courtyard below was a great place to hang out while enjoying the warmth of the early morning sun. The staff were very helpful when our group was planning activities and meals as they had a comprehensive list of activities and a handful of menus from restaurants nearby. Tricycles abound the street fronting the resort, so it was not difficult for us to travel from Reef Retreat to the stations if we got tired of walking.

If you are a fan of water sports and activities, Reef Retreat is the resort for you given its proximity to Bulabog Beach. Admittedly, our group only had the energy for a day of water sports during our four-day stay, but our stay in Reef Retreat was nonetheless worthwhile. After a long day of swimming, dining, and partying at the stations, Reef Retreat offered the peace and quiet that we were looking for. I am definitely looking forward to our next Boracay trip!

Room Tip: If you plan to travel in a big group, try Reef Retreat's adjoining rooms on the second floor. Wi...

Found this wonderful place on Trip Advisor. After a horrible start on Boracay, where we were picked up by a guide at the airport, and shown to a couple of horrid places, we woke up and went back to the trusty trip advisor (which we should have done in the first place, duh), and found the Reef Retreat. Very reasonably priced rooms, and very friendly staff. Room service daily, made sure the room was tidy, the towels clean and the mini bar well stocked.
As an added bonus, the mini bar prices are just normal prices, not over inflated, and you could feel happy, raiding the mini bar for a cold beer. Great stuff.
We had Suite 2, which had a kitchen, so was great for whipping up a quick feed.
The location is great and is only a quick 2 or 3 minutes trike ride to DMall, or if your'e feeling fit, maybe max a 10 minute walk, good to build a a thirst for the multitude of Bars.
Highly reccomended, we intend on staying here again on our next trip to Boracay. Which can't come soon enough.

Service: The staffs are really helpful and friendly. We are leaving at 4am to catch our flight and they purposely come early just to help us settle the check out procedure and make sure the driver did come to pick us up.

Room: A very nice room indeed but the decorations bring ants to bed. They placed some fresh flowers on the bed as decoration together with the towel and when we take away the towel we saw LOTS of ant underneath. Besides, the lounge chair at the balcony has insects crawling as well. The bathroom is not that clean either, the toilet bowl has stain on it.

Food: There is no in house restaurant but I saw this menu placed on the dressing table in the room. The little kitchen is just next to the hotel, its called Chicken Loop Cafe. The chef Anton is a very nice guy and the food is awesome!! Must try his cooking when you are there. We met 2 Australian and 1 Brazilian there. The 5 of us keep going back for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is like going back home for a meal and catch up with friends.

We stayed in one of the suites at Reef Retreat and we absolutely loved it.

Every room is decorated to a high standard, with quite possibly the most comfortable beds ever!
All rooms look out over the garden, and your literally 10 seconds walk from the beach, Bulabog is a great place to stay and I definitely recommend it over staying near White Beach as you can actually get a peacefull nights sleep here! White beach is only 5-10 minutes walk away.

All the staff are great, and always happy to help.

This place is like a home away from home, I would definitely recommend a stay at Reef Retreat

Wanted to learn to kite and found this piece of heaven. Few rooms, clean, well appointed with staff going the extra mile to ensure your stay. Despite no breakfast you can find many places just down the road (500m)

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the sea directly...we worth it
