“Tried to charge us someone else's drinks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Th hotel was decent, clean, convenient, right next to the beach. We were a little tentative as we got down from the airport transfer and were brought through what looked a bit dodgy. The hotel immediately put us at ease. Service at the restaurant can be a bit slow but the staff were friendly. The fruit juices were to die for! The pool is a tat too small but not a bit issue as the beach is right next to the hotel. There were too many touts trying to push hats, sunglasses though. After a week of very pleasant stay, the hotel tried to charge us for drinks someone else took. They need a better way of accepting charges to the room!

If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay where you can relax and have a good night sleep, Microtel is the perfect place. it is a child friendly place for your kids because there is a play area and the pool is not that deep. However, if you are a teenager looking for fun and excitement, find another place because Microtel is far from station 2 where all the good things happen. None the less, the hotel offers a FREE SHUTTLE from the hotel going to station 2/ D mall. The sand in front of the hotel is not as good as the sand in station 1. i'm still giving the hotel a rating of very good for these following reasons: 1. the free water and free coffee 2. free shuttle 3. spacious room 4. warm accommodation.
one thing bothered me, i arranged an airport transfer with the hotel which i paid. i asked the front desk if the transfer is a van, she said yes. however, when we reached caticlan, transfering to kalibo, IT WAS NOT A VAN. Dante, the hotel assistant, assisted us to a bus with other people. that's why my family paid for a transfer for us to be alone expecting its a van but it was NOT.

I had booked this hotel online through agoda. I stayed here with my friend for 3 nights and was not really happy with it.
The room is just OK and they dont even have a flat TV. There is no wifi in the room, its only available in the lobby.

They dont server buffet breakfast. They have some set options available every day which is not good if you are a Hindu and cannot eat non-veg every day for religious reasons. Their everyday breakfast is just cereals with little fresh fruits and juice. Its not fresh juice just some powered drink and we are in the Philippines. The scrambled egg is very costly for 60 Peso each and they dont even accept credit cards at the restaurant. Considering that Boracay is an International destination credit cards should be accepted.

The hotel staff is very nice and friendly though. That's the only good thing about the hotel.

It was nice a great overnight experience here. Their employees are to hospitable and accommodating. All of your request can be granted as long as you advice them ahead of time. Free welcome drinks upon arrival and refreshing towels to freshen up instantly.

Even though they are far away from shopping areas, the offer free shuttle to D'mall with time schedules. form 8am until 12mn.

We did online booking on this hotel and we asked to cancel it because of bad weather but the staff on the phone told me that if I will cancel it I still have to pay for the price 100% of it. So the best choice is to offset the date 2 days (since we are delayed 2 days in our arrival in Boracay). They agree to offset but the lady said there is no more available room for us but when I checked online there is still available only more expensive than our booked room. I call the hotel again if its possible to get this room and she said yes but I should have to pay 50% higher on my original bookings. Just upset that the staff have no options to say when your in need of help about my booking. She let me do the searching on the internet without telling me that there are still available room.

Congratulation for making my holiday unforgettable , I really got a good experience , All staffs were very welcoming and kind , Even the Hotel is located a little bit far from Dmall, the free shuttle bus really made a big difference . congratulation also for those staffs working at restaurant , Even the food was nice , I did not have to wait for so long time for having it . The only point I would like to suggest for improvement is that the front beach area should be cleaned at least one time per day to make more nicer , there was a lot of wood and dead plant from the sea and some plastic bottles on the beach , I've seen others staffs from different Hotels doing that and I did not notice in Microtel . Another point is that the wi fi is free only at lobby area and not inside the room, for me it does not make any sense , or it's free or not , it doesn't matter the place .
The quality of breakfast was good, .Having buffet would make a great difference !

As one of our friends have recommended this hotel, we've decided to stay here during break in April. Hotel looks old. Room was okay, basic and addresses basic necessities. No drinking water, but it's fine as you get free coffee and water at the lobby. Room which is for 2 can actually accommodate more. There's wifi but very slow and sometimes not even working. Better in the lobby.
One good thing is it's beachfront...private for the hotel and the nearby ones. This is far from the busy area of the island. Nice and quiet. You get swarmed though by people offering their services for beach activities like boat rides, kayak, etc. The hotel can offer the same service but at higher price. The pool is shallow and didn't actually looked inviting (looked bit dirty even very early morning when no one yet is using). May be good for kids as it's shallow.
Food is by a separate concessionaire. There's not much options. Quality and taste is average, acceptable like in fastfood restaurants. Got used to big breakfasts in other hotels, so this time, we were bit disappointed. Staff were very nice and accommodating though. But sometimes irritating as they tend to chat too much and even ask personal stuff. Sometimes you just want to eat quietly but they tend to chatter.
In general, it was okay...child and family friendly hotel, quite affordable.

Room Tip: beach view, higher floor
