“Value for money but wish they have better beds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

I took my boyfriend there for his 1st trip to the Philippines and we had a great time. The resort was conveniently located in Station 1, just a few steps away from Willy's rock so we get to avoid the madness in Station 2. The resort is fairly small but with friendly and accommodating staff from the bartender to the frontdesk, to the guards. Food was so-so. We tried their breakfast buffet the first day but wasnt really impressed with it. The shakes and drinks were moderately priced and so was the food. The room we were at was spacious enough but the beds were too hard on our backs. The bathroom was clean but the fixtures needs to be replaced (read, old) It was supposedly a queen bed it looks more like double bed to me. All in all, the staff and the location makes up for the less than stellar facilities.

Sur is a great best resort for station 1. The location is excellent being only halfway up station 1 so you can easily walk down to station 2 for restaurants and bars, it's only about a 15 minute walk. Being in station 1 it tends to be quieter (the prices of the resorts tend to get cheaper as you move from station 1 down to 2 then to 3 but this is variable).

The room itself was simple and well appointed, not too many amenities as others have pointed out but you're not paying for those either. The room has all the basic, decent sized bed, refrigerator, ac, walk in shower (thought the water was very hot it wasn't consistent, the pressure was good but the temp went from hot to cold and back). They have a small bar and 6 or 8 cabana's as well as maybe 16-20 beach chairs out front. The serving staff was excellent as well as the rest of the staff at Sur. We used their tour coordinator for an island hopping trip and he was very reasonably priced and had his own boat. We had a good time and would recommend him.

Make sure you make transportation arrangements to the hotel prior to arrival, we used southwest and and the hotel arranges the pickup from pier to hotel and back and will ensure you make the bus back to Kailbo for the flight out.

What makes Sur special (especially for the price) is the location and the customer service which is excellent. There are other more expensive properties close by but you don't need to spend the extra peso's.

Room Tip: Book well ahead if you're coming in January, the good rooms tend to go fast, I would also recomm...

We have stayed here twice now and always had an Excellent Stay. It is in a quite location, yet easy walking distance to the nightlife. They have beautiful cabanas facing the beach where you can relax and watch the sunset.
We had Breakfast delivered to our room each morning, the staff was polite and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable, an excellent value for the money.
The Beach is just a few steps away and is absolutely beautiful.

Excellent location at S1, clean & comfortable room, very friendly staff, reasonable price, good breakfast, lunch, dinner & beverage all at very reasonable price. The minor defect maybe the hotel transfer service. Definitely will choose Sur again if back to Boracay!

Room Tip: No elevator, if do not want to walk up stairs, may choose GF room. Building A B more close to beach.

The title of my review says it all.. Sur Beach Resort got excellent service - from booking, checking in, checking out and whatever request you have, they'll provide it to you in the best of their abilities.

One request that I made to them is with regard to the window curtains. I am used to sleeping in a very dark room and will have difficulty doing so if the room is bright. Unlike other hotels where they have double curtains, one white and the other of darker color, they only have white/off-white one, and when you turn off the lights in your room at night, or when you try to take a nap during the day or just wanted to wake up a bit late in the morning, it's difficult to sleep if you're like me who's used to sleeping in a dark room. I ask them if they have a darker colored curtains to replace the one currently in my room; however, they said that they don't have any available. After explaining my situation, they said they'll try to look for a solution (they're willing to turn off the lights on the corridor at night in front of my room to solve this problem). After a few minutes, they come knocking at my room with extra curtains to hang on my windows thereby doubling the curtain. Talk about customer service!!! Though their solution did not totally solve my problem, I appreciate the extra effort they put in in trying to satisfy their customers. Special thanks to Desiree, Edison and Ranny for always making sure we are comfortable.

Room Tip: Try to request for a room that is not on the first floor as it becomes a bit noisy when new guests a...

Went here last week with my wife and her friends. The staff is really friendly and willing to please. However, the amenities aren't really great.

First off, my wife and I arranged for transfers from the Caticlan airport About P800 both ways I think. So thanks to Southwest tours, they made it real easy to get from the airport to the pier, to the actual hotel. It was pretty convenient considering that we didn't know where it was in the first place.

The amenities aren't luxurious, no doubt. But it serves its purpose. There are cabanas on the property and some nice sunbathing chairs. There's also a dining area so it's cool if you don't feel like walking to the station 2 area for food.

The room itself is adequate. There's a TV, a pretty small bed for two, and a bathroom. Plus some water on the fridge. So it's just adequate... However I thought the room's sheets were a bit dirty, so if you're particular with that sort of thing, then they could improve on that.

The location is pretty OK. I mean it's a beachfront property on station 1 which is very good. BUT I think it's a long way to the party area, maybe about 15 minutes to walk. It might not seem too far. But if the sun is scorching, and you're walking on sand, it can seem a lot longer.

But if you're looking for a more quiet area, where few vendors and people go. If that's what you want then I think this is a good spot.

But the service here is really good. the staff hangs out at the beach area so they're readily available if you want a nice fresh mango shake. Or they were really very helpful to us regarding transfers and scheduling so I'm very happy about that.

Overall, it's a good hotel, but I wish they'd improve on their facilities. Better sheets, better room interiors would go a long way.
