“excellent place to stay....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2009

Just got back from a vacation in Boracay and we are all praises for our accommodation in Asya Boracay. Everything was commendable. The staff was very courteous and attentive right from day 1 til the last day. Upon arrival, a clean van picked us up from the airport to bring us to the port. The speedboat ride to the hotel was great and we didn't have to wait for other customers, a bonus point for Asya, unlike other big hotels which has a lot of customers thus you have to wait for everyone to be complete.

Once we reached the hotel, cold towels were offered to us to freshen up as well as cold drinks. Right there and then we knew it was the start of an awesome vacation. After the drinks, we asked to be brought to our room and boy were we glad that it was ready even at 8am!! We thought we had to wait til 2pm for the check in time but didn't...it was a pleasant surprise indeed! Talking of the rooms, ours was big and very modern. The design was such that the needs of the guests were well thought of. Towels were aplenty. The bathroom was very clean and spacious too.The kids were so excited at this time already and even more when they saw that the pool was just a few steps from our room. We usually had the pool to ourselves which is another bonus. Asya is like your little oasis when you want to be away from the maddening crowd. We're glad we made the right choice. We will definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to have a real good time in Boracay!!

privately secluded, but very near the heart of the action...Asya is but a 2 minute walk from the beach -- an oasis of tranquility and spa like surroundings envelopes you upon your return from the ocean.....

service is simply great, never overbearing and intrusive -- the private cove and of course the speedboat are definitely two thumbs up!

Have just spent 10 days on Boracay. What a fantastic island, the beach there is superb with the most crystal clear water I have ever seen. Beach is great for kids as there is no surf. We could not decide on where to stay before going after reading so many reviews on TA so we decided to book 3 nights at Asya then wing it once we got there. Asya is between boat station 2 and 3 down a little street and takes you about 1 minute to walk to white beach. The staff at Asya were very friendly and made sure we were very well looked after. It is I think the norm on Boracay that the staff at every resort are friendly and look after you, but we found the staff at Asya to be very genuine and not being nice just because it was their job,. The resort has a really peaceful setting, is not noisy at all and the pool is just fantastic for kids as it is not very deep, our kids preferred to swim in this pool rather than the ocean. The rooms are very big, in fact they are bigger than most of the rooms we looked at, at Fridays, Two Seasons and Discovery Shores to name a few. The only negative thing I could say about Asya is that the beds are rather hard and the air conditioning quite noisy so if you were thinking of staying I would suggest ear plugs. This resort is not as flash as some of the other well known resorts but bear in mind it is half the price and you get the same if not better service here. We left Asya after 3 nights and stayed at Ambassador in Paradise a new resort only opened in Dec 2008. We had a magnificient room right on the beach, I would say a 50metre walk to the water if that our room had a king size bed and 2 king singles for the kids. a seperate room with a desk and a robe for clothes which was very handy. The bathroom consisted of a huge self standing spa bath and great shower with 2 basins and a TV, fantastic.. Beach views all round. service here was also good food was great, pool not so good especially for kids. This place even though magnificent room didn't have the feel of Asya and so we went back to Asya for our last 2 nights so that we would leave on a really positive note.

I chose Asya Resort as it looked like it was in a quiet location but not too far from all the action - and I was right. The resort is a two minute stroll along a lane between Boat Station 2 & 3. The lane has the main police station on it and the tourist office at the end and a few other resorts along the road so it always felt perfectly safe even after dark.

The whole experience from booking to getting there was made so easy. I sent an e-mail to the booking office and they gave me special rates for a 3 night stay and I went along to their office in Makati to pay in cash a couple of weeks before we travelled. On arrival at the tiny Caticlan airport we were besieged by porters offering to help us with our luggage - but as the small planes which ply the Manila-Caticaln route only allow you to take 10Kg we didn't really need any assistance.

A man from Asya was waiting outside the airport with a board with our names on and we were whisked into an air conditioned mini bus for the short ride to where our private speedboat was waiting. The speedboat ride was very quick and very pleasant and we were at Asya's private cove within 10 minutes where another car was waiting to take us to the resort. A 10 minute ride along the back roads of Boracay and we were there, to be met with cold towels and a cold drink.

We had booked a villa suite which was on the first floor and was lovely - a large room with a huge bed, a table and chairs, a sofa, two lots of double doors on to a very spacious balcony overlooking the courtyard garden, a very nice contemporary bathroom (huge shower, no bath) and a kitchen with a microwave, kettle, fridge with free drinks - beer, ice tea, coke etc. The room was spacious, modern and very clean - the only negative thing I can say about the room was it was a little dark during the day - but we were rarely in it during the day so it didn't really matter anyway and it was fine at night with the lamps lit - very cosy and welcoming. Rather strangely the kitchen has plenty of cupboards but no plates or cutlery - take a corkscrew or buy screw top wine if you plan to sit on the lovely balcony and have a glass or two, like we did!

The staff were all lovely - always had a welcome smile, happy to get anything you needed. We had a free meal in the hotel restaurant included in our package which was very good - soup, salad, main course, dessert and a glass of Sangria and the pizza at the restaurant was also very good. We wished we had eaten there again on our last night rather than at Zhu at the Boracay Regency which was very poor.

The pool at the hotel was lovely - very shallow at one end, deep enough to swim at the other end. Most of the time we had it entirely to ourselves - it felt like our own private garden. The hotel has its own private cove which we saw on arrival and departure but we didn't bother going there during our stay but it looked very nice as we briefly passed through, with a snack bar, white sand, clear green water, kayaks etc. From the hotel it is about a 10 minute walk to D'Mall where there are lots of restaurants, shops but there are also plenty of places nearby - in the evening all the restaurants replace their sunbeds with tables and chairs, great for watching the sunset - we headed to Secxs just around the corner from the hotel where they did 2 for 1 cocktails at bargain prices and watched the dramatic sunsets each evening - perfect.

Boracay itself is gorgeous - each evening we took a long walk along the beach all the way down to the far end where Fridays & Discovery Shores are. I would say that end of the beach is nicer - but to be fair there isn't really any part of the beach which isn't beautiful and we were perfectly happy with the location of Asya.

To summarise, the hotel is beatifully designed, very clean and modern, well appointed, comfortable rooms, contemporary bathrooms, professional, helpful and friendly staff and is a little Oasis within the general hustle and bustle of Boracay. It's not cheap but we felt it was good value for money and would recommend it without hesitation. The only thing it lacks is its own private area on White beach - so if you want to spend time at the beach you either have to go to the Cove (via their free shuttle) or lie on the sand on White beach rather than on a lounger. This wasn't a problem for us as the pool more than made up for it but may be factor in other people's choices.

Would also recommend the Nemo glass bottom boat tour and Lemon Cafe for lunch or dinner - their lemon tart is sublime and the Caesar Salad was delicious.

What more can you ask for? You're picked up by an airconditioned van at the airport and taken to a speedboat (5 mins to the island!). Another airconditioned car ride and you're at the resort. So much less time than previous trips to Boracay with other hotels. When you arrive, you're greeted with a cold drink and towel. The rooms are exceptionally large and equipped with hot pot for tea/coffee and microwave. The hotel is quite private - not seen by the hussle and bussle outside - but close enough to the beach (2 min walk). I didn't have any problem with my toddler going out to the beach every morning with his nanny since it was so close. He loved the pool! He doesn't know how to swim but that wasn't a problem since the pool was only 2 feet deep in one side.
I also can't say enough about the staff. You call and they are there in a giffy. No waiting time at all. In fact, we found they were waiting for us most of the time to offer room cleaning, towels etc.

Just got back from our trip to boracay, we stayed at this place called Asya. Its actually not a big resort but has lots of open areas for you to soak in the vacation atmosphere. The rooms are simply unbelievable, there big and very very clean, which was an added plus since i brought my 2 year old son whose very much into touching everything and walking around barefeet, so no problems there with cleanliness! My son had a blast too at the pool even though he doesnt know how to swim, very kid friendly, its like 2 feet on 1 end and 3 or 4 feet on the other end. if you prefer to see alot of people then the main beach is the place for you, its about a 5 minute walk from the resort, however if you wanna get away from crowds like i do, asya has their own private cove where you basically have the whole place to yourself(unless offcourse there are other guests) which was perfect, no crowds to worry about, we were able to let our son do his thing and not worry too much since they had a lifeguard as well.
Food at the hotel offered a variety from filipino, italian to continental. what we enjoyed most was their pizzas, priced reasonably and very good. one thing good as well was that the rooms had a microwave and fridge which help alot since we had a kid with us. we were able to bring home leftovers and eat them the next day.
Definetly be back next year, although question would be where do i stay Asya 1 or 2(under construction but looks very very nice in the pictures) cant wait!

  • Liked — they took care of all the transfers
  • Disliked — the room keys were quite hard to use

Asya Boracay is one of THE best beach hotels you can ever find yourself residing in when you arrive in Boracay and I'll tell you why.

LOCATION
We (my family and my boyfriend and I) originally booked a stay at a different hotel located in front of the beach. However, because the hotel was taking too long to confirm our stay, we decided to stay at Asya which wasn't right in front of the beach. (DO NOT fret, not being 'in front of the beach' isn't the same as being FAR away from the beach.

Where Asya is located, it will take you exactly 2 minutes before you hit the front of the beach and I am not exaggerating. We found that Asya has surprisingly situated itself in a very lovely area, away from the loud cries of drunk tourists, locals prodding you to go on "jet skies and banana boating" and of course, everything else considered as 'noise' once the sun goes down.

Asya gives you the power to still be in the hub of all things entertainment, but you also get the silence when you want to sit by the pool and wind down.

SAFETY
The place was absolutely safe and the people were friendly and seemed trustworthy. We still suggest for you to use the safe in the room to keep important valuables like passport, laptops, money, etc.

There's always a guard in the front gate and the fact that it's not right by the beach, DOES make it a lot safer. The other hotel room that was taking a long time confirming our booking, we visited, and found them to be right at the boardwalk where hundreds of people are constantly walking by. The fact that you can just walk in up the stairs and into an unlocked bedroom, despite how nice the facilities are won't make me sleep better at night.

SERVICE
The service is fantastic! When you go there, ask for Gerrard. He KNOWS and does his job well. He stands out from just your regular attendant as he anticipates what the customers need before you even ask for it.

ROOM
When you're there, request to get the rooms overlooking the pool (the ones in the photo); that's where we stayed. It was super convenient to just go straight out the door and jump into the pool. And hello, who wants to lunge all that luggage, your kids, up and down the stairs? If you're worried about it being noisy because it's on the ground floor, don't be. Asya has a reputation for it being quiet at night but not boring where you feel like no one is staying there. Also, it's the best location to receiving Wi-Fi connection. :)

FOOD
We had a complimentary breakfast every morning which started at 7 and ended at 10. They would serve scrambled eggs, pancakes, toast, buns, assortment of fruits (which, were OK, probably weren't in season because we went there in the winter time), juices, and main course meals that's alternated everyday.

Breakfast was what I looked forwarded to every morning. Just sitting there in your swim suit, eating a hearty meal, there's not other way to start the morning.

The food on their menu is quite fantastic as well and comes at a good price. A lot cheaper than most of the other hotels in Boracay.

ACTIVITIES
A lot of the activities by Asya are free and included when you book your stay. They have an assortment to choose from, between snorkeling, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, etc. They also have a private cove where you can choose to go and spend the day at. They have a view deck overlooking the beach up a top a flight of stairs. The van that takes you there picks you up from the hotel at 11 am and brings you back from the cove at 3 pm, everyday. You have to reserve at the front desk or with Gerrard if you decide to go to the cove. We went there twice to go kayaking and snorkeling --- (I suggest you bring your own mouthpiece at least if you decide to go snorkeling; we did. But the life jackets and goggles are readily available there.

The hotel has a swimming pool that's very ideal for little kids. It has a shallow area that reaches mid-calves for an average adult. The only down side was that the water was a little chilly on the uptake but gets warmer once you're actually in there. But we did go during the winter season so I'm sure it'll be a different story come summer time.

In the main lobby, up the stairs, they have a computer room with internet and a TV. We didn't use that area once because we had the TVs in the bedroom and we had our laptops.

Overall, I would go to Asya again when I visit Boracay. The atmosphere is perfect for kids and adults or newlyweds. It's affordable, the food is great, the service is commendable, and it's utterly relaxing.

  • Liked — The service and location.
  • Disliked — The fruits, they weren't that sweet. The swimming pool was too cold.
