the hotel mostly focused on the privacy and its rooms. also the service is great! the staff are friendly, the hotel is excellent and the garden is beautiful! this hotel would be preferable for the people who would really want to relax. the beach side hotels have their advantages but with the beach being busy also at night, how could you even have some time to take some rest? with bars and clubs, pounding their music to the max, for sure you won't have any energy for the next day with so much activities you could do.

sure, the hotel maybe a bit far from the beach. but just consider it as a good exercise. besides, there are also some other means of transportation that could take you straight to the hotel. a few pesos won't hurt you if you're really tired to walk back to the hotel. and if you have some good company with you, you won't even realize that you're back at the beach or when going back to the hotel. maybe to the people who are too lazy to walk would probably not recommend this hotel but for the best experience you could get from a triple A hotel, especially on a beach, this would be the best place.

This is not a bad hotel but if you sacrifice location in Boracay (and location means on the beach which is why Boracay exists after all) you are looking at something special or cheap - the Tropics is neither.
Negatives (apart fom the horrible 300 metre walk to the beach), poor quality of bedding ,no bath and noisy air-conditioner.
Positives - clean, friendly service and a helpful pickup from airport service included in our package.
Neutral - breakfast, ambience.
If you want a three star experience (we were looking for four) and do not mind a depressing walk to the beach then stay here otherwise pay a bit more and look for something on the beach.

I went with my fiance last May 2008. We've searched for a nice place and we found this hotel, very nice in pictures. When we got there, we didnt realize that its just so far from the beach, we always have to walk a long way and back again..after we get tired and considered to stay in the room instead and sleep...a bad thing..huhh..
The receptionist, she's so odd..i dont know whats wrong with us or just too suspicious to couples staying in their hotel with different family names?....
Lastly, before our last day, we wanted to go for a kayaking..they have this list for the service, we thought they had this connecting place for the activity. We booked for it early as what the rules says, next day the driver brought as to this place that he himself dont know if it was the right place. In the end, we walked back to the beach because the hotel driver left us already. We just considered to find someplace and end up to the rental service place where we're supposed to be....what happened? both parties had a fight with responsibilities and we just kept quiet. Its just not nice for visitors.....dont want to come back again!

My husband and I, as well as our 2-year-old baby boy stayed at this resort from March 14-16, 2008. From the airport, we were brought by their own private van directly to their own private docking area. We were impressed by the quality of service. Their drivers and boat-
handlers were very friendly despite the summer heat. Upon arrival at the resort, we were greeted warmly by the receptionists and were just given a form to sign and then swiftly shown to our room. We were pleasantly surprised that the room we were given was overlooking the pool and had 2 queen sized beds! We had no complaints, except maybe in the future they can provide disposable slippers.

Food was excellent and service was fast. When we arrived at the resort, it was already around 2pm and we haven't had lunch. We decided to eat at the resort restaurant and we noticed that they didn't serve arroz caldo past a certain time period (they only serve it for breakfast). Our 2-year-old boy has a thing for arroz caldo, and fortunately we were able to persuade the staff to serve it especially for him. So, thank you so much to those people for complying with our request. We also really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the fruits were fresh and juicy. We would especially like to commend the chef who was cooking the egg omelet-- it was delicious! It was cooked just right and the cheese inside was melted perfectly!

The location of the resort is less than ideal. I personally found it quite far from the beach and scary to walk through after sundown. We didn't encounter any accidents though.

The boracay beach in general was a disappointment because the whole time we were there, the water was full of slimy green seaweed. We combed the whole beachfront from station 3 to station 1 and it was in the same condition all throughout. So it was a really good thing that the resort we stayed in has an amazing pool-- we swear, it seems to be a heated pool because even after 8pm, the water is still deliciously warm and very clean.

Overall, a very good resort and we would definitely stay in this resort again in the future.
