“Quiet and relaxing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

One Crescent Place is a hotel situated a short walk down an alley off the Station 1 main road. If you are looking for a place that is away from the hustle and bustle of the main road, yet close to the restaurants and beach, One Crescent is the place for you.

Stayed in the Premier high-floor for 4 nights. The room was very clean and equipped with basic amenities. The day bed was a nice touch and provided additional space to put your luggage should you not use it. Hotel staff were very friendly and always greeted us when we stepped in/out of the hotel. Wifi was decent but then again who needs wifi when the beach is just a three minute walk away?

A very nice stay on the whole!

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter but be prepared to climb the stairs, rooms on the second floor should be j...

Very nice and super clean hotel. Very good money/value ratio. Located in a quiet area and still 1 minute walk from the beach. Staff extremly helpful, doing their best to make guests happy. I stayed in hundreds of hotels across the world (from Ritz-Carlton to backpacker dorms) but this place is really worth remembering. Definitely will stay here next time.

We have no qualms about recommending this to anyone who's looking for clean and comfortable accommodations at a reasonable price. It's less than 5 minutes walk from the best Beach area in Boracay. Those after budget meals are in for a treat as there are many inexpensive eats on the main road on the way to the beach. The rooms are reasonably sized for the price (about $90) with ample breakfast included and free wifi although the signal was not consistent. Service was good over all.

If you don't mind not being in a beach front hotel or resort, and don't want to pay to much for a room with all the usual amenities, you should definitely consider staying here.

We recently visited Boracay for my daughters birthday. It's the first time for all of us and I just searched TripAdvisor to sew which hotel to go to in Station 1 and was I lucky at first try! The accommodation and service are very good. The staffs are very polite, accomodating and attentive. They have provided what we need without even asking them. Their response is always quick and hassle free. From the transportation arrangements and our untimely requests, we cannot ask for anything more. After our stay, I received email from them with a postcard with our pictures thanking us for our stay. What a wonderful show of appreciation. We are truly coming back here soon!

I stayed in a deluxe room on the third floor. It'll be a comfortable stay if you don't expect anything luxury beyond the basic needs. Room is clean and cosy with comfortable bed, multi channel TV and perfectly working air-conditioner. The bathroom is clean with shampoo, soap and conditioner. The hotel is attentive enough to provide Safeguard brand soap (for bacteria protection).

Staffs are extremely helpful and polite. They'll try their very best to entertain your requests. So don't hesitate to talk to them when you have any difficulty.

I was unhappy with the limited Wifi connection. I'd already informed the staff and they tried but failed to fix it. Based on my understanding, it was due to the infrastructure damaged by the typhoon. So don't expect Wifi here until the infra is restored. Even the 3G/4G signal at this area is very weak. You can still enjoy 4G speed at the station 1 & 2 but sometimes the connection will go off without you noticing.

Breakfast is nice and decent compared to Filipino daily breakfast or a midrange food stall in the island. I'd say I enjoyed the breakfast but you shouldn't expect the quality of a high end restaurant. Staffs, however, are very helpful and polite. They'll even put some cover near your seats so that you can avoid the early morning sunshine.

I seldom heard the roosters which was a disappointment to me but maybe is good news for those who find it difficult to sleep. I was sleeping well thanks to the working air-conditioner (I hate rooms with not so cool air-conditioner).
Location is near to the beach. It's just 3 minute walk and you'll be at the Willy's Rock. It's near local restaurants and the Boracay Beach Club where you can register your trip to Ariel's point.

So if you are not dreaming about a 4* beach resort and just need a clean, comfortable room to relax, you can choose this hotel. By the way, the hotel will provide you with beach towels and send you some postcard after you are back from your holiday

Dear Huubang,

Thanks for staying with us, in our Deluxe room. We pride to have simple and minimalist in our design approach to maintain elegance, without the clutter. We do have high quality beds and appointments. We always maintain the hotel clean. Good that you liked the air conditioner in your room, as we use quality brand top of the line split-type, inverter air conditioners in all rooms. It has precise settings for temperature, without the fluctuating temperatures from the regular air conditioners, and with a few other modes to make the air in the room fresher (yes it can make this through ionization and filtering) and more comfortable for you. Beyond the shampoo, hair conditioner and the use of Safeguard brand soap, we do use a special detergents to ensure proper cleaning for all the linens and towels every time. We try to provide you with the best to deliver our service to you.

Our staff are always attentive to your needs, and are there to take care of you. Just talk to them where you find them, dial "0" if you are in your room.

For WiFi, it is working fine now, since about late December. The infrastructure connections had been restored. We had been in constant contact with our telecommunication providers after the major typhoon, working lines were overloaded until the broken lines were restored. We had to use alternate methods to augment the connectivity. Now, everything is fixed, also, we have improved our internal network to ensure that guest gets a fast and reliable internet experience. We understand very well that we live now in a world of gadgets, we have a project this quarter to make our overall network and WiFi experience even better, actually we want it to be awesome. We will work towards this.

For breakfast, we have it freshly prepared every time just right before serving them to you, and we do not add "inedible" decorations in your plate. We normally use ingredients available in the local markets, however, we do go to the extent of obtaining ingredients from imported sources, if we cannot find the right quality locally. We do ensure that we use brands and sources of top quality. We deliver breakfast that is fresh and complete, with fruit, with juice, with coffee or tea. You will have enough to have a good start your day!

Oh, on roosters -- while we do have guests who do "complain" if there are roosters crowing in the morning, we have had very few guests who would not have minded it, just like you. They want to hear the sound of nature. It's also a matter of getting used to it, but we do have an ordinance that prohibits roosters to be adjacent to a hotel. It's actually a noise nuisance if it is actually so close, as crows can be piercing loud. We have a number of rooms, which has special double doors at the balcony, special as they were custom built with attenuation materials inside it, that can muffle noise. But, in case, you want to see roosters, that can be arranged. Please just ask the staff on where you can find them.

We would like to think that our location is ideal, as it is in Station 1, where the best part of White Beach is, only less than three minutes' walk to the beach, with quiet surroundings, and one would also see the local community, as we are just a minute's walk behind the church. There is also a safety factor being inland, as you are not directly subjected to the elements of nature. Guests can enjoy the beach as if you were booked in a beach front hotel, as there are great restaurants and outfits on the beachfront, which has lounge chairs that you can use. Just buy some food or drink from them. Getting some snacks and drinks while watching the sunset is a great way to end the day. Then, you just walk back to the peaceful surroundings of One Crescent Place, freshen up, then go dine out, and come back again for a restful sleep.

We thank you again for staying with us, and for your honest review. We would love to have you back, and you can try our new high floor rooms, the Premier Hi-Floor, and the Grand Premier. Taking good care of guests and continuous improvement is our policy and way of life at One Crescent Place Hotel.

First of all, my partner and I have stayed in everything from luxury beach front resorts and small, cheap backpacker rooms, and almost always been more than happy with our accommodations around Southeast Asia - if the price equals the quality and service.

THIS hotel is so extremely overpriced for what you get. Let me explain:

We paid 140 USD per night! Yes it was peak season, we know - BUT when you pay this much you expect alot and when everything is so badly managed, a bad review is the only solution.
This was the most we've ever paid for a hotel - even for beach front luxury in Thailand and Vietnam. And what do you get for all this money?

- A small, small room with a nice balcony - but no furniture, so pretty much useless.

- A leaking toilet drain, that overswam our bathroom everyday - and did not get fixed even though we asked for it.

- A mediocre at best breakfast

- When booking the office in Manila tried to rob us of 75 USD because of an exchange rate they couldn't really explain.

- We had the newly renovated top-floor rooms and apparently even the slightest noise from the staircase will enter your room and wake you up and trust me with the many all night-party-people coming home in the wee hours, they will make a lot of noise. We had a couple of sleepless nights.

- We knew the hotel was not beach front which is fine, it's a short walk, but again the PRICE, does not apply to a hotel 3 blocks from the beach.

- The staff is friendly in a "we have been trained to smile"-kinda way. But the service was so lacking. We asked for someone to pick us up and take us to the ferry. That was not arranged and the girl working in the morning had no idea. And did not take any actions to try and help.

- The same girl we kindly asked to see if she could arrange a trip to Carabao Island to get away from terribly crowed Boracay. After an hour she came back with an offer of 6000 pesos (140 USD) for a 5 hours trip including lunch. I told her that this was way too much and what the price would be without lunch. We waited another hour before she returned saying she had a different offer now at 7000 pesos!!! What? Wait: I already told you 6000 was over our budget - and you come back with a higher price. Such a waste of our time. 2 hours we waited in our room for nothing.

Well we sound like really angry, bitter people. But we're not, we enjoyed the Philippines so much, mostly our time in Bantayan Island, staying in a simple but truly personal and private spot. Devestated by the typhoon but still so worth visiting. Save your tourist money for different places around the Philippines that really need it and will be appreciate it.
Boracay has been destroyed not by the typhoon but by overdevelopment and is a terrible place if you want peace and authentic adventures.
We will never return to that island and definitely not to One Crescent Place.

Dear JoSoJu,

First, we are sorry you did not have a good time at all in Boracay and in the hotel.

There were lots of people who though had a great time in Boracay, where the beach is one of the finest in the world, bar none. In fact, people keep on coming back year after year. It has its allure. You came in at the peak season time, so it is a bit crowded, but people still enjoyed it.

Regarding the price--pricing is a bit more complicated as it has not only to balance between demand and supply but also on sustainability. In fact, we are fully booked. And people are not probably aware on how much premium is paid on properties such as in Boracay, even inland, and how we built the hotel to provide safety to guests. There are many things that you don't see that we spent on for your safety and convenience, such as very strong building foundation, the redundant water system, fire safety systems, power generation system, proper staffing, government taxes and more. We are fully booked during the peak season for a reason. We use top of the line appliances, amenities and fixtures and we take care of guests. (If prices are cheap in other places, one would wonder, why?)

It's unfortunate that these things as you say should happen to you. But nevertheless, rest assured we have deliberated each point you have raised. For those we have control of, such as no furniture in Balcony, we have furniture you can put upon request. On toilet leak, it is fresh water intermittent leak, but reportedly not much. We use only fresh clean water for everything. Housekeeping has wiped it off during housekeeping, but we have our contractor fix it now after he came back from the New Year break. It's a more involved fix. For breakfast, we use only fresh ingredients, freshly prepared. We don't know how to do it any other way. There's ~ PHP 3 per USD difference in the exchange rate when you booked at the Manila office. We have corrected this as we were operating on a pegged rate of PHP 40 per USD. We now our rates dynamically float, but with a short deadline. Thank you for pointing this out. But, the bottom line is that you did not lose this USD 75. In case, we would have corrected it. Regarding noise of guests coming back from the stair case--while we are still putting more noise attenuation materials, and while we cannot put carpeted floors, it just so happened you were on over the New Year. People have merriment have a good time, and then come back a bit loud. But we will will control it.

It had been a busy season, so the night shift might have not properly relayed your arrangement request for a tricycle in the morning. It would have been an easy fix, if you let the front desk help you, would not take five minutes. Our staff is also human, not perfect, but are there to assist you.

For the Carabao Island trip, it's a private boat from two different contractors, pricing of which was relayed to you. We don't have control of the pricing. Again it was a busy time.

It's sad you had a terrible time during your stay. Again, many other guests had a grand time in Boracay at least. It had been a bit busy, but still they had a grand time.

People go back to Boracay to unwind, have a grand time. We strive to make it happen all the time. Boracay is a bit quieter during June to November, but has become a year round destination.

Best regards,

OCP Management Team
