“A 5* disguised as a 3*”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2011

Just came back from a weekend with my friends at Boracay Hills Hotel. The hotel is excellent value for money and is located in the hills of Boracay Island and about a few minutes van ride to the beach. This hotel is good in a lot of ways, clean rooms, good value for money, safe and very quiet location. If you're wanting to spend your holidays in relative peace and quiet away from the maddening crowd at the beach, this is definitely the place to stay.

The rooms are large and very clean, each with a terrace or balcony overlooking a beautiful garden and a well maintained pool. I noticed the service from all staff is above & beyond what they need to do. Housekeeping noticed on the first night that I had rolled a blanket under my pillow to make it higher, the next time i went back from the beach the following evening, she brought me an extra pillow without having to be asked.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were treated as family. There was nothing that they would not do for us. The people who run the hotel treat you like guests in their home and their main concern is that you are happy at the hotel. The adorable staff and the easygoing and helpful manager will do everything they can to make your stay special.

This hotel may be a 3 plus star on the travel books, But for the service and attention they provide, this is definitely 5 star hotel in my book. This is a great hotel worth a higher star rating.

Looking like a private luxury mansion this hotel is one of the best I stayed in lately. The room was clean and well furnished even though not very spacious. Well kept lawns, pool, sun beds in a secluded area but still just a few minutes away with the Hotel Van to the beach and restaurants. (Dinner is also served at the hotel and they offer a good selection of wines.) The service is impeccable and the personal do their utmost to meet your demands. I will definitely come back!

We were full of high expectations after reading all the great comments here, but were quite disappointed - instead of a extraordinarily great hotel we found a very very average, low key small hotel.
Bed linen and sheets were dirty and obviously not changed from the last guests - so when we asked for it to be replaced, after 20mins of waiting what we found was THE SAME sheets - just put on the bed in a different way. So after another time of asking we finally got some clean sheets.

PLUS points:
+ small hotel, so not too many people around, which is nice
+ a small pool
+ transport services from hotel to the beaches (which is, however, necessary, as you are quite far away from everything)

MINUS points:
- dirty bed sheets/linen
- very often there is nobody at the reception (when we wanted to have our bed sheets replaced we had to wait for almost a full hour untill we could find a staff member)
- location (very far away from everything)

Great hotel away from the busy noisy life at the main beach. They offer a free shuttle to Congas (Boat station 3) or to D'mall, the central hub of activity (Boat station 2). After the water activities, eating at restaurants, shopping and nite clubbing you can catch a trike back to the hotel for around P50 if you can find a willing driver. Staff are very friendly and Karen and John the managers will look after you, give you great tips and set up activities for you. They set up scuba diving with Eriq Brana at Seagaia who was awesome to go diving with.

Boracay Hills can arrange transfers to and from Caticlan airport for P425. They only have 10 rooms, which gives a very homely feel. The breakfast is nicely set up, I only had continental or american breakfast so it didn't require Michelin star cooking and was adequate. The pool is deep and clean, and the grounds are well kept and outdoor toilet well cleaned. They light a mosquito coil every evening on your patio which is a nice touch too.

My brother had his birthday back in NZ while I was staying in Boracay Hills and Karen and John arranged all the staff to gather so we could film them wishing him a happy birthday message. We also forgot our passports in the hotel safe when we checked out and rang Karen while on the ferry to Caticlan. She arranged one of her staff to take the ferry and deliver the passports to us at the Caticlan airport while we checked in and she did it free of charge. It's things like that makes it feel like you're staying with family as they go above and beyond for you. You're not anonymous at this hotel and you're more than just a room number. If you're after an affordable and friendly stay to chillax and gather yourself from the hustle and bustle of white beach, this hotel is for you!

Room Tip: Rooms closest to pool and lobby for easy access

Excellent hotel/resort away from all the noise and hustle you get in the center. It's a 5min drive with the free shuttle to the center so no dramas there! My friend how lives in Philippines was so happy with the place that he has booked a room for a month! That should say it all!
