Run down facilities under heavy construction, very poor value for money...
We had a very nice suite with view on the ocean AND construction zone. Fortunately their was no heavy machinery working during our stay however the machinery was present and I would hate to imagine the noise if they were working. We also had no hot water the first night, the elevator was out of order, we had to buy internet wifi coupons which didn't end up working anyway, the reception staff weren't aware of the hotel shuttle times, and we had no balcony furniture for either one of our balcony.
A visit to the old looking pool with no chairs, no table and the deserted pool bar that doesn't offer drinks will quickly make you realize that you will be better off to stay at the beach during your stay. The actual bar can be found in the run down building near the beach which also serves has a restaurant. Whilst the menu offers nearly 12 choices of main course, your meal quality, if available that day, would easily compete with your neighbourhood pub or local restaurant. And don't bother bringing your tennis racket, the court is used as a dumping ground.
On the bright side the beach front is splendid and the ocean is beautiful, however if you want to be laying down on one of their 8 beach long chair you will have to get up early to get there before the other guest. Once in the water, enjoying the ocean you won't be able to help yourself but to stare at the magnificent Shangri-La hotel with his very beautiful and amazing villas, which is just next door. Or Maybe you wont be able to take your eyes off this part of the bay simply to avoid looking at the construction site that you will call home if you stay at the Sol Marina.
We did tried to cancel our reservation as this was definitely not what we expected however the manager confirmed that their would be no way for us to cancel my reservation due to their cancellation policy.
This hotel is currently under construction and the work is expected to be completed in 2014. I am certain that it will be a great resort than but for the time being it is not worth going to it.
