This resort hotel was one of the best one on the island. The staff had great service and catered to our every need. From the time we arrived from the tarmac at Caticlan, they had our names on placards so that we knew where to go immediately. They took us in their van and drove us to the where we were to take the small boats to the island. We did not have to worry about our luggage at all - everything was taken care of. Our room was very clean and the room amenities were great - TV, Aircondition, Hairdryer, Safe, etc. The best part about this hotel are the cabanas that can be booked anytime during the day or night. You can sit back and enjoy the beach while staying out of the hot sun. The cabana waiters would come once in awhile to ask if we needed any drinks or towels. Massages are only 450 PHP - Cheap!
I would have rated the hotel Excellent if the food was also very good, but it was only mediocre.

Our stay at the Waling Waling was in May 2008 for 6 nights. Everything was nice from the start. The return transfers from Caticlan airport to Boracay was well organised. A member of staff greeted us at Caticlan airport and they had their own Waling Waling catamaran boat waiting for us in the jetty port. They gave us all welcome shell necklaces, water and face cloths to cool ourselves. This was a nice touch.

On arrival to the hotel, we had welcome drinks and the smooth check-in process was done quickly. We had paid extra for the buffet breakfast where they gave us vouchers to show each morning. The breakfast is an OK selection. There’s a choice of 2 cereals, small selection of fruit, orange, mango, pineapple juices. There are some cooked food, rice, sausage, soup and the cooking station to cook omelettes etc. In the breakfast area try and not sit close to the bushes as there are many insects, and you do get bitten, if you have sensitive skin. During our stay most nights it rained heavily at night, so in the morning this brought out all the insects.

The rooms were nice. We had booked 1 standard room; these have either 2 beds or 1 double bed and 1 superior room with twin beds. Standard rooms face the road at the back of the hotel and can be a bit stuffy. The superior have beachfront views with a balcony. Spacious bathroom, with good A/C, clothes dryer on balcony, TV etc.

As this is a beachfront hotel, we always go good spaces on the beach. The cabanas are good, just make sure you book these in advance when you arrive. Try and get a massage of you can in the tree house. It is so worth the great price P500 for and 1hour. That’s about £6.00 or £7.00!!! So relaxing!!!

Staff very friendly and try to assist you in everyway. Overall this hotel is highly recommended.

I couldn't have imagined a more perfect place for my vacation...it was wonderful.
This place is much better than many of the other hotel options, as it is far enough away from the noisy, crowded areas, yet still close enough to walk to dinner or a night out. And it's one of the best spots on the beach, with a sandy space to lounge on even during high tide (many of the others get water right up to the entrance). When swimming in the crystal clear water, there wasn't anyone else around for at least 50 feet.
The highlights of our stay were a private massage in the treehouse, the dinner buffet on the beach, and of course the famous cabanas! The cabanas are perfect, providing shade during the hot midday sun, and with hammocks to nap in when you're tired from swimming. Free to guests, we were able to reserve one every day for 6 hours (since we had booked two rooms). Just a word of advice...book your cabana time well in advance (as soon as you arrive) and make sure you get the times you ask for! The cabanas are full-service food and beverage all day...best mai-tais ever with the freshest fruit! And the food is delicious and very affordable (even the free breakfast was amazing, with a great selection of options).
The service was impeccable...hi to Zandelle and Rex; they were the best, and really ensured that we had a great time and didn't have to worry about a thing.
The rooms weren't all that special, but were very clean and well-stocked, and I don't know who would want to stay in their rooms in this paradise anyway. I just wanted to be on the beach! Just book a deluxe or superior room, so you get the beach side, not the street side, which could probably be noisy. It's well worth the extra $20 or so.

  • Liked — Direct beach access and the private cabanas
  • Disliked — nothing, really

Ive been wanting to stay in this hotel since last year but it was always fully booked. Finally, we were able to get a reservation this year and stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is very well-maintained, the amenities were great. They always filled up our refrigerator with complimentary water...and the bathroom with toilet paper, soap, etc. The food was great and staying in their cabanas right in front of the beach was so relaxing! But most of all, the staff are very well-trained. They were very friendly and they know how to handle even the most difficult customers. I was very pleased with them most especially their waiters Aubrey and Sherwin. Even if they worked long hours, they still managed to provide us excellent service which we really apreciated. It is because of their dedication that made us want to refer this hotel to our friends and family.

Kudos to your hotel and staff!!!

My family with grandparents and an uncle stayed here for 4 nights in Jan. 2007. What made our stay positive are the following:

1.) Station 1 hotels are less crowded and thus more relaxing (feeling of seclusion), bigger beach area, calm tides.

2.) Cabanas are excellent. We had our own the whole day where we took naps, ate lunch and snacks, check email/surf web (via laptop and free wifi), and just absorbed the beautiful beach and scenery right in front of us.

3.) Staff were great and helpful (maybe because of the high tips we gave). One staff member even took a trip to the local store for us to buy some necessities (e.g. medicine, bottled water, crackers, etc.). And another staff member made sure that we had a cabana reserved throughout the day.

4.) Breakfast buffet was full of local filipino cuisine that were delicious especially the sweet mangoes!

5.) The cheap full body massage inside a hut on top of a tower was the best!

6.) Our room was thoroughly cleaned every day.

7.) Had their own staff to greet and pick us up from the airport, drive us to their private boat, take the private boat to the island, then drive us to the hotel...all the while taking care of all our luggages and giving us interesting information about the islands, etc.

Now for the negative characteristics of the hotel:

1.) No POOL! No pool nor Jacuzzi! We had a 1-yr old that would've enjoyed a pool.

2.) Although breakfast was great, lunch and dinner were only average. Not much desserts in menu.

3.) Had music playing outdoors that kinda interfered with the serene beach scene. But it was turned down and, at times, turned off upon request.

4.) Hotel seem a bit small but also seem to be average size when I walked around to compare it with other hotels.
