“Exceeded Expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

I must admit, when we turned down the road leading to the resort I began to question my decision! However, as soon as we turned into the resort, we were so warmly greeted by Red and the rest of the staff. Our 3B villa was waiting on us and absolutely perfect! The grounds are so beautiful as are most of the views from this property. Anything we asked for had the answer "yes". The breakfast was great and was prepared when we asked for it. Had a couple of dinners while we were there and they make some of THE BEST chicken soup with green papaya. Still craving it! I cannot say enough about the staff. I came down with sun poisoning, and when the staff heard about my misfortune, they had freshly cut and sliced aloe waiting for me. It's the little things that makes this resort stand above the rest. I could have easily believed that we were the only guests staying at the resort, that's how great the attention to detail was! Can't wait to go back!

I have never been more impressed by hotel staff than during my stay at Argonauta. We came to the hotel in the aftermath of the supertyphoon Yolanda, and the hotel staff kindly informed us of the complications this would entail instead of taking our money and waiting until after we arrived to inform us like I would expect most hotels to do. They informed us that the power would be out during certain hours, and they would be running a generator to provide power whenever possible. This was completely out of their ability, as power had not been restored to the island, and everyone was forced to run generators (Nov-Dec 2013).

Despite these complications, they did whatever they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They provided us with a larger accomodation free of charge as a means of recompense for any disappointment the lack of power may have caused. Before we arrived, we had a last minute change of plans and we boarded an earlier flight than we booked. I sent an email to the staff at the very last minute and was not expecting them to respond so quickly. They successfully managed to arrange our airport to hotel transfer to reflect our change of plans while we were in the air. This gave me a good impression of the work ethic of the staff and their attentiveness, and it was only the beginning.

The manager, Jun was very happy to get to know us and we very quickly started off on a first name basis. He's one of those people that you feel like you've known for years right off the bat, and was happy to make sure that all of our needs were accommodated. During our stay there, he arranged a thanksgiving feast in order to relieve any homesickness that we might be experiencing. He also provided us with medicine, ginger tea, and other remedies when we came down with a fever. Before we set out on our trips, he gave us insider information on what prices to haggle for with parasailing, and which places should be on the top of our list. If I stayed somewhere else, I honestly don't know if I would have had the same Boracay experience.

The location is further out than the main white beach area, and this can be a positive or negative aspect depending on your situation. This was great for us, as we wanted to be somewhere more private and romantic, where we could enjoy our peace and quiet. For those who are more interested in partying, this might be a downside because you can't just walk back and forth between your hotel and the bars. That being said, the staff has a complimentary and very convenient shuttle that will drop you off anywhere on the island which we used many times. Getting back to the hotel from the white beach area is very reasonable and only costs about 100PHP, or about $2.50.

The view is spectacular during sunset, and you won't be bothered by the crowds like you would near Dmall. The hotel campus is very peaceful and scenic. They keep the premises well groomed, and they have their own private garden areas. It really feels like a peaceful sanctuary away from the more wild areas of the Island. The rooms are very clean and modern, and I can't think of any room for improvement. The breakfast is a nice bonus and the selection was decent. The price was reasonable, and compared to the other hotels on the Island, it's an amazing value.

As a final thought, my experience at Argonauta was among the best I can recall. Argonauta is an example of what every hotel should strive for.

Stayed 4 nights here in early January. The hotel is hidden away in cluster of villages and is accessible only by a one way road. However do not be fooled by the rustic surrounding as what is beyond the gates of the hotel is a vast difference of an experience!

We were warmly welcomed by Jun, the owner of the hotel. He gave us a splendid introduction and we hit off with him really well. He is constantly visible around the hotel and is always open for a conversation with guests. Jun pays attention to the details and goes the extra mile to make sure we have the best experience of this 5 days in Boracay. This positive spirit is transcended to his staffs and we could feel their warm hospitality and sincerity. An example was on the last 3 nights of our stay, I fell sick and the staffs made me ginger tea during breakfast and brought me chicken soup even after the kitchen was closed.

The hotels have houses which are terraced downwards from the main entrance. We had the best room in the hotel which provided a clear view of the private beach and also unblocked views of sunset. Our house also has a well equipped kitchen and a balcony. I will recommend anyone to stay in house 7 as it offered the best view in the hotel and nearer to the main entrance.

My impression of tour booking through hotels is usually overpriced and rigid but through Argonauta especially with Jun, its is a totally different ball game. Jun is more than happy to share his advice to guest on having the best experience and of course transparent rates, no tourist prices :)

Overall Argonauta provided my friends service standards which will put bigger establishments to shame. I will highly recommend anyone to stay here away from the hustle and bustle of station 2

Room Tip: House 7 provides beautiful views of the beach and sunset

Argonauta is located in station 1, a distance away from the mad crowds, touts and parties. It's tucked in a relatively residential area, perfect for people looking for some peace and quiet & who want to get away from it all.

The views are truly stunning...huge windows that let in plenty of natural light, & a breeze that never seems to stop blowing. There was also a little patio that could sit outside and admire the beautiful views.

The rooms are very spacious and well maintained. We got a 2 bedroom suite and it came with an extremely well equiped kitchenette, complete with stove, microwave, cutlery and crockery. We were not left wanting for anything!

The wifi is a little unstable at some points but it always comes back.

What really makes Argonauta stand out however, is the level of impeccable service. Jun, the proprietor was always there to make sure our every need was attended to. Better service than any 5 star hotel! My 2 friends was sick with zero appetitie & he got the kitchen to specially boil chicken soup for them & ferried them to the doctor's. Jun is honest, sincere & always delivers...no fast ones!

Don't let the location put you off as argonauta provides a free shuttle service to nearly anywhere on the island. And if u cant wait for the shuttle, the tricycle ride from anywhere on the island to the hotel is only 150pesos max anyway.

There are fireflies on the compound at night, & you can also have bat & bird sightings. Just ask Jun where the viewpoints are. :)

The only downsides: Food is a little slow (but seriously, there is no need to rush in paradise), location not within walking distance to any of the stations.

Nonetheless, Argonauta is worth every penny & made our time in Boracay even more magical. Go stay a few nights, you won't regret it!

We stayed at the Argonauta Boracay immediately after the storm that ravaged the Philippines. We had booked our stay 6 months prior, but due to the storm we were unsure if we would actually go to Boracay. We turned to the hotel and the management for information and advice, and found them to be very honest and understanding. We were given an honest depiction of life at the Argonauta and on the island. The management stated that electricity was only available on a generator that ran for certain hours during the day and that due to this rationing, everyday things like aircon, internet and refrigeration were heavily affected. The management also offered to buy us pre paid sim cards and data to help with our internet needs during our stay.

We arrived at the hotel at around 8pm and we were met by a very friendly team. As we had arrived later than scheduled the staff had prepared a traditional Filipino meal for us, which was very welcome after a long journey.

Our villa was very good with amazing views. The interior was modern, we had a dining area, kitchen and sitting area. The latter had exceptional views of the ocean. The only major problem we had was with the bathroom which seemed to stay humid no matter what and became a constant source of mosquitos. In fact, the beautiful gardens are home to all manners of creepy crawlers, so do take bug spray!

The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The GM is friendly and always willing to help out with suggestions for quiet beaches, great restaurants and local eats. Whenever we needed anything, we just called the office and our needs were met.

As many have pointed out, the hotel is a 10-15 minutes away from White Beach. However, like many other hotels, the Argonauta has a driver that will drop you off and pick you up (as long as you plan ahead). There is also a private beach next door that cost PhP500 per person to enter (however you can use the cover charge to buy food and drinks). There are two pools, but with such beaches close by, these pools just cannot compete.

We enjoyed our stay at the Argonauta, and the staff were amazing during a very testing time. If you prefer a quiet villa away from the hustle and bustle of Dmall and co, then this is a good option.

Lovely staff. Gorgeous gardens, views and pool. Located at the quiet, far end of the island. Staff were happy to drop us off wherever we needed to go. The main downside is that you can't just stroll to the beach (but you have drivers . But the sunsets and service (mostly) make up for that.

This place is a bit remote, but due to its very high service level you cannot complain after all. The team will drop you off by van at D’Mall (central spot) whenever you want. We used the service frequently and never had to wait for the transfer.

You can reach Argonauta from D’Mall within 10 Minutes by tricycle, which will cost you about 150 PHP.

Try private Balinghai Beach, right beside the Argonauta, it is a very nice experience, sometimes it can be reserved for private venues, especially on weekends.

Puka Beach is great as well, we advise to take a 5 minute walk to the left (sea in front at drop off) and settle at the premises of the Alta Vista Hotel, pay some money for Kabanas and take a rest there. The beachfront is more wide and you have a nice bar that you can order drinks from.

The villa we received was spacious, very tidy and perfectly equipped. The fridge is filled with a wide variety of beverages, whereas prices are absolutely reasonable. You can choose from different breakfast menus and also combine them individually, all of them are delicious and well prepared.

We strongly recommend to buy some fresh seafruits at Ditali papa, the wet market, and let it be prepared by the argonauta staff. Keep it simple with some butter and garlic sauce and you will be stunned by taste, as the staff really knows what they are doing.

Views are outstanding and again, i have to underline, the staff will be of your service in any matter, they are very quick and always friendly.

Room Tip: Go for the Bungalows, not the rooms.
