Crafty's bar was recommended to me by several ex-pats. I like spicy food and I was assured the Indian chef would be able to tickle my taste buds. I ate here several times and the food was consistently good, an opinion shared by diners around me. The menu covers Indian, Thai, Western, Italian and other styles; as the chef is Indian I generally stayed on the Indian menu and was never disappointed. The restaurant is on the top floor of Craft Supermarket and offers good views over the island covering both main beaches.
The ambience of the restaurant is very friendly and is very much a bar based restaurant. The joint managers of Crafts, Steve & Russ are regularly in attendance and a mine of local information. The staff are all genuinely very friendly and welcoming, it felt like my local within minutes of sitting down. As for the spices, the chef incorporates the spices into the food rather than just adding chilli powder so if you ask for 'explosive hot' you'll get something that tastes great, tickles the palate and tingles on the lips rather than just a hot aftertaste. I ate here more than anywhere else on the island - I wish I'd found it earlier.
