“Lovely hotel, quiet location out of town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

I stayed here with 4 friends over the new year period and overall we were very happy with the accommodation and service.

Things started on a great note with our transfer: we were collected from the airport then dropped off at the beach for a fabulous speed boat transfer (about 10 mins) over to the other side, accompanied by a glass of bubbles! It was a lovely start to the break after our flight and was very well organised.

We had a 2 bedroom suite, which included a small, separate 'maids room' so the 5 of us were able to sleep comfortably. There were some issues when we checked in as we had booked a twin and were placed in a double, but after initially telling us they had no other rooms, a load of guys turned up and started to move furniture around and before you knew it we had twin beds instead of a double!

It was a sizeable suite, with 2 nice bathrooms and all facilities you could ask for, including a well-stocked kitchen if you wanted to go down the self-catering route. The view from our suite was stunning, out over a lovely bay and quite often there were kitesurfers to watch while sunbathing. We had a balcony with a small table and chairs to enjoy the view from. The hotel is set in a very quiet area and as it's out of town there is no late night disturbance.

Breakfast was included in the price and there was truly something for everyone! From pancakes to freshly cooked eggs, to muffins to Asian dishes, there was plenty of choice to set you up for the day! We only ate breakfast in the resort so I can't comment on any other meals.

The pool area was nice with lovely views, all areas of the hotel were kept very clean.

The hotel is about 10 mins out of the main town. There is a regular shuttle service or for the more daring, guys with tuk-tuks and motorbikes wait at the end of the long hotel drive and will run you into town for the equivalent of about £1 one-way. This won't be for everyone, but we found that they drove carefully and they can't go that fast with 2 of you on the bike anyway! We loved it!

The shuttle has a couple of drop-off points; one of these is on a private beach area owned by the hotel where it is really nice to have a cocktail and watch the sunset.

Boracay itself is an incredibly long strip of beach, with bars and restaurants pretty much along the entire length. There is every type of food going, we had a recommendation for Dos Mestizos (Spanish tapas) and that was great, plus you must try chilli crab if you see it on special offer along the beach front! San Miguel beer is pretty much everywhere and if you like mango try a mango shake, they're addictive!

For those looking for a bit of late night dancing, try Summer Place, it's where a lot of the European dive instructors recommend and is lively most evenings.

While in Boracay we did lots of scuba diving. Our chosen dive school was Calypso and we weren't disappointed, they were so helpful with all our arrangements and the dive guides were all really friendly and knowledgeable. There are some great dive sites around this area and we saw some beautiful fish with good visibility levels. A must-try activity if you visit Boracay!

Wow, what a way to arrive. We were met at Caticlan airport by Florence from Monaco Suites. Within minutes we were in a mini van heading to the beach, ready for our transfer to Boracay. FYI, Caticlan airport is less than a 5minute drive to the ferry terminal and beach (so the closest place to fly into). We literally stopped on the beach and walked to a speed boat (owned by Monaco). Champagne was popped and we toasted the beginning of our holiday as we speed over to Boracay (a 5minute boat ride). Worth every cent of the 3000pesos return for both my husband and I (from airport to hotel in 15minutes or so is brilliant – and the hassle of doing it yourself just not worth it). Our return was just as fast - back to Caticlan airport in 20minutes door to door (now that is brilliant).

Monaco Suites - this place looks and feels like Oia in Santorini (perched high on a hill, villas, gorgeous colours with yellow and white). And it is whisper quiet. Whilst it is in the slightlier windier side of the island, the vibe is like time standing still with gorgeous views – making you feel like you are miles from anywhere.

When you need the hustle and bustle, the free shuttle van runs every 45 minutes to White Beach (D’Mall) and return. Super simple. Alternatively, you can also take the hourly shuttle to Station 3 and the private beach area for Monaco. We went down daily to D’Mall to indulge in hour long full body massage – finding the best place to be Harmonya Spa (station 2) with touts waiting on the beach (for air con full body we paid 350peso). It was also great to sit and watch the world go bye or walk along the beach, stopping for refreshing juices at Jonah’s.

Breakfast at Monaco for us was all inclusive in the room price. And talk about great - it leaves you wanting and needing nothing. Very European – yogurt (Emmi from Switzerland), breads/pastries, meats/smoked salmon, local hot dishes, nectars, great coffee, fresh fruit and omelette’s made to order. You are also served chilled filtered water – delicious to drink.

We ate at Monaco Suites one night – highly recommended as it is so easy (what is easier than a 2 minute walk from your villa). Both my husband and I had the pork ribs and fries – delicious with the meat falling off the bone (just the way you want it). There is also a good menu and great bar.
The stay at Monaco is brilliant – whisper quiet, huge suites, great showers, large fridges and kitchens (2 free bottles of water daily) and in terms of Wifi at Monaco – it is free and fast (accessible from everywhere). There is also a gym (which we visited daily) – treadmill and orbital bike got a workout – thank goodness for the air con.

In terms of Monaco staff – super friendly – from security to Sandra in the restaurant (who makes the best mango smoothie) and Ervin in the restaurant, Honey who was our email contact (and very helpful), Jayson who cleaned our room/helped us with DVD machine, Dionie who was always smiling and welcoming at D’Mall and the manager Thomas who personally assisted us during our stay.

What a great country - we love Filipinos – very friendly, smiley and helpful.

Finally: Best to change money in Manila as the rate is higher than Boracay. USD is the currency to bring (as it yields a better return than AUD).

Room Tip: All villas are brilliant. There is a bit of construction on the adjacent property - so better to req...

We had a family vacation last summer and it was my first time to meet my mother in law. It was wonderful, breakfast was lovely and place was fantastic. It's just a little bit far from the main white beach, about 10 minutes ride.

Monaco Suites De Boracay is a 5 star resort, with good food and good service. Breakfast is fantastic. If you want to stay in a quieter environment, this resort is highly recommended. Worth every cent. =) =) =) .
We stayed in two rooms Monaco Suites apartment. Room was neat and clean, and we had a fantastic sea view. The kitchen was well equipped if you want to cook for themselves. The hotel has a mini bus available, which transported guests free tii "D mall" (white beach). I just want to thank the Monaco Suites de Boracay for the great experiences we have had. I will certainly return here again. =) =) =)

Besides what other reviewers have mentioned about the friendly staff and the hidden location, the thing that impresses me most about this place is how exclusive every guest feels within the compounds. Roaming around Monaco Suites leaves one feeling instantly at home and having the place to themselves.

Transport in and out of the suites and the Mall is also a relaxing affair. In contrast, I saw other tourists in lines and crowding into buses to other hotels at D Mall. If I return to Boracay, I'd still pick Monaco Suites.

I'm also impressed by the private hideout we get at station 3, what with clean towels and umbrellas, top it all off with cushion! yes, cushion on your deck chair. There's nothing in boracay that lacks comfort.

Will advise you to bring your own toothbrush or buy one from the supermarket at D Mall though. The ones provided aren't suitable for sensitive teeth.

Tip: Avoid kayaking against strong winds unless you're a hardcore competitor.

Room Tip: Choose villas as high up the hill as possible, its breath-taking just lounging in the balcony.

Our stay was first class and our villa was perfect for a getaway in Boracay. It is all hustle and bustle down on white beach but it is wonderful to come back to the Monaco and chill, take in the sea air, the view and the friendly service. A place to relax and rejuvenate, I would recommend for those travelers who want a quieter holiday, don't want to be hassled by noise and frolicking young people. Perfect for the more seasoned tourist. It is on the windy side of the island but this is refreshing and the hotel has a beautiful outlook. Staff are so accommodating and friendly. Views are magnificent and the rooms are large, have great kitchens and bathrooms and wonderful patios. I can find no fault with this resort and would recommend to any one who wants a relaxing vacation.

Me and my family just stayed in a two-bedroom suite for one week. We, especially the children, like everything here: beautiful seaview and sunset from the belcony, infinte swimming pool, small but private beach, nice tropical garden, delicious food, always smiling staff.... We would defintely recommend this hotel to friends and will come back again!
