“A really nice resort in Boracay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2012

My family and I (husband and 7 year old daughter) stayed at Monaco for our Christmas holiday. I purposely picked a resort that was off the beaten path because I had heard from friends who had travelled to Boracay previously that the White Beach area can be very noisy at night a bit difficult to sleep if you happen to be next a location with lots of loud music and party-goers.

Monaco did not disappoint in this way, it was a lovely, well-kept, quiet resort. As prior reviewers have mentioned the shuttle service is excellent and necessary considering that it is a good 10 minute drive to D'Mall, especially in the evenings when traffic is particularly congested. We did not feel that we missed any of the ambiance of White Beach by staying at this location.

We had a one bedroom suite with an extra bed for my daughter, the housekeeping staff did a great job of keeping up the room, which when we arrived was clean, fresh and really big. We had a great view of the ocean from the huge balcony and never tired of watching the kite surfers in the bay outside. The pool was wonderful, very clean, though it could have been a bit warmer for my tastes. The jacuzzi was broken when we first arrived, but we mentioned it and it was fixed immediately. The hotel has 3 kayaks for your use as well as a jet-boat for rental. You can jet boat off of White Beach, but this is a nice amenity if you are hanging at the resort for the day and want to do some water activities without trekking to the beach. The price for rental is comparable to what you'd pay over at White Beach. We used the kayaks and paddled in the bay one afternoon as the tide was just coming in, the water is so clear and pretty tranquil when the wind dies down that you can really enjoy all of the fantastic sea life below.

The hotel has space reserved at Station 3 in front of Coco Loco restaurant for hotel guests. There is a shuttle that will take you there and it is about a 4 minute ride down the hill. We found this end of the beach to be wonderful and we ended up walking the entire of White Beach several times and really like the more quiet atmosphere of our location. Plus, if you're into snorkeling, about 500 meters down the beach is a great reef that you can walk to from Station 3 and see all kinds of great sea creatures. Sunday, who is the staff person from Monaco at the beach is wonderful, attentive and kind.

The best thing about Monaco above all else is the staff. They are so accommodating and very helpful. Whatever we needed or asked for they were there to help us out. Every morning when we came to breakfast, we received the warmest hellos and good mornings that felt very sincere. The chef took a liking to my daughter and several days prepared her special pancakes and on her last day presented her with chocolates to take home.

My only negative with this resort is the food. We ate breakfast here every morning and had one dinner on our last night because we were just too tired to go down to D'Mall. The food was passable, but not fantastic. There was a huge variety for every taste and included all of the standard Filipino and Western fare, but some days the cooked things just missed the mark. But truthfully, we found that throughout Boracay, this is not a "foodies" paradise.

Also, we used the hotel transport to get us over to Caticlan. It was a bit more pricey then if we had used trikes and the public ferry, but they walked us right through the process and we had our own speed boat to get us across the water. From the time we left the resort until we arrived at the Caticlan airport it was 15 minutes. The staff handled all of our bags for us and made sure they didn't leave until we were through the airport security and on our way. I would recommend if you want the personal touch, then spend the php 1500/person round trip and have the hotel handle your airport transport.

If we were to return to Boracay, we would certainly stay at Monaco again.

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk a lot, because there are lots of stairs here as the resort is built in...

The views from the hotel was breathtaking. Besides that, the service made you feel like some VIP on some extravagant holiday in another world. We didn't feel like we were in Asia, as the views really blew us away. And if you stay there, regardless of where you're located, you will have unblocked views of the sea, with its colors and entertaining views of the water sports held in the cove.

All the suites had enormous balconies and enormous rooms, it was basically a giant service apartment with class. Views from the rooms and the balconies made you refuse to leave your hotel room. Even though it is not located on the white beach stretch, and didn't have a good beach at the hotel itself, if you want to go to the white beach area, theres a regular service that brings you to a spot at Station 3 which belongs to the hotel, of the white beach which was fabulous! Only a 5 min ride, its location was quiet with great service, such as towels and drinks with good views of the beach and its alluring waters. They also have a separate regular service to DMall, where all the life and action of Boracay is. And the transport services to these areas are all free and very regular.

Their buffet breakfast also was absolutely fantastic, with a wide variety of choices that they vary the 4 days that we were there. Plus the view of the sea and islands, it sure did make the food taste even better. Our vacation was memorable and great thanks to this hotel, which really made our day. The panoramic views were just plain awesome and it really showed us the best of both worlds that Boracay has to offer, the white sand beaches and this hotel on a cliff facing the sea. Highly recommended for those with families or couples, wanting some time alone or to vegetate, away from the busyness or noise of the nightlife of Boracay.

Room Tip: Guests with physical ailments, try to get rooms near the hotel lobby, as this hotel was built into a...

The Monaco suites is a beautiful Hotel nestled in its own private area about 15 minutes drive away from white beach the main area of Boracay, but don't let that put you off.
Ideal for a romantic get away or a group of friends this is a fantastic alternative to the busy white beach which looked like a lot of fun but was teaming with tourists

We opted for the 2 bed, 2 bathroom (one had a shower and the other had a bath shower / combo). Both bedrooms were large and had very comfortable beds. One had a tv on the wall and the other had an amazing balcony and view plus a safe.

The lounge, kitchen and dining areas are large and very well equipt and the fridge is large enough for all your food / beverages if you feel the need.

Tv is even well stocked with english channels if you get a few wet days and they even will supply you with dvd's which may be good if the weather lets you down.

Staff are very friendly and helpful and the van that goes into boracay (d'mall and monarco suites's own private area on white beach) is a welcome but necessary addition as it is quite a way from the heart of Boracay. Certainly not walkable.

We only tried the breakfast and this is one area where I believe the hotel could improve. The food was only average (in taste and selection) although acceptable.

The pool is amazing; large, warm with loads of sun loungers / towels and the staff are exceptionally attentive for drinks and food, and the little beach area is small but sweet. For those who love some privacy the grass area above the beach but below the pool is also ideal for sun bathing and there are even some kayaks to paddle around on for the energetic and adventurous.
Oh and the red buoy that is 40 meters out is there for your benefit as beyond that point is home to a few local sea urchin that have a rather nasty sting if stood on.

Lastly the gym is an excellent addition at the top of the residence near the guard house under room 313. Well equipt with aircon and towels.

- US style plugs and lots all over the house plus a hair drier for the ladies.
- A/C in every room
- Huge balcony and rooftop for sun lounging

Overall an amazing stay and would not hesitate to come back.

I came out with a couple of friends and I would definitely suggest coming with people as for the single traveller I would imagine it may be a little too far away from the action for some. It really is quite remote, but even then the bus/van runs every 30 minutes up until 11pm so not all bad.

As soon as I entered I felt like a king. From the friendly and efficient service to the mouthwatering food. They met my expectations if not even more! Sadly I went there on my own, I would have loved to bring my wife to this beautiful place. The rooms were perfect, the ocean view from the massive balcony is a moment to remember. Wether it be family, friends, business or even on a honeymoon. This place is made for those unforgetable moments.

I loved everything about this resort hotel! It was the perfect location to spend a romantic holiday because we had our privacy when we wanted as well as access to the busy main beach when we felt like getting out and being surrounded by other people.
The architecture is captivating and the rooms were lovely!
Food is delicious and service was flawless throughout our stay.

Really can't wait to get back to Monaco!

From arrival to departure we were looked after like friends at the Monaco Suites. Great food, wines, beach, sea, jacuzzi ..... And a beautiful comfortable clean suite of rooms.

Monaco is away from the highly developed area of Boracay, but regular transport (15 minutes) is provided, when the need for variety comes. Enjoy the best of both worlds.

Room Tip: book early -it's popular
