“Excellent flavors but overpriced.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2009

I have definitely had better on Boracay. The location was very difficult to find, and when we arrived we were the only ones there. Ambiance was nice, but half the selections on the menu were not available. The food we did have was delicious, but not a good value for the price compared to other restaurants on the island.

“Absolutely the best food on Boracay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2009

Kasbah really was one of the highlights of our trip to Boracay. Some of the most superbly prepared middle Moroccan dishes and drinks I've ever had anywhere in Asia! - and who would guess.. on the beautiful white sand beach of Boracay!!

Impeccablely authentic Middle Eastern food, ambience and artistic flavor that, coupled with friendly staff and good friends, made Kasbah an absolute MUST, next time anyone visits Boracay!

“This must be the first restaurant you go to on Boracay - brilliant place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2009

As soon as the hunger pangs set in then get yourself down to Kasbah.... don't mess around with any other restaurants as the food here is exquisite and the staff and owners are brilliant fun....

Chilled out beach front spot with a superb menu which will never fail to delight plus some great tunes.

Honestly the best place to chill out

Go there first as I guarantee you will be back again and again during your trip!

Love the place

“Kasbah Bar & Restaurant: Sublime Setting for Drinking and Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2009

I've been to Boracay several times, and during the last three trips, I made sure to have a meal or a drink or two -- with either friends or family -- at The Kasbah Bar & Restaurant.

What draws me, and so many others, to this place?

For one thing, there's the location. It's situated near the far end of Station 1, away from the sometimes-overwhelming hustle and bustle of D'Mall and Station 2. It's somewhere you can enjoy an excellent meal or a round of drinks without being annoyed by hordes of passers-by or hawkers selling their various wares.

This isn't to say that the area's tranquillity makes it boring. It's a pleasure to just lounge on the colorful beach sofas, sipping a cocktail or a beer while admiring Boracay's famous summer sunsets, watching people strolling along the beach (and these people walk by at a distance from you, not just a few inches, so there's never a feeling of being crowded or of your personal space being violated, which can happen a lot in Station 2 especially during summer or other peak times).

And if you're there at the beginning of the "habagat" season, around late May-early June, when the southwesterly winds start to come in, you can also be treated to the sight of kitesurfers and windsurfers having fun and doing their stuff in the water. These watersports enthusiasts usually populate Bolabog Beach on the other side of the island, but during habagat, they move to White Beach, where Stations 1,2, and 3 are located.

It should be mentioned that establishments on White Beach, the main beach, put up protective screens during the height of the habagat season to shield them from the strong winds and sand that may be blown about, so expect some of the view to be obstructed.

But whatever the season, drinking and dining at The Kasbah is a visual delight because of all its Moroccan-themed furniture and furnishings, the vast majority of which were imported from Morocco. These include the whimsical hanging lanterns, the tiny table lamps, the tagine earthenware, the ornate mirrors, etc.

Background music isn't confined to just today's most popular hits, either. In fact, more often than not, your ears are treated to provocative Moroccan/African and other eclectic beats and rhythms.

Finally, there's the food, the main reason why this restaurant has skyrocketed in popularity shortly after it opened, and continues to increase its following. Here are just a few of my Kasbah menu favorites:

- The Kemia cold appetizers. I think they go well with pre-dinner drinks.

- Tangier Calamares. I love squid, and the flavorful way this dish is prepared here is just heavenly.

- Skewered Prawns (Brochettes). The first time I had this dish, my taste buds seemed to explode from its spiciness. Now they just revel in it.

- Lamb Tagine. This is The Kasbah's signature dish, and its most popular. I'm not surprised. The meat is so tender and mouthwatering, not at all stringy like some lamb dishes I've had in several other restaurants. It isn't just scrumptiously flavorful, it's also very filling -- especially with its accompanying side dishes. Tagines are served in authentic tagine vessels, which is so cool.

There are some menu offerings I'm not a big fan of, like the Tahini Soup and Panna Cotta, but on the whole, I find their food very savory and satisfying.

Delectable dishes, a location in the laid-back part of Boracay's White Beach, exceptional ambience, and efficient yet friendly customer service -- these are some of my reasons for going to The Kasbah whenever I'm in Boracay.
