“A place to return again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

We spent 5 great days at Estrella Resort. This past january. We found the a frame bungalow ,roomy .And very clean. The restaurant was excellent, with a few different choices every night. The owners and staff were friendly ,but not obtrusive. Making for a relaxed atmosphere. We loved meeting the locals, and found everyone on the island very friendly. We were very happy with day trip organised at resort. And our guide was so sweet and genuine. A real treat overall

We spent 5 nights here, it is on a lovely little island where we were made to feel really welcome both by the staff and the residents of the island. It is a small island with no town, so don't expect bars and clubs. We tried scuba diving for the first time which was so much fun we did it again 2 days later. We also did snorkelling and a tour of nearby Bohol island. The beach isn't the best as the sand goes straight down to the reef, so if you want to snorkel this ok, but if you want to paddle or splash about it isn't good, though on the plus side this keeps the hordes away and you can have a nice relaxing time.

Room Tip: The hobbit house is worth a look, there are two double beds, on downstairs in the main room, and als...

Extremely nice and kind staff, very clean bungalows set in a beautiful garden surrounding. The coral reef is really just in front. The little beach is not that nice though, but there are plenty of hammocks etc to hang out in the garden. Food is pretty good though nothing spectacular. We went off season though, when it was very empty and tranquil which much added to its charm. There is nothing else to do beyond being under water or going for little walks in the surroundings as this is a very small island with no (tourist) infrastructure. That can be a great thing or not, depending on what one is looking for.

We have planned to stay here for around 7 days but we left earlier since my wife could not bear the very basic environment any further. A request for the W-Lan key was denied in a very unfriendly way. If you are looking for a backpacker type of holiday its probably the right spot.

The room are big and clean, with private bathroom and have terrace on front beach.
The owners are very nice.
This wonderful and romantic place is not so far of the main street in Santa Fee.

We just came back from the 4 nights stay at the resort. We were very happy to have chosen the place and will definitely go back again.
The staff were very friendly which accounted a lot for our enjoyable stay. They remembered us by names and our preferences on meals. There were families with small children at the time and we saw the staff were very friendly and attentive with the kids.
We were happy with the meals as well. Since the breakfast and dinner were included we expected to have a buffet everyday but we actually could choose what we wanted from the menu - curry, pork chop, salad, soup....etc
We stayed in an "A shape bungalow" which had a very simple/minimal amenities and kept in very clean and good shape. Although there was no hot shower it wasn't really needed considering the warm temperature. It would've been more comfortable if there was an AC but the fan was cooling enough through the night. The electricity comes on around 6pm and it comes on & off during the day. There was a free WiFi whenever the electricity was on.
The beaches weren't as clean as we expected but the water was so clear & calm and we enjoyed snorkeling. We did not dive but one of the guests told us that the diving instructor was very good especially for the beginners.
It is true that there's nothing but eat, sleep, snorkel/dive to do on this island but we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back again.

We stayed at La Estrella for 4 nights in February. The island of Cabilao is a gem and popular for diving. Diving and snorkelling were both very good and the dive centre linked to La Estrella is well run. There are approx. 17 huts in the resort, they are concrete construction but clad in nipa, so they are very practical but fit it with the surrounding environment. Rooms are spacious and include a fan, bathrooms inc. western toilet and cold water shower. Our deal included breakfast and dinner and the food was very good: good choice of breakfasts and though a limited choice for dinner (2) they were prepared to a high standard. The resort is set in pretty surroundings. While we were there the electricity supply was a bit erratic (not enough to be a problem). Most of the guests were German.
