“Very clean, good service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2011

Hi,
I stayed at this place for 2 nights in Jan 2011. I have to say that I was impressed by this resort, as the quality/price ratio is very high.
Even though I was traveling alone, I was given a big room with 2 queen size beds and a spacious bathroom. Everything was very clean. Perfect aircon (powerful), a minibar, boiling kettle, 2 wardrobes + many cupboards etc. Free WiFi with excellent coverage. The pool was a nice touch, most of the time empty (i.e. of people, not water :-).
The food served at the hotel restaurant was quite good.
The personel was very helpful and friendly.
The resort is very quite at night, as it's quite isolated from the main road (200 yards), which brings us to the only drawback: yes. it's quite far from Puerto Princesa proper.
A tricycle ride to Rizal Avenue takes approx. 20 - 30 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Apart from that, a very nice hotel, that I would gladly recommend to anyone.

Nikos is situated a bit outside of Puerto Princessa, but a perfect place to stay as it is quite, very clean, super well managed and easy to get to by tricycle. Rushelle, the manager, is very helpful and organizes everything for you. A bit disapointing was the Island Hopping in Honda Bay. We recommend to rent bikes and leave the city of Puerto for a day or two.

Niko's was fantastic. We booked a package for a 2 night/2 day stay. They picked us up at the airport and delivered us to the hotel. Very impressed with the whole experience. Great service, cheap prices for bar & minibar. Staff was excellent and friendly. Free WiFi was great. Room was very comfortable and more than we expected. Food was decent but not fantastic (I found food in general in the Philippines to be disappointing). It is the only place I stayed in Puerto Princesa but its hard to see what could be made better. Location was good and had access to shops etc nearby. Tours were good and same as every other tour being sold in town....seemed highly regulated and controlled. Would easily recommend Niko's to anyone going to Puerto Princesa.

Took package tour for 5 days 4 nights for honeymoon. Treated us like royalty! Room was very clean as was the pool and grounds. Staff very attentive, food excellent! Actually better food there than in town! Only 2 years old resort, would definately go back just to see the staff as they became our friends.

We stayed for 4days/3nights and it wasn't enough. The food is excellent..and plentiful! The place is clean and well-maintained. The staff is friendly and accomodating. The pool is a bonus..an excellent way of tiring out your kids =) Our 3rd day got rained out and they substituted one of the tours and brought us to Leslie's Hilltop restaurant..yummy. We bought the package and they refunded the unused portions for those people who did not go on a particular tour. There's a convenience store at the corner before you get to the street where Nikos is located. Take the public transport to go the souvenir shops at "Tiangge-tiangge(market-market)." This is where you can get stuff cheaper. You have to haggle. I will definitely stay here again.

I, like most others on Trip Advisor, read the reviews for Niko's and decided to give it a try. Although I didn't have high expectations, it actually fell short of some of the experiences I've read on this board. BUT REGARDLESS, I highly recommend the hotel for visitors to Puerto Princesa. The reason is the service and the convenience they provide that you probably won't find anywhere else.

I booked with Ann directly via email, and yes I did have to run to the bank for a deposit, but that's rather an easy thing to do. I rated value a bit lower because comparing in USD, it doesn't really feel like the hotel I'd pay for at that rate. But in the end, it is what it is, you get the service and a small outdoor resort you won't find anywhere else.

The driver (who also have like a 100 other roles at Niko's) picked us up at the airport, no hassle there. I also had to stop at multiple banks and he gladly took us where we needed to go before heading back to Niko's. I know it's funny but I actually liked the driver the most out of my recent trip, definitely a keeper!

Once upon checkin, the welcome drinks and check in documents were already prepared just like others noted on this board. Ann was there and the check in was smooth. Note that there's only one area for checkin/recreation/bar/restaurant/everything else. But it's precisely why it's got the cozy feel to it. The room was already ready and with the AC on. We proceed to our room and decided to take a nap. Around mid-afternoon we were woken up by a bunch of kids screaming. Later, we found out that they were local kids from the outside to play in the pool. This was actually a turned off for us as I preferred the quiet all-to-ourselves enviroment, only to have 'outsiders' use the pool where we can't relax there by ourselves. We ended up not saying anything because perhaps they paid to use the pool from the outside, and that we're not different even though they're locals. It would seem rude to question. So we actually didn't use the pool until most of them were gone, but we did have the thought that since they're local kids, they might not have the proper education and might have urinated in the pool when playing (we all probably did when we were kids). Please note this is just our thinking, so don't take this the wrong way.

We signed up for the Honda Bay tour, and everything was perfect, no hassle there yet again, and everything is charged to our room until the day we check out.

The room itself is nothing to rave about, but it is clean and spacious. Of course we can talk about the mattress and towels, but we're just kidding ourselves if we do that knowing we're in a small destination in a rather undeveloped area no matter how you spin it.

Last thing would be the restaurant. Gotta give them props to run a full menu even with limited resources. Yes, some are always not available, but we're not faulting them. Depending on your taste, some of the food might be ok. As always, you have the option to go out to town for other restaurants, but other than a Kinabuch, I'm not sure if other restaurants in town is worth the trip to go out there rather than eat at Niko's.

Overall I'd definitely stay there again if I visit again.
