“Very Nice retreat away from the crazy city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

This property is very clean and new looking with large rooms, good bed, international TV service, simple breakfast and friendly staff. The owner/manager (family run) will take care of your needs if you tell her and desires to be helpful. There is no room refresh service provided (which they should advise in advance) but I did not find it a problem. Towels provided are rather small and soap bar is next to useless being so small. The 8 rooms (4 ground level and 4 upstairs) are equipped with an efficiency type counter with mini-fridge, kitchen sink and long counter, but no cooking facility.

The pool is fantastic and there is always music playing by the pool and pool bar, usually tasteful but sometimes pounding modern music if the young staff get to choose what's playing. Every evening, a music video was showing, I got to enjoy Diana Krall live in Rio de Janeiro and Celine Dion's Las Vegas show ... a real treat as evening entertainment under the stars and by the pool. Lots of outdoor tables and seating throughout.

Very good value and a nice getaway from the madness of Puerto Princesa city.

Room Tip: Room #1 is by the pool but also has 2 speakers attached on the outside wall for the music running al...

I love Mam Citadel so much! lol... She given us discount, she took care of my son who slipped on the floor and got a bump on his head. She got panic and gave me ice and order her crew to give me some ice cubes. She gave me consideration for our check out as we went to the city. And a lot more, she was so friendly. She loves kids!

The place was so peaceful and so neat. The pool was just so perfect for my kids, it's like hot tub. My kids swam for almost 3 hrs without even shaking and complaining.

The room was just a bit small, but it's ok.

Thanks Mam Citadel :)

My family and I stayed here for 5 nights and wish we could have stayed longer..The owners Citadel & Franz made our vacation a good experience..The rooms were large and modern..The hotel grounds are extremly clean and tidy and the pool kept immaculate..It is difficult to fault this hotel for the price we paid..You can walk to Robinson's Mall and the beach or take a tricycle for 20php/person..I never had any problem with the internet..
We did two tours one to the Underground River (1500/head) and the other Island hopping (1200/head) where you visit 3 islands with plenty of opportunity to snorkel..The tours last approx. 8 hours..We did not go to El Nido because it involved a 6 hour van ride there and back, but we intend to come back next year and stay in El Nido for two nights and the rest of our vacation at the Citadel Inn..
There is a sink & fridge in the kitchen area but no facilities to cook..

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same quality

We stayed here for a total of 5 days recently while going to and from El Nido and have nothing but positive comments. The facilities, management and staff are first rate. Our room (#1) was absolutely spotless, spacious, and comfortable. The residential location is peaceful and quiet but it's an easy 10-15 minute walk to a nice, modern shopping mall with stores and restaurants or a short tuk-tuk ride to the hustle and bustle of downtown. Among the many perks making this an extraordinary value were the free airport transport, in-room drinking water, instant coffee and hot pot, daily breakfast (juice, coffee or tea; eggs cooked to order; sausage or fish; and rice or toast), satellite TV, free wi-fi, and wonderful, CLEAN swimming pool. We didn't look at any other hotels or guesthouses while in Puerto Princesa so can't do a true comparison, but it's difficult to imagine a better find than the Citadel.

I wasn't really expecting the place to be so nice for the price. Nice sized room and a good pool. Its a little far out the way so if you are planning to go to the town a lot if might not be worth it as you will have to pay around 70 pesos for a tricycle each time. If you are going to do some tours its ok because you can get the vans to pick you up and then relax after by the nice pool. Breakfast was fine, drinks are a little expensive. The internet can be a little iffy but overall I loved this place

What we liked...

This family run business is extremely well maintained. The rooms and common areas are spotless. It really shows that it's family owned and very well looked after. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable, bathrooms are very clean, power shower with hot water. But the swimming pool is just perfect, great to relax after a long day out and about, with a very nice garden. The place felt like home and we even decided to spend a day using the facilities and enjoying its surroundings. Free tranfer to/from the airport. The owner is super friendly and staff are always ready to help. Excellent value for money.

What we didn't like so much...

Given the fact that this is budget acommodation that actually feels like a 3 star hotel in Europe, I don't feel entitled to complain about anything. Breakfast is not amazing but good enough. Its location can be too far away from the city center but in return the area is very quiet, with beautiful mahogany and papaya trees surrounding it - and the city center really is noisy with very heavy traffic.

Room Tip: All are equally good. You can choose ground floor or first floor, so the latter are more private but...
