Description: We went to this restaurant on 13 April 2011 and it had opened just a week beforehand. The decor, both inside and out, was novel and really tasteful. Food was delicious and service great. Even the owner came up and asked us personally how we found the food and service. I'd highly recommend a meal here!

“'TWAS GOOD”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Visited this place because of all the reviews here on TripAdvisor. The food was good and affordable (Php1000 for 4 people). The interior design was very interesting thanks to the locals artists whose paintings were being displayed all over the place. We were the only customers though - I think the place would be more lively come night time, we were there at lunch. According to their bulletin board, they have live bands who play. So if you do visit this place, make sure it is a night! :)

“Funky little cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

My husband went here for our last dinner in Puerto Princesa. The place is definitely worth a visit! It has art from local artist all over the place. When we were there it seemed to be a 'creepy doll' theme. Bit weird but interesting.

I had the rice and ground beef dish. It was delicious! I love fried egg and plantains with pretty much anything. I also had the guyabano shake which was excellent.

My husband had the "burrito" which was more of a wrap. I thought it was nice and fresh but he though it didn't have much flavour. He did love salsa verde that came with it.

While we were waiting for our food we have a very intelligent conversation with our server about the socioeconomic impact of the current tourism boom and upcoming election. One doesn't usually expect that from waiters! It was pretty cool. Generally speaking, we found that maybe of the locals are very aware of the changes happening to Palawan.

Anyway... it is a neat little place with good food. It sounds like some people have ordered dishes and then gotten something not to their expectations. Keep an open mind and enjoy!

“great food!”

Lunch is not that busy. Food is great! A lot of western food. Awesome service and great art you can see inside. The coffee was also good but you get a big mug!

“Nice, eclectic decor and great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Looks and feels exactly like what an Art Cafe should be, but more importantly, the food does not disappoint. Reminds me of the time when Remedios Circle was still a bohemian enclave with its collection of quaint and unique boutique restaurants rather than the yuppie destination it became during the late 90s. Sort of like Penguin Bar but with better food and finer design sensibilities. But I digress -- The Gypsy's Lair is a must-visit restaurant when in Puerto Princesa City.
