“Will stay here again...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

This place is a little out of the way but I think it's well worth your money. The rooms are clean and the showers worked fine. It's also very quiet. Breakfast was okay.

What I liked best about this place was the atmosphere. Unlike other places in Puerto Princesa, this place is all about nature. Lots of lush greenery. For city slickers like me, this was a breath of fresh air.

We decided to take a walk to the nearby beach but it wasn't worth it. Save the swimming and the sunbathing for the Honda Bay tour.

You might encounter some difficulty finding a tricycle to take you to the middle of the city (where the restaurants are). But aside from waiting a little longer than usual, it wasn't bothersome at all.

We read reviews first about hotels in Puerto Princesa and this hotel have a lot of good reviews. So we booked by calling them and sending emails for any questions. They answer all our questions and we informed them how long we will stay and the places we want to go. (1 month prior our flight). They just get our information and payment (just 20%) was a bank to bank transaction. Everything was so smooth.

When we get there, there's already a van waiting for us. Welcome drinks were alreadt served. The room was nice. It was so spacious and clean. Cable tv, small ref, cabinet. Shower is working good. Wifi signal is good at the lobby but not in our room but we did not go there for the wifi.

They only serve delicous breakfast which they ask you to choose before you go to sleep at night so they can prepare.

They also do the reservation fo us to the restaurant we want to have dinner. These are the popular resto wherein a lot of people go so reservation is needed. You can also ask Kuya Dexter or Ramon to accompany or fetch you.

The Underground river, island hopping and city tour were all well organized..they will inform you what time ofr your scheduled trip.

There's also a nearby beach..20 pesos entrance and 200 pesos if you need cottage but we did not rent cottage..it was so beautiful. Very calm and relaxing

The only problem we had was when we are about to go to the airport the driver of the van was not there so we wait for like 5 to 10 mins so we decided just to use their tricycle which we used whenever they fetch us from the resto/bars. And airport was so near like 5 mins from the hotel.

All in all we had a great experience staying in Kookaburra..I miss Palawan..very beautiful paradise!

we picked this hotel because of its proximity to the airport, upon arrival we were greeted by their friendly staff and checking in is fast. we stayed at their standard room with a/c cable tv and mini ref.
what i like the most abt this inn is that it has a number of power outlets, two near our bedside table , 4 near the television and another 2 in the bathroom, being a tech savy couple it is a must for us since we bring alot of electronic gadgets with us whenever we travel.
staff members are very friendly whenever we need a ride to the city proper the will contact someone and fetched us at the hotel

Room Tip: we stayed at room 201 it is clean and very well maintained, the bathroom has hot and cold shower

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with a mini-vacation to Palawan. In the past, we have vacationed in Mindoro, Bohol, and northern Luzon. Our stay at Kookaburra was by far the best experience of them all. The Kookaburra staff was extremely cordial and professional. Their hospitality made our stay a pleasant experience. Every member of the staff made a positive impression on us including Dexter, Weenie, King, and Bernadette. Raymond was very courteous and took good care of us. The support staff of Arleen, Badeth, and Kuya Pol was also very helpful and friendly. We felt secure with Kuya Bimbol, the security guard, on the property during the evenings. Overall, Kookaburra Lodge was clean and well-managed. The rooms were very nice with a fridge and cold air conditioner. The beds were fresh and comfortable. The bathroom was compact but very clean and adequate. Kookaburra was quiet and rural-like but close to all the attractions of Puerto Princessa. The land surrounding the lodge was lush, beautiful, and peaceful especially in the morning and evening. Kookaburra Lodge was very affordable and my wife and I hope to return someday because of the friends we made there. We highly recommend the Kookaburra Lodge.

The reservation transaction was fast and efficient and they arranged all our tour packages. The staff are attentive to our needs and are always approachable. Since we traveled with another family, I booked two family rooms which are located at the top most floor of the building. We had the entire floor to ourselves. Also, there is a nearby beach, only 5 minutes walk from Kookaburra.

Room Tip: For four or more persons, book the very spacious family room.

We stayed 4 nights in the top floor suite, which has an all around private balcony with views over the countryside and bay. The room is huge, very well furnished and with really good quality bed and linens. Service was very friendly, and the breakfast was served in the room, and was of good quality and preparation. Everywhere spotlessly clean, and staff efficient. The receptionist King was ready to help whatever the reqyuirement.
The hotel is a ten minute tricycle ride out of town ( Pesos 30 to 50 depending on the time of travel. In the evenings 50 because of lack of any passengers on the return journey). Beach next door is dreadful and not worth the 5 minute walk there.. Generally fairly easy to pick up a tricycle outside - never a problem getting one back from town.
