“If you want to be pampered.. choose this resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

I and my family just came back from 4D/3N at Miniloc resort. The service was world class...from the moment we departed from the private terminal to Palawan and back to Manila we were pampered with very good service! They gave us options and arrange our activities around the Island and all we had to do was show up on time. Aside from lounging around we did island hopping, kayaking, rock climbing, discovery diving and wind surfing. Snorkeling was okay.

I've been to a few resorts in the Philippines and most of them cannot compete with the service/value that other resorts in south east asia can offer. However, I can truly say that Miniloc Island can compete with other resorts in SEA and I can recommend to people to visit this place as you won't be disappointed.

I gave this resort a rating of 4 because there are 3 things they need to improve on:

1. Sales team
They are quite amateur and slow to respond to bookings and requests making an easy task seem so hard! If we weren't determined to go to El Nido we would have taken our business elsewhere. We also requested for a particular bungalow number which was confirmed but when we arrived we were given a different bungalow. When we asked the resort why this was the case they said that the sales team did not pass on the agreement. hmmmm.

2. Bathrooms
The bathrooms in the over the water bungalows need to be renovated as they are quite outdated.

3. Massage Cabana
The massage cabana was in a passageway so sometimes when noisy guests walk past you are disturbed from your relaxing massage with their chatter.

Those aside our stay at the resort was fantastic. There are so many things to do and even if we stayed 5 days we were not bored even for a minute. The following are a few of the activities we did and ones which I highly recommend (we did a few more things and mind you we had 1-2 days of rain but that did not stop us from exploring!).

1. Snorkelling (many spots to choose from)
Miniloc Island has its own reef so you do not need to go far and their house reef has plenty of healthy corals and fishes plus the water was calm and warm! We also went snorkelling in the small lagoon, Entalula beach club and Lagen Island. The reef at Lagen Island is also quite interesting and was a different landscape from the ones near Miniloc so I strongly suggest not to miss this site. Saw a barracuda here so be careful!

2. Relax at Entalula Beach Club
We spent one of our days in Entalula Beach Club which is an island a few minutes off Miniloc. There are lounge chairs by the shore where you can catch some rays/relax/read a book and a small shack that serves drinks. Snorkelling is also good but you have to go further out for the corals and fishes. Beach was lovely for swimming as well.

3. Have lunch at the entrance of Big Lagoon
Booked to have lunch at the lagoons, the resort will pack a small lunch buffet for you so this is not the usual picnic of sandwiches but a feast! Then after we kayaked around the big lagoon which is a must because you can explore the area better than being on a speedboat plus you avoid the "rush hour" when all other visitors from different resorts are there. While kayaking we went around the areas not accessible by speed boat and experienced the beauty of the lagoon in tranquility. We then kayaked back to the resort which took about 15 mins but don't go back too late as the waves get choppy in the late afternoon. The resort boat checks on you maybe 2 times during the time so if you want to kayak back ask them to take any belongings you do not want on the kayak.

Now to the resort and room facilities.

Overall the resort is clean, orderly and well managed. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are all buffet style and even for picky eaters you will find something to eat. They mostly serve local Filipino food but add a few western and also other asian dishes in the mix.

The staff are so helpful (except for 1 bartender but hey let's just let that pass). One afternoon as we were returning to the hotel we saw that our clothes left hanging in the balcony were in danger of getting wet due to the rain passing through we told the staff who welcomed us back that we needed help putting our clothes back in the room so they don't get wet. And in a matter of a minute of her making that call to housekeeping I saw them running to our bungalow to ensure our clothes weren't drenched! Such genuine sincerity in making sure their guests are looked after.

We were in an over the water bungalow. The room was clean but on the small side. The bathroom was also small with a shower, toilet and sink (no bath). No TV in the room but anybody who stays in the resort and chooses to watch TV instead of being out in the beach is wasting their time/money by doing so. There is a balcony with a couch where you can sit by and watch the sunset or just watch the fishes.

When we first booked our stay at El Nido I thought that it was a bit expensive but after staying there i can say that it was worth every peso. The premium rates is reflected in the management of the resort, training of the staff, available activities, efficiency of the boat transfers plus care of the environment they are in.

Top-notch resort and would definitely go back and urge other travellers to visit as well!!!

Room Tip: Request for over the water bungalow #1 for unaltered view of the beach/cliffs.

I fell in love with this place from the moment I got off the plane. It is by far one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I was looking for a place to decompress after a stressful school year, and it delivered in a major way. The resort itself was kind of rustic and simple, but the views more than made up for that. The food was decent. Everyone on staff seemed concerned that I was traveling alone, and went out of their way to make sure I was ok, and having a good time. Not necessary, but ok. In some ways, this vacation was very scripted. There are specific places and activities they will take you to. They showed you the best of what the place had to offer. Great views, incredible rock formations, great water activities. Not much to do after hours, but I didn't care. I loved it, and would go back again, and again, and again.

The archipelago in Elnido must be one of the most beatiful places in the world. The resort has a great location on Miniloc island and nearby you will find beatiful lagoons, beaches and snorkling spots.

The resorts itself is a quiet place for couples and families. The resort offers many activities like island hopping and kayaking in the nearby lagoons. We had our most romatic date here with a private dinner on a small fleet in the big lagoon. It is an all inclusive resort, and you only pay for drinks which are expensive. The optimal stay in Elnido is to stay 3-4 days in Elnido town (Elnido garden resort) and then 3-4 days on Miniloc or Lagen resort. Don't stay more than 3-4 days on Miniloc as you will only get bored.

I am going to rate this by what they offer:

Room:
The room was OK but bummer that there was no TV setup, wi-fi is sometimes slow and not 24/7. No complimentary toothbrush/toothpaste and slippers, so good thing I brought mine. (I guess I expected that there will be one!) but they do have complimentary summer bag to use during the stay plus an eco bag. Also, good thing was it never runs out of hot water.

Food:
Food was great but expect breakfast, lunch and dinner will have 2 identical dishes.

Service:
What stands out about this resort is their GREAT SERVICE. The staff were very accommodating, they will greet you with warm smiles and hellos. They will provide you with wonderful and funny staff to tour you, (Salute to Manong Chris, our tour guide, for the wonderful job).

All in all I will definitely go back.

I choose El Nido Resort Miniloc Island as the location to propose to my girlfriend. We both travel for a living and have been to Europe and all over the world, but never SE Asia. El Nido Resorts went ABOVE and BEYOND my expectations to make this the best vacation both of us have ever experienced.

Aside from the beautiful limestone cliffs, world class beaches, and amazing snorkeling (best I have ever experienced), it was our hosts and staff that made this an unforgettable place. We will be coming back here over and over again. We had private lunches on secluded beaches and a private dinner on Entalula Island for our proposal dinner that could not have been more romantic.

We stayed for 10 days and 0n our last night El Nido Resorts set us up with a surprise dinner on a floating dock in the middle of Big Lagoon during a full moon! Thanks Noel & Mike!

Our activities director was extremely professional and hospitable. Every day we explored different islands, beaches, and snorkel sites via outrigger boats that came and went seamlessly on schedule. I've never been to a place where such amazing excursions were included with the resort. Hospitality was incredible!

We stayed in a waterfront cottage and woke every morning to various sea life below our balcony.

This place is amazing. Words cannot describe. When we left the resort it felt as though we were leaving family behind. My new fiancee and I were planning our return trip before we even left! This place is soooo worth it!

If you went here and didn't give it an EXCELLENT review then there is definitely something wrong with you!

The place is small - no discos , no TVs , no promenade mind you - only a subdued resort for a quiet , quality vacation for water sport minded - diving and excellent snorkelling few meters from the shore . Activities consist of visits in other islands in the vicinity - everything is nature and in the most beautiful form in the tropical meaning . Food is consistently good and varied -your only concern is your daily diving or snorkeling
