I was very excited about the Island Hopping Tours in El Nido, but was a little disappointed. My girlfriend and I decided to take Tour A. It was late getting started, no fault of the guests, we were all there on time.
Every island we went to, we were the last boat to arrive, out of many, at least 10 to 15 other tour boats in the same location.
Each island we went to was very crowded before we got there. We spent a lot of time trying to find a place to dock the boat. The snorkeling was not very good, nothing to see, mostly cloudy water.
If you rent a kayak on the tour, you have to pay for it in advance, and you have to make sure the other guests and the tour guides know it is your kayak for the day, otherwise they will take it while you are snorkeling or swimming, leaving you with no kayak when you are ready to use it.
The tour could have been better if it had not been so crowded with other boats and tourists in the same spot. We also didn't get to visit all of the islands listed on the tour. The excuse the guides used was because it was too crowded, so they cut the tour short.
So, my take on the Island Hopping Tours in El Nido? Maybe you will get lucky and book a tour on a slow day, or with someone who gets started on time.
Or, if you like huge crowds on beaches with limited space and get there before everyone else, so you can get a good spot, then maybe you will have a great time.
If you like snorkeling in cloudy water, then you won't be disappointed.
