“Best Holiday Ever -Heavenly”

I'm struggling to find enough words of praise for the resort, the staff and the dive centre. The whole experience was top notch. The reservation process was really well organized by Amy who responded to all my queries really quickly and in a detailed way. Amy was there to greet us on arrival with a delicious coconut drink. We stayed for a week, and were treated incredibly well by all the staff and were made to feel like family, including Andy (the King of Sangat) owner of the resort. We stayed in the hill top villa for 3 days and a hillside villa for 4 days. There was a better breeze down by the beach, but the hill top room was more spacious and closer to the monkeys. The food was great and plentiful even though there were 2 large groups there while we stayed.... Tempura prawns and sashimi were my highlights, but the crab, squid, chicken, pork ribs and fresh fish were also delicious when you consider the remoteness and basic nature of the facilities the kitchen were working with they did better than a lot of the good restaurants in Singapore. Brian who works in the bar and restaurant is a legend and really cares about the quality and service of your stay.

The scenery and the beach are picture perfect, and the island is very unspoiled, birds, butterflies, lizards and the cheeky monkeys all around. We stupidly left our doors open at sunset in the hill top villa and were invaded by a bat. It just hung out in our bathroom which was a little unnerving in the shower! The lack of electricity during the day is not an issue as you can still charge phones/cameras etc in the main bar area and the wifi is free in his area. Living in Singapore we were a bit worried about the lack of air con but found the breeze and lack of ac magic, there were big fans in the rooms and cooled us well during the night, and we woke feeling really refreshed and not dried out for a change.
Having worked in the diving industry for a long time we are hard to please, and I can honestly say Jojo and his team are total professionals and we were very impressed. The schedule is pretty flexible and Jojo ensured we saw all of the reef and wreck highlights. We used the smaller boats Banjul and Bantuto during our stay- they were well suited to small group dives and the captains super helpful - we were lucky enough to have Luke as our guide and Ed as our captain for most of the week.
The whole experience was so wonderful and we felt really lucky to have experienced a real slice of paradise. We will certainly return, and would recommend this resort to all types of travelers as there were bigger groups, couples, families and we were all well catered for.

We stayed at Sangat for a week. We met a lot of interesting people both among the other guests and staff. Sangat is for those who want a little extra, they manage to create a very relaxing atmosphere despite the otherwise very active range of activities.

The guests as we experienced at Sangat were people who wanted to go exploring wanted want to experience something new every day, which makes conversations comes very easy.

You must choose Sangat if you wishes boundless relaxation with a bounty beach view.

We will definitely be back.

I have just returned to the UK after 3 weeks in the Philippines including 7 days on Sangat Island Resort.
This was not my first visit to Sangat, the beauty of the Islands is so magical that I am very happy to travel half way around the World to visit Sangat. If you want to stay in an average concrete building with a pool, waiters to serve cocktails, air con, fridges in your room, room service etc etc, Sangat is not the place for you, stay away. The Island is 40 minutes by boat from the nearest conerbation, there are a dozen or so traditional nipa (timber, bamboo and palm thatch) bungalows. There is no national grid for electricity, no mains water supply, no mains sewerage system, no piped gas or any other of the resources available on the mainland. The owners have created a brilliant and innovative method of supplying fresh water, electricity from solar panels and a generator for the evenings. The accommodation is as close as you can get to native Filipino style but with a few extra luxuries. In my opinion it's the whole point of visiting such an Eco style resort in the Philippines The shower water may be a little on the cool side but not so much as to make it unpleasant in fact after a day in the Sun it is very comfortable. The owners do their best to be Eco friendly, if the 30 or so guests were to stand for 5 minutes in a hot shower twice a day, the water supply would probably run out before breakfast. All the rooms are provided with a fan which is perfect to circulate the air overnight. Air con can only work in hermetically sealed brick or concrete buildings, it will not work in traditional Filipino Nipa stilt bungalows, go to Disney Land if you want Concrete and air con.
The food is all sourced locally, many of the vegetables and fruit are grown nearby in the owners farm. Fresh fish is brought in daily by local concession fishermen and fresh meat from the Market in nearby Coron town.
The meals are excellent and cater for all, be it European or Filipino. Drinking water is provided in all rooms and from a cooler available around the clock in the restaurant area. The bar staff will keep your water in the fridge during the day and put ice cubes in at night if you are desperate for freezing cold water to take to bed. The whole ambience and ethos of the place is to provide a Filipino experience with the added bonus that the resort is very close to the Japanese ship wrecks, a Mecca for Scuba divers.
Meeting and talking to people from around the globe in the bar during at night is a perfect way to finish a day in Paradise.

We stayed at Sangat island for 3 nights and it was not as good as i had hoped. Our room was fine except there was no fridge or even an icebox - no possibility of keeping your water cold in 30 degree heat - very very disappointing. We paid $200 AUD per night and no cold drinking water was a joke. Also there is only electricity between from 6pm till 6am which made things very hot once the fan switches itself off at 6am - no sleep in as its very very hot. no air con - only fan cooling. The staff were lovely and the buffet food yummy and the snorkelling was good. Also there is No pool - which we thought wouldn't be a problem because the ocean is right out front but you couldn't swim easily in there - there is a lot of seaweed and boats coming and going. Another negative for us was no warm water - there is only cold water in the shower - NO hot at all - its not nice refreshing cold either its freezing - like unable to shower freezing (straight off the mountain). Pity you can't drink the cold water from the shower and bath in the drinking water!!! We stayed all over the philippines and had a great time but this hotel was a let down and Coron in general was a let down - very commercialised and unfortunately wrecked by too many tourists - other parts of phils are much nicer.

Last minute change of plans meant that I had 3 days on my own, so I headed to Sangat. No regrets whatsoever, everybody made it a great trip .
The diving was fantastic, the instructors patient and knowledgeable.
The food , which was a buffet, was varied and tasty.
The resort was well maintained and in good condition.
You are not going to get your 5 star comfort but forget that and head there for relaxing, diving and a general good time.
Get yourself there, don't penny pinch and dive elsewhere. Andy, JoJo , Luke and the team will look after you.

I was there in january 2010, the excursions they offer are nice, specially the Island Hopping trip... but the hotel is really basic, the only nice thing is the food. Rooms are really poor, plenty of bugs. There are other better, though, more expensive options in the area.

Received the gift of a lifetime to spend a short week in the Sangat Island dive resort to be in a beautiful place where you are welcomed like an old friend , where snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, sunbathing, walking on the beach, meeting lots of very nice people whilst receiving the care of a cook that takes care of all your needs for culinary delights from morning till night, where the bar creates special new cocktails for special events and where the rising of the sun is as romantic as the sunset. But even more amazing is the ease to learn or refresh your diving skills where you have the experts make you feel and experience that there is nothing more enjoyable than diving at any depth experiencing the Beauty of the reefs and marine-life as well as a multitude of wrecks ....The resort is one of a kind!!!!!!! Don't miss the opportunity to go there as Tim truly awesome and magical

Room Tip: All are great
