We went here for oue honeymoon over the christmas period and I can safely say we had an absolutley amazing time. We requested a beach villa with a good view and lucky enough we got one of the best. Only about 4 beach villas have good views of the neighbouring island and sunset and these are situated just North of the Beach club so make sure to ask.

We booked directly through the Aman resorts reservation line and everything was done for us and we had no problems getting to the island via the inter-island flight. Every villa (or Casita) has their own golf buggy so it makes exploring the island that much more fun.

The villas themselves are large with half given over for the bathroom. I wouldn't say that they are the most modern ones in terms of having Plasmas and all the latest gizmos, but I personally loved them and I don't you need to have all of that as you are there for the island, environment and the service. They also have direct access to your own bit of pure white beach and there is a hammock to fall asleep in.

Activity wise, there is a fair amount to do, particularly for the sea lover. We did a bit of fishing and it was great fun (price for your reference is about US$160 an hour). The water was crystal clear and the snorkling was fantastic (we even saw a few sharks) They also have tennis courts, mountain bikes, massage sala and a well stocked library and DVD collection.

The hotel also has a very nice pool situated at the clubhouse and when it was a bit too windy down at the beach this was a great option and the staff were extremely attentive, handing out water, free drinks and some ice cream throughout the day. Also everywhere you go there is free insect repellant and sun cream so you don't need to bring a whole load with you. I know people have mentioned the sand flies in past reviews, but we didn't find these to be a problem. My wife was bitten once and it was quite unpleasant, but if you show some common sense and put the repellant on then you will be fine.

The food throughout the trip was good, I wouldn't say great but the chef did make us some special requests as after a few days we didn't want to have too much rich food. I would definitely recommend taking out the meal plan as the food is expensive, although I would say that if anyone goes to one of these resorts and moans about prices etc etc once they return then they really didn't do their research properly.

Overall I would give Amanpulo top marks, we only had a few quibbles and these were easily forgotten about once you take everything into consideration. The staff do their absolute best to help you and we did feel sympathetic as some of the guests were unbelievably difficult and I thought rather rude, but hey I think thats life.

Finally, the manager and assistant manager were always present and they were extremely friendly and helpful. Everynight we would return to our room and find small gifts and nibbles and this was always an end to what was always a perfect day.

I would fully recommend that anyone should go here for a relaxing break, it is expensive but 100% worth it. If you are living in the far east, forget about the Maldives or Seychelles as they take a long time to get to and instead make your way to Amanpulo. Enjoy.

  • Liked — the huge bathroom
  • Disliked — bed was a bit hard
  • Tips/Secrets: — do your research first, expect to pay at least US$1500 per day per couple

I have stayed at four other Aman resorts and this is possibly my favorite, so I was quite surprised to see any negative postings. It is a great beach resort which combines a beautiful natural habitat with the intimacy and service of an Aman

The island is absolutely beautiful, with nice beaches and clear water. It is really geared towards those who enjoy water sports. The service was impeccable. The casitas are neither new nor very large, but quite comfortable. The food was good enough, but not the best for an Aman

I recommend one of the beach casitas close to the beach club, which will enable you to get around without using the golf cart all the time. I also recommend diving, as the island has a very competent dive school with good instructors

Our departure summed-up the Aman experience. We missed our connecting flight in Manila due to a delay in the flight from the island. As our ticket was non-refundable, the Aman simply refunded me for the cost of the next flight, more than USD 5,000, without blinking

Myself and my wife just come back from Amanpulo was our second time and it is amazing how the hotel service is getting better and better!!! I

Apart from all new innovations, new beach club, Gym and spa salas, the food and wine list has really improved, the paella at the beach club are simple delicious, the new spots for BBQ are just amazing beautiful. The at emptive and friendly, staff are just brilliant; you cannot expect more, anywhere in the world, exceptional service...

The hotel looks is coming back to his glorious times after the opening. The only remark was the casitas I agree they are slightly tired but the new pleasant workaholic GM!! He is everywhere…, has inform us they are being current in renovations. We hope so, because we still think this boutique hotel is one of the best beach resorts worldwide. Salamat Philippines.

An absolutely amazing resort. The resort was incredible. Our beach casita was beautifully appointed. The service was subtle and sophisticated. The resort staff were genuinely friendly. The beach had powdery white sand, and the water was so clear. The sunsets too are breathtaking. Very highly recommended.

It's a real shame that the previous reviewer had such an awful experience and I think that I would have felt exactly the same with loads of kids screaming around the place. Luckily when I went (the week before Easter) the hotel was not 100% full. In fact when swimming in the sea there was no-one there at all and I basically had the whole beach to myself. I think being in a beach casita makes a big difference as u are not fighting for the sunbeds at the beach club. The beach and sea really are stunning, exactly like the website. In fact it is probably the most stunning beach I have been to. Agreed that the rooms were a little tired and that a makeover is in order. Also I thought the standard of the food to be very poor for a 5* resort with those prices. However, the service was excellent and the staff were incredibly friendly. I think I would go there again but for the beach/sea.
