“Breathtaking Beach, Pearl Farm is Magical, Staff is Amazing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

This is the most beautiful water--crystal clear with tropical fish everywhere--I've ever seen. The staff is amazing, so accommodating, attentive, and sweet, and the food is simple but fresh and very tasty. They serve you a small selection at every meal, so, no menus, but, it's super fresh and very good. The pearl farm experience is humbling, moving, and unforgettable (and the reason for my visit). The accommodations are rustic; nature is everywhere (and in your room sometimes!). If you require typical luxury (Ritz Carlton) accommodations, this place might not be for you---although the staff behaves as luxury hotel staffers do, and the views of the ocean/beach from this hotel are a luxury experience. Plus, the family who owns the pearl farm and this hotel invest heavily in the surrounding island communities through clinics, education, jobs, help building schools, etc, uplifting the lives of locals so much that you want to support their business. You come here to experience the pearl farm, the tropical waters, and nature; don't come here for Frette linens and central air, or, if you're afraid of big spiders.

Stayed 4 nights. Could have stayed a couple more. Had a really nice room with aircon on the beach. But a fan room would have done ok. Food was good and varied, staff friendly and helpful. Visit to the pearlfarm was interesting followed by the picnic. The corals we snorkeled on here were the best we saw anywhere around Palawan. Better than Bacuit Bay. The only gripe is the price. It is steep US$1100 for 4 days full board and then we got stung US$170 for the boat from TayTay and return to Batakalan. By far the most expensive place we stayed in the Philippines. But the island is beautiful.

Room Tip: If you want sand beach front rooms go for the rooms north of the beach.

We've been here April last year -2012. The place was so nice and serene and perfect for relaxing. I liked the place and the way everything was built. The resort is more of nature and less concrete. They use solar panels for power supply. The beach is facing the sunset that made our stay extra special. We enjoyed the day trip to the Pearl farm for Jewelmer Jewelry shop that cultured pearls especially the gold toned pearls which really very interesting. What I liked most here is that they takes care of the nature and have a foundation that help people for livelihood in a way that will not destroy nature. The owner of the resort was there too and joined his guests. The food is nice and simple. I still want to go back to this resort and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view up on the top of the lighthouse/tower.

Room Tip: We choose the room beside the hill and it's pretty nice and we chose the room facing the sunset...

Rowena and her staff were exceptional hosts. I didn't expect as much personal service from a resort, especially since they were so busy and clearly didn't need to make time to help me. But whether it involved talking with the booking company to resolve issues, or making sure that my needs were taken care of and that I enjoyed the Philippines, they were extremely proactive. I'm an extremely the satisfied customer.

we were offering ourselves a treat over New Year and stayed for 3 nights at Flower Island. The room (champagen de luxe) was o.k., even if it was very small and there was no cupboard or place to store luggage. We were highly disappointed by the food (very basic and not nice). As for the extras (visit of pearl farm and snorkeling excursion) we were first told that they are not going to happen as it was New Year and we had almost to go on our knees to get what we were paying for. The staff was very friendly in general, but the manager on duty was really not knowing what she was doing. On the last day aircon did not work and we got only cold water in the shower. The island is a little paradise - but the price for what you are getting is by far too high. We have been staying in other places in the Philippines where we got so much more and did not even pay a third of the price we paid on Flower Island. They somewhat pretend to be a luxury resort but they are not. Even if they try hard in some respect, that is just not good enough at that price!

It is really a paradise island. Very well maintained. The beach is great and also the snorkeling in the house reef is really nice. Plenty of corals, sea stars and coloured fishes. Even my 5 years old daughter enjoyed snorkeling there as the sea was practically flat, very clean, in the various shades of blue and torquise. It is better to have the coral shoes to enter the water, even if there are some parts of the beach (where the jetty is) where it is only sandy and you can enter from there and then swim to the rocky, corals spots. Sunsets are great and also the builded path around the island (40 m' walk tour) is worth to be done. There is no hot water, but we didn't have any issue with the electricity power. The food is simple and a bit repetitive (we staid 4 nights / 5 days), but it is fresh and well done. The breakfast could definitively be improved especially considering that the place is not cheap. The offered tour to the nearby pearl farm is a must. It is really worth doing it; very interesting indeed (included in the package). Very nice also the pic nic organized on the pearl farm island and the snorkeling tour to the "coral garden" always in the area of the pearl farm. Concerning the snorkeling, I found it much more interesting and rich here than in the El Nido bay ! If you come from El Nido, the nearest port to take the boat for the flower island is Batalakan. It takes about 1 h and 15 m' ride on unpaved road in minivan (we paid 2200 PHP for the 4 of us). The boat ride from Batalakan is about 40 m', a bit more if the sea is choppy. While if you come from Puerto Princessa, the nearest port is TayTay. It takes about 4 / 4.30 h ride in minivan (paved road) and then 1h and 30 m' speed boat ride (2 hs if the sea is choppy).

Room Tip: We had cottage n 5, which is one of the newest. Really spacious and nicely decorated (we were 2 adul...

Our stay at the island resort was really nice. The island is a beautiful place. No issues with electricity or water. Our cottages were new and comfortable.
Nevertheless this resort is not intended for people who like active sports, activities or a nightlife. Furthermore it is more suitable for people who love being out there in the nature.

Room Tip: Don't take the cottages with fans, there are lizards and bats that climb under the roof of the c...
