“A pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

We had a pleasant stay in this Hotel.
This is a big hotel and probably the best in the area.
Our deluxe room had a nice view.
No aircon (you don't need it, it's cold), no Ref, no Tv or wifi in the room.
The nice thing is their windows have screens, so you can open the let the cool air in and keep the mosquitoes off (if there is any)
TV and paid wifi at the lobby.
The place is very clean although old.
Hot shower is nice.
Food (pork and chicken barbeque) in the pool area is cheap.
Buffet (free breakfast with the room) is simple - rice, eggs, corned beef, canned Meat loaf or canned sausages, eggs, breads, butter, jam and juice.

The Banaue hotel and youth hostel is situated at one of the best view points close to town. The rest of the town has pretty basic accomodations. The Youth hostel was not open when we were there but will be soon.We splashed out here and got the suite two separate bedrooms 2 ensuites double balcony etc. great for 4 people. The best hot water shower I had whilst staying in the Philippines. The service was ok and the food was ok,I could see a lot of training going into the new staff who all tried really hard.

Perched on a plateau, the air was crystalline - unlike some other hostels further into town which were normally much cheaper, down to 250 pesos a night, but where one contended with jeepney pollution and some noise. Yet all hostels in that country seem to have spacious rooms with single occupancy, so can't grumble.
Only 1 storey high but horizontally the most enormous hotel (or even building) I have ever seen.
Magnificent, huge reception and dining rooms - unlike Baguio or Manila - or even Bangkok!

My room had a verandah/balcony with a view to die for - of the famous rice terraces.
We had a sample of Igurot folk dance with audience participation.

A bit isolated so didn't rub shoulders much with the locals.
Internet very slow, night service a bit sleepy, and victuals rather impecunious.
A great hotel but very pricey compared with the many other hostels in town, where in fact the cheapest one next to the market seems the homeliest (run by a really sweet granny!)

Room Tip: All rooms have a great view. You may wish to arrange your own water supply and bring in extra victu...

It is a pretty basic place and the only reason to stay there is to go and see the rice terraces. Having said that, it is a very friendly place and the rooms are quite simple but passable. If you are eating there and if there is a buffet make sure you opt for it as the a la carte options are dire.

Stayed here for 2 nights. This hotel had seen better days and probably was once nice. It is now old and run down. Walking into the entrance and grand lobby reminded me of the hotels one can see in a horror movie. It was dark and dingy and felt cold. The staff appeared responsive and were professional. Different day excursions and trekking can be arranged right at the hotel. The room I was in felt dirty and did not have a TV or safe. The room had amazing views of the rice terraces, but the balcony door did not feel secure. There are no toiletries or shampoos in the room so bring your own. The restaurant downstairs had a buffet breakfast which consisted of some egg dish, fruits, and other Asian items. It wasn't great, but edible. The restaurant staff appeared very unenthusiastic and unhappy. Not a smile once. The hotel charges for WiFi, but it barley worked so not even worth a peso. Overall, if someone would fix this place up, it would probably be nice. Until then, it is just one of the few options in Banaue.

This is by far the best hotel in Banaue. The staff really provide you with first class treatment. We experienced this from the front reception all the way to the restaurant. The food at the restaurant is fantastic and reasonably priced. The view during the day is fantastic. The rooms are basic. No TV, no A/C, but it is cold in banaue so there is really no need for an A/C. The showers have good water pressure for both hot and cold temps.
Cons:
- the hotel needs renovation. This is suppose to be the best hotel in Banaue build by the department of tourism. The building is falling apart. The hallways areas are missing lights it is so dark at night.
- our balcony has fantastic views of the terraces. But, if you look at the sorroundings of the building, there is garbage here and there, over grown shrubs. Although, this is not so bad compared to other places in the Philippines.

This hotel has so much potential. If only it can be properly maintained by the government with adequate funding.
