“Not really a budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Near malioboro. Clean room. Helpful staff. But the rate around 800k - 1mio for one night. Fun interior.

They also have sky bar and pool. Although the pool more like plunge pool.

Theres a DJ and live music at the sky bar.

Better u booked online than u booked at the reception since in my experience at the reception we more like bargaining to booked the room.

Over all its a nice fun hotel but not really a budget hotel.

We stayed in August 2013.
The hotel is located within walking distance to Malioboro street and quite near to Keraton Jogjakarta.
The staffs were very friendly and helpful. Decorations in the reception looked fresh and gleeful.
The rooms design was very nice and modern.
In fact that we were given the room 630, which might be one the worst rooms in the hotel. We could hear noise caused by humming sound from the 2 exhaust/cooler fans, which were put exactly on the floor above. And we were also disturbed by noisy flushing water the toilet above, which seemed to be used frequently at nights. We just realized this at 11 p.m. (after we turned off the TV), so we thought it was too late to ask for another room.
But we were really fallen in love with the rooftop pool. Not a very big pool, but felt very fresh with a great view to the city. And don't forget the lounge beside the pool. Nice and comfy.
So my advice: avoid room 629 and 630 and you'll get one of the best stay in Jogja.

Summary:
Despite the noise in the room, we still recommend this hotel. Because the staffs were so friendly, location OK, good breakfast, and again, we loved the pool with stunning view.

Room Tip: avoid room 629 and 630. Noise from the fans above the room.

Stayed here for 3 nights to allow enough time to do the temples in Yogya and Mt Merapi. Hotel was great - clean, calm and relaxing compared to the hustle and bustle of Malioboro Street which is only 5 min walk away. The roof top pool and bar was absolutely stunning and watching sunset over the city lounging in the pool was a great experience every day.

Not that they're not allowed to put the price higher than the others. But people will expect to get some more when they price is that high.
The room is small with weird lighting. The location is a bit far from Malioboro street. But still walking distance though.
The breakfast is just average.

And what makes it even worse is, the room wall are so thin. I can barely hear my neighbor moving the tables and chairs. And even chat until 4AM.

I believe IBIS is a good hotel. There are atill a lot of room to develop.

At the moment I might not spent another night at this hotel.

the hotel was very good, at the very heart of jogja's , near malioboro street and keraton, easy to find, have good access. the room was ok and clean. have a good breakfast and their terderlion was very good. the high value of this hotel is they have a rooftop cafe with live music everynight from 8-11pm i think with a beautiful view because no building at the same height nearby. we love to stay here and i think for another stay at jogja, i will choose this hotel.

Pros: good location of Malioboro, modern, colorful decor, friendly staff, very nice rooftop bar & pool
Cons: modern, colorful decor, staff needs training, housekeeping sloppy
This is a good budget option and I'd recommend to stay here - as long as your expectations are not too high. Despite the great reviews here on tripadvisor, this is a pretty standard budget hotel.

Location: The hotel is on a small street, off Malioboro, making it reasonably quiet, yet in walking distance to Malioboro and even the palaces in town, etc.

Room: The room is small with a very modern and colorful decor as shown on the web site pictures, reminded me of IKEA furniture. I like the modern feel, but for some the colors might be a little "loud" - check out the pictures to figure out what camp you fall into.
I really liked the window from the bathroom to the bedroom - it has a curtain if you don't.
Room has a TV, kettle and safe - all in working condition. Bathroom has rainfall shower, shampoo from dispenser.
The room showed some wear & tear, the quality of the chosen materials does not lend itself to graceful aging...

Service: All staff - bell staff, front desk, restaurant, pool/spa were friendly and responsive. There were some training and oversight issues though, for example:
Front desk was completely uninformed about the Accor LeClub program - none of the (recently introduced) benefits for a platinum member were provided! I had a similar issue with another Accor property - they seem to be better in updating their program web site than in training their staff. Staff had problems in handling credit card - seemed odd!
Bell staff uses a taxi company that uses older cars without A/C or seatbelts - at pretty much the same price... probably have some kind of deal with that company. Bell staff also tried to sell me a "fixed price" fare to the airport - which of course was 50% higher than regular rate, not acceptable!
Housekeeping was sloppy - toilet was not cleaned, floor mats provided on two days were dirty

Facilities: The roof top pool/bar is beautiful. This is one of the few hotel restaurants/bars I'd recommend even for non-hotel guests. It has a nice few for sunset, so I'd recommend for drinks around that time.
The spa looks ok and is overpriced, I would recommend to go elsewhere.
There is no fitness center on site.
The travel agent on site is very helpful, reliable, fees can be charged to room and she is worth the slightly higher price. I'd recommend to go through her for transportation.
The breakfast at the main restaurant is ok. Good coffee (espresso-style machine), limited choice of breakfast items, good quality. They do have made-to-order eggs, ask the staff.

Value: At my rate of USD42, the Ibis Styles is good value and I'd recommend to stay here as a budget option. There walk-up rates were 50-100% higher during my stay than what I paid, so check online before booking. If you don't need the brand/chain hotel, there are plenty of independent hotels at lower prices available in the neighborhood.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. The rooms are clean and bright. The breakfast was ok, enough to choose from. Very good coffee (if you ask for the one from the machine). The staff is friendly. It's just a few minutes walk to Jalan Marlioboro, so really close to the city center and the interesting sights. We loved the Sky bar, at night we enjoyed the live music at the sky bar. It's certainly a hotel I would stay at the next time I visit Yogja.
