Number one- I can't believe people are complaining about sinks, Tv channels and kids! The sink has been upgraded to a bath and your at a home-stay.. In a foreign country! Don't travel if you want stay in an AC room, and watch tv!
Number two- this place is LOVELY, hanging out in the garden listening to kids play (other children around the world aren't as lucky).
This family helped us with local info, taxis, booking tours and local eateries. Very good value for money and defiantly no complaints from myself or my partner!!
Thank you for sharing your home with us! :)

Dear Alexandra, thank you so much for writing such a nice review about dependopo homestay. You made my day! You are one of our very special guest and we are so lucky to have you are staying at our home. You have a positive mind and thought about our people and culture and for that I really appreciate it as not everyone has such a cultural sensitivity. I wish you for a safe travel back home. May God Bless You always in every journey that you made. I wish that we meet again. Best, Ira, Budi, amor and selena

I just spent in a week in this place and it was perfect for me and a bargain as well. Budi and Ira are such lovely hosts and the atmosphere of the place is so relaxing and quiet, set back from Prawirotaman and a long way from the hustle of Malioboro, yet an easy becak or 20 minute walk away from the Kraton. The rooms are extremely comfortable and are set around a nice garden of bamboo and frangipani...the best part though was enjoying beautiful fresh Aceh coffee made by Ira and sitting in the De Pendopo or the garden reading,chatting...excellent Javanese hospitality which I won't forget...I travel solo but a great place for families...Thanks very much.

Hi Carl, thank you for taking time for writing this review. We really appreciate it. yes luckily our location is just behind all good restaurants. Hani restaurant is good as it uses fresh and organic ingredient and aglio has very good pizza for affordable price and yes, mediterania has the best food in the area. You have very good taste in every choice that you made. I am glad that you enjoy my beloved hometown Yogyakarta. Have a safe journey back to US!

After reading the favourable reviews, my boyfriend and I decided to stay at De Pendopo for our trip to Yogyakarta. And I'm happy to say that it was the best decision we have made!

Our hosts consist of a family of four. A lovely couple, Budi and Ira; and their very adorable kids. They're very friendly and welcoming. It was like home away from home. And that made us feel comfortable and safe throughout the 6 days we had in Yogyakarta. We had a good time getting to know one another. During our last night there, we bought some mini doughnuts from JCo's for the kids. Selina looked so cute eating them!

Our room is simple but warm and clean; and attached is a beautiful bathroom with glass ceiling. I enjoyed having my showers under the stars. Just amazing. It is also located nearby tour agents and restaurants. Breakfast is simple but yummy. Coffee, tea and drinking water are also provided free of charge anytime! Loved this!

The Homestay successfully provided us humble and laidback Indonesia we've been hoping for.

Thank you to our wonderful hosts for the warm hospitality!!

Dearest Jaryn, thank you so much for staying with our family. Our house is just an ordinary javanese house but it is our guests, like you that bring the color to our house by sharing stories, happiness and joy of life! I wish to see you again. Big hug from amor, selena xx and safe travel back to Penang

Location is neatly tucked behind an alley which helps in its serenity at nights. Beautiful place with absolutely wonderful hosts. The owners, Budi and Fabriana went all out to help us with our bookings and tours. They even recommended good food venues around the area which never disappointed us.Rooms were very beautiful with a rustic outdoor where you can have your breakfast. Nothing negative to say! Truly enjoyed the stay! Will surely be back.

For the price point, you get a comfortable and quiet stay (except for the 5am pray call, but you can't really get away from that in Jogja). The family who run the place are really nice, and the included Indonesian breakfast was quite good. You can walk to the Kraton (about 20 mins), and it's easy enough to grab a bus elsewhere (there's a stop about 10 mins away). The only downsides of this place is that the rooms are quite hot despite the aircons, and the owner doesn't know too much about the lesser known activities in the are (the Pindul Caves, or Merapi), but he can point you in the right direction, so it's not a big deal.

This delightful home stay is well situated in the Prawirotaman/backpacker area; close to the street but tucked away in a back alley. Rooms are arranged around a main courtyard where you can have breakfast or relax during the day with water, tea and coffee always available.

Even though the home is located just off of the main backpacker street, it is surprisingly secluded and quiet, while still offering access to many tour group offices and delicious restaurants (ask for directions to Bu Agen).

Our only complaint was the ants. They had infested the bathroom and sometimes even got into our bed. However, this seemed to be a problem in general in Indonesia so I'm not sure there's much that can be done.

All told, we had a wonderful stay here and would definitely return if we ever made our way back to Yogyakarta.
